I've never seen Burn Notice, but it seems to be a hit for the USA Network.

It definitely is. Burn Notice actually grew from its premiere numbers (something that is generally pretty rare it the world of TV) and gives USA a self starter and plus, its really young skewing (The Closer's premiere this week got a 1.5 in the demo although ot did have more competition).

And it's a great show. I would recommend it to all. I'm a bit surprised by how young it does skew, considering that the whole cast is over 40.

I know right? Well, I think that the fact that Burn Notice has more of a overarching storyline than say, The Closer, Leverage or Monk (although Monk has that one plot line that pretty drives everything has the show ends when its resolved) makes a more appealing, plus the explosions and the Miami setting helps.
I personally think that its very well done and USA does a great job of promotion all of their shows.

Big pilot deals at ABC
New series from Jerry Bruckheimer, McG, Mark Gordon

ABC is getting into the Jerry Buckheimer crime drama business.

The network on Friday greenlighted an untitled pilot from Warner Bros. TV and Jerry Bruckheimer TV to be directed by frequent Bruckheimer collaborator Danny Cannon.

Friday was a big day for the most prolific producers on TV, with McG and Mark Gordon also landing pilot orders from ABC.

The McG-produced "Limelight," which will be directed by David Semel, also hails from WBTV. Gordon's "Empire State," is produced by ABC Studios.

The Bruckheimer pilot, written by Mark Friedman, revolves around a team of dedicated amateur detectives working on cases of unidentified victims.

"CSI" director/exec producer Cannon will exec produce alongside Friedman, Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman.

If the pilot goes to series, it would be Bruckheimer's first scripted show on ABC.
The network's previous regime famously passed on "CSI, developed at ABC Studios (then Touchstone) under then studio chief Stephen McPherson before it was sold to CBS.

ABC, now run by McPherson, had pursued Bruckheimer and bid on "Eleventh Hour," which ultimately landed at CBS.

At ABC, Bruckheimer previously exec produced the doc series "Profiles From the Front Line"

"Limelight," written by K.J. Steinberg, is a soap set around the teachers and students of a performing arts college in New York City. Loosely based on the experiences of hip-hop producer Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes fame, it is described as a blend of contemporary music and dance set against the dreams, hopes, and struggles of their personal lives.

McG, Steinberg, Semel and Leonard Goldberg are exec producing the pilot, co-produced with McG's Wonderland Sound and Vision. Peter Johnson is co-exec producing, with Williams serving as consulting producer.

The project has been in the works for two years. It was originally set up at ABC in the fall of 2007 with writer David S. Rosenthal attached.

"Limelight" joins another music-themed high school drama, Fox's upcoming series "Glee," from "Nip/Tuck" creator Ryan Murphy.

Semel continues to hold a perfect pilot record, with every pilot he has directed going to series.

Written by Michael Seitzman from a story by Seitzman and Jeff Reiner, "Empire State" revolves around two families -- one of blue collar iron workers and the other of the wealthy real estate tycoons that run them -- who collide in present day Manhattan when a Romeo and Juliet romance occurs.

Seitzman, Gordon and Deb Spera are exec producing.

I didn't even know the cast are all over 40 years old. I don't think the age of a cast matters much though. I bet in the 1980s, a good number of young people watched "The Golden Girls"!

In this case, "Burn Notice" has a lot of action sequences and great dialogue and plots that a young'un like myself enjoys the program.

Limelight sounds very interesting. If done well, it could attract the 18 to 49 demos to ABC.

Unless there is a huge downturn in the ratings, I think PP is a lock for another season. It's the best performing show ABC has had after GA in a long time. ABC isn't going to open that timeslot again in the fall.

It looks like the next Gossip Girl or The OC.

The writing and Fishburne on CSI has been outstanding and has refreshed the mother franchise. If you're not watching you are missing something special.... 11th Hour on the other hand is unwatchable!

And in the case of the latter, was a hit network show demographically until Schwartz killed off the annoying but apparently key main player in Marissa.

USA really neds BN and In Plain Sight to perform with Monk leaving

BTW if DH doesn't grow and CBS might be the single network on wich a scripted show hits 15 millions regularly. Whou would've thought that a decade ago?

Limelight and Glee are on the radar for one specific reason: The movie FAME is being remade for release this Fall. While the TV series, Fame, was uneven at times, it had/has tons of potential. If done right, the show is a combination of American Idol, Dance Superstars, and a youth set soap opera. The people behind these shows just need to remember to hire actual talent rather than just pretty faces.
