Of course since there was a strike this season, leading to more repeats and fewer originals being factored in, that drags the averages down a bit more than they would have been otherwise but the across the board declines for everything are apparent, so I don't think this is a question just about any one show. The bottom line is I think next season will be important not simply for the futures of Ghost Whisperer and Numbers, but for the short term future of Friday night. I don't know if I see CBS contiuing to launch scripted if GW and Numbers aren't able to survive past next season and no other networks manage success either.
GW should be able to at lease secure a 5th season if not more, it has comic books coming out, DVD sales are doing good, books are about to be launched, and just recently it was bought for syndication rights to 3 nets [ION, WE, and SciFi] for $700,000 per ep. As you can see GW is a money cranker if not ratings dominator, CBS is in it for the money and I highly doubt CBS is unpleased with the profit GW brings in especially since it is the only sci-fi genre show close to reaching its 5th season. We all know how Nets love their shows reaching the number 5 and 100.
CBS should truthfully stay away from those shows that are geared to fanatics (aliens, vampires, mystical x files stuff) -- such as moonlight or jericho -- because they are simply not willing to support it's growth.

How many shows are canceled in their 4th season before they can reach 100 episodes? Unless GW completely bombs next year (and it won't), it will be renewed for a 5th.
From what I'm hearing, if GW is renewed for a fifth season, it will be its last, as JLH is interested in quitting the show to procreate.

Do you have a source that Jennifer is quitting?
Plus why wouldnt she just quit after the fourth season. Why would she already be talking about season 5?

Sorry, I've read it awhile back, but I'm sure if you google it, you'll be able to find it. Five seasons = syndication.

Well, good thing CBS has put together a good looking lineup this year and found a female skewing show that will fit the Friday atmosphere a bit better than Moonlight.

Hmm, I haven't heard that, but I wouldn't doubt that she might want to start a family at some point in the not too distant future. That said, she's under a 7 year contract for the show, so I'm not sure she'd try to get out of it if it actually does get renewed through that point.
Isn't GW a girly show where a baby would only create more emotional episodes? Couldn't they just write the pregnancy in the show and have her make love to a ghost or something?
(I don't know much about that series btw sorry if it sounds silly)

She is married on the show, has been since the "Pilot."
