It's the old "tree falling in the forest" adage: there's nothing else on CW pulling in viewers, so there's less overall viewers to tell them that "the tree is falling." The viewers have left the CW forest, so ANTP isn't making much of a sound...

Well CSI NY is down from last year, CSI Miami is also a little down, while CSI is doing better. Overall the CSI franchise is doing just a little worse than last year, but i wouldn't say that CSI franchise is losing steam.

A small drop does not mean it's losing steam. Losing steam means significant drops year after year.

What about a medium drop? Confused

How long have you "thought This"??? 12, 18 months now?

Yes, the 3 monts of repeats are starting to take their toll ans I think its is a good compairison with Summer Numbers. But the competition is stronger now than the summer.

The shows will rebound just fine come April.
Plus, we are only 17 days away from the return of BBT!!! Smiler

Yeah but still ANTM has pretty much stayed around 5 million for a long time. It's very strange 1-1.5 million individuals got tired all of a sudden of the show.

Comparably, thru the first eight episodes of BB8 last summer (July – Sept.), the series averaged roughly 6.61 million viewers and a 2.5 rating in the young adults demographic.

That means that BB9 has lost only around 500,000 viewers from the summer edition of BB8 – at least thru the first eight installments. Keep in mind that BB9 has faced much stiffer competition than its summer time counterpart last year (i.e. “American Idol” on Fox and the Oscars). Given that fact, and knowing that BB never set ratings records in during its summer runs, CBS has to be relieved that the aging franchise is holding up as well as it has been.

It should be noted that BB8 aired on a Tue/Thu/Sun rotation while BB9 has shifted slightly to a Tue/Wed/Sun airing schedule.
In addition, the ratings will likely increase when Idol reduces to one hour on Tuesday and moves to 9PM on Wednesday.

Could be burnout from ANTM being on VH1 about every other hour.

I think there are 2 main reasons for this.
1. ANTM is going up against Idol female singers this time around. and doing it several episodes earlier in Idol's schedule than last year.
2. Last season's loss by favorite heather and win by Tyra 'plant' left a bitter taste in some viewers' minds.

Next week is the typically high-rated makeover week...
Yes it is. The makeover episode transforms the cast into 'model looks' and is usually one of the highest (if not the highest) rated episode of the season. If the ratings don't jump to 4.5M+, this cycle is in trouble.

CW has the highest percentage of viewers using DVRs. I'd expect that ANTM is going to be adding 20%+ to their viewer numbers when that data comes out.

I too look forward to the Big Bang Theory but I'm not going to go out of my way to say it will do excellent at 8pm. It really deserved more time in the easier 8:30 slot before being pushed into an 8pm role. As for CSI, I think the overexposure will begin to start taking its toll. And I've only been saying that since the end of last season.

But the CW has fallen significantly as a network since last Fall, when ANTM had the higher ratings. I'm saying that even by CW standards, there's been a sharp drop off since the Fall, and unlike the big networks, they don't have the huge events to bring them back. ANTM was their best chance, and it has not worked.

FOX: American Idol... enough said.
NBC: Deal or no Deal was waaaaay down. CI is just there and Law and Order save the night.
ABC: Supernanny and Wifeswap are the only bright spots. Put 20/20 at 10:00 please
CBS: Very poor demos. Old skewing like always.

isnt it funny that almost everyone on here predicted abc would go down to last place in everything, even in the demo

but somehow abc, even though they aired the least watched oscar telecast for feb sweeps, and even though all of their shows repeat horribly, has managed to snag the no. 2 slot in the demo and viewers

even though there is a big chance that abc will become 3rd in viewers, it will still win in the demo, which is more valuable to advertisers

Last Nights "Old Skewing Percentages"

NBC - only 26.7% Demo to Viewers
CBS - only 30.1% Demo to Viewers
ABC - only 36.6% Demo to Viewers
FOX - only 37.7% Demo to Viewers

Of course, what does this all mean????
Absolutely nothing.
Skewing and Percentages mean nothing

And advertisers are going to pay sooo much attention to this February sweeps because it's not like there was a strike or anything.
