-Ratings Breakdown: CBS opened the week on a winning overnight note, with a first-place finish in both total viewers and adults 18-49. But Fox and ABC have some crowing rights of their own.
Fox’s rock-solid House kicked-off the night on a winning note, with 13.35 million viewers and a 4.9 rating/13 share among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m. That led into veteran 24, with a third-place finish in both total viewers (9.76 million) and adults 18-49 (3.1/ 8) at 9 p.m. From what I have heard at the water-cooler, this is one of the better seasons creatively for 24.
CBS’ already renewed How I Met Your Mother was on the 8 p.m. map, with 9.37 million viewers (#3) and a second-place 3.7/10 among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m.. But lead-out Accidentally on Purpose, which is heading to Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. out of The New Adventures of Old Christine in March, dipped to 8.53 million viewers (#3) and a 3.1/ 8 in the demo (#3) at 8:30 p.m. In recent seasons, CBS traditionally built in the Monday 8:30 p.m. half hour. Next on the Eye net was always reliable Two and a Half Men at a dominant 16.50 million viewers and a 5.1/12 among adults 18-49 at 9 p.m., followed by laugh-out-loud The Big Bang Theory (Viewers: #1, 15.44 million; A18-49: #1, 5.4/13 at 9:30 p.m.) and veteran CSI: Miami (Viewers: 13.30 million; A18-49: #1, 3.7/10 at 10 p.m.), which is down but far from out. Emmy voters…are you taking note of Jim Parsons on The Big Bang Theory?
Over at ABC, another two-hour edition of still potent The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love impressed with an average 11.66 million viewers and a 4.1/10 among adults 18-49 from 8-10 p.m. Take a look at the half-hour breakdown:
The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love (ABC) 8:00 p.m. – Viewers: 10.40 million (#2), A18-49: 3.4/ 9 (#3) 8:30 p.m. – Viewers: 11.77 million (#2), A18-49: 4.2/11 (#2) 9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 11.80 million (#2), A18-49: 4.2/10 (#2) 9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 12.69 million (#2), A18-49: 4.6/11 (#2)
A repeat of Castle, which is a shoo-in for renewal for 2010-11, capped off the evening for ABC with a second-place finish in both total viewers (7.96 million) and adults 18-49 (2.3/ 6) at 10 p.m.
With ABC, CBS and Fox all successfully competing, there was little room for NBC’s combination of Chuck (Viewers: #4, 6.72 million; A18-49: #4, 2.5/ 7), which will never be anything more than a small core favorite, Heroes (Viewers: #4, 4.40 million; A18-49: #4, 2.0/ 5), which needs to end this season, and clinker The Jay Leno Show, which dipped to an embarrassing 3.91 million viewers and a 1.2/ 3 among adults 18-49 at 10 p.m.
Last, and very least, was The CW’s combination of One Tree Hill (Viewers: 2.15 million; A18-49: 1.0/ 3) and recently introduced Life Unexpected (Viewers: 2.07 million; A18-49: 1.0/ 2), which cannot be all that strong in their target female demos considering how weak their overall performance is.
What is your thoughts on LUX? Do you think it will be renewed with these ratings?. I am loving this show and would hate for it to be cancelled. It is repeating very well on wednesdays too.
Chuck is doing a great job of holding its audiance. Feeling good about a 4th season.
Considering the bad shape The CW is in, I think LUX has a shot of returning. The good news was the almost full retention out of One Tree Hill, which really needs to end at this point.

Thats what I was thinking about LUX too. Plus, I think alot of its audiance is coming from the wednesday repeats so I hope the cw is having a good look at them and taking them into consideration
I keep wondering if the Wednesday night encores are drawing viewers away from Monday nights.

As to Marc's "water cooler" comment, I would say this season started out promising through the first 4 eps, but I saw very little forward movement of the story last nite.

I'd say pretty good demo holds this season for Chuck and CSI Miami.
I don't even know that Chuck was doing a 2.5 at the end of last season. As for Miami, 3.7 is stronger than the other CSI's, The Mentalist, about on par with Criminal Minds, and not far below NCIS. And this for a show that I believe plateau'd quality wise some years back. But this show obviously has a few pretty deep hooks regardless of quality declines.

A little disappointed in HIMYM last nite. It seemed like an ep that got caught up in process and not delivering humor. The Nantz gimmick was stiff, the repetition of humor about the young Asian girl's name was silly, and we really didn't see much womanizing going on, did we?

Not every great comedy is for everyone. I myself think I Love Lucy is one of the most overrated comedies in TV History.
But at this rate, BBT will be the next Comedy Classic series, up there with the likes of Cheers, Seinfeld, MTM, Andy Griffith and so on.
