-Ratings Breakdown: It was a night of many season-finales, with CBS’ CSI and Without a Trace; NBC’s My Name is Earl, The Office and ER; Fox’s Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? and Don’t Forget the Lyrics; and the CW’s Smallville and Supernatural all closing their seasons. With that in mind, CBS was the most-watched network and ABC was No. 1 among adults 18-49. NBC inched into the second-place position in the demo, one-tenth of a rating point ahead of CBS, while Fox and the CW capped off the evening in the fourth and fifth place positions.
Minus Survivor in the competitive mix, ABC’s Ugly Betty and a one-hour edition of NBC’s My Name is Earl shared leadership from 809 p.m. as follows:
My Name is Earl (NBC) Viewers: 7.13 million (#2), A18-49: 3.0/ 9 (#1)
But one year earlier, Ugly Betty averaged a considerably stronger 10.50 million viewers and a 3.6/11 among adults 18-49. And My Name is Earl also dipped by double-digit percentages from a year-ago expanded edition of The Office.
Also airing from 8-9 p.m. was Fox’s Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? (Viewers: #2, 8.32 million; A18-49: #3, 2.2/ 7), which moves to Friday next season, a repeat of CBS’ CSI (Viewers: #4, 7.81 million; A18-49: #4, 1.8/ 5), and Smallville on the CW (Viewers: #5, 3.76 million; A18-49: #5, 1.7/ 5).
Tied for first at 9 p.m., as usual, was CBS’ CSI and Grey’s Anatomy on ABC as follows:
Grey’s Anatomy (ABC) Viewers: 15.18 million (#2), A18-49: 5.9/15 (#1)
But compared to one year earlier, CSI dipped by 2.72 million viewers (20.45 to 17.73 million) and 24 percent among adults 18-49 (6.2/16 to 4.7/12), while Grey’s Anatomy was down by a heftier 7.39 million viewers (22.57 to 15.18 million) and 35 percent in the demo (9.1/23 to 5.9/15).
Next at 9 p.m. was a one-hour edition of The Office (Viewers: 8.07 million; A18-49: 4.1/10), which built by 24 percent among adults 18-49 out of the second half of lead-in My Name is Earl, followed by Fox’s Don’t Forget the Lyrics (Viewers: 6.66 million; A18-49: 2.3/ 6), and Supernatural on the CW (Viewers: 2.93 million; A18-49: 1.2/ 3). Don’t Forget the Lyrics also moves to Friday next season.
CBS and ABC also shared leadership at 10 p.m. as follows:
Thursday 10 p.m. Without a Trace (CBS) Viewers: 14.54 million (#1), A18-49: 3.6/10 (#2)
Lost (ABC) Viewers: 11.40 million (#2), A18-49: 5.0/14 (#1)
NBC’s ER ended its next-to-last season with an improved 8.39 million viewers and a 3.3/ 9 among adults 18-49.
Yes, LOST was amazing last night. Don't be surprised to see a major uptick on season finale on the LIVE+SD results. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 5.5-5.8 in the DEMO for the season finale, with a 13-14 million viewers.
GA is crashing down. Even if it picks up some steam in fall i doubt this show will get near 20 million ever again. Disappointing numbers also for CSI's finale. I know it sounds stupid but 2.9 million for SN is excellent. It beat GG and OTH easily.

Or maybe they're just trying to launch a new series after CSI (when the ratings for that show are still good) and move a very stable WAT to a timeslot that has been awful for CBS for years...
Spoiler >>They proved that Warrick was framed for the murder of the mob guy by a cop. He was going to be demoted but still have a job. Then, in the last minute, the undersheriff comes up to Warrick's car and kills him (presumably because the undersheriff was had been working with the mob guy and was responsible for the frame-up.<<
