Well, he was the episode was great -- obviously it's within the context of watching a tv show and finding it entertaining. nobody said that it had cured cancer or anything...
It wasn't even as good as the best Lost eps of the first two season. Our standards are getting really low. But kudos to Lost for finally managing to surpass them. A good episode. And it's just not good enough for me to say it was good, was it? I have to say it was Grrrrrr-eat!
Nobody said you had to say that the episode was great -- we were simply saying that Larry had just as much right and justification to say the episode was excellent, and your attempt to make it sound like he was over-reaching failed miserably.

quote: O M G --- this episode ROCKED!!! I hope people watched it, because it was probably one of the best of the entire series. One of the others "Man of science, man of faith" also featured Desmond, in the hatch. And it explained quite a few things about what had been happening to Desmond, it was incredible: ABC, JJ & crew -- more like this please!!!
I agree! A very well done episode. They should rip off Star Trek more often.
I watched that ST:TNG finale, and it was an excellent episode -- it was probably one of the best series finales ever, and definitely the best of the Star Trek franchise.
However, I did not think of ST:TNG at all while watching LOST last night. Aside from the theme of time travel and how the past may affect the future, which is common in many sci-fi shows (Back to the Future certainly being more prevalent than Star Trek), and is certainly not "owned" by Star Trek.
TrekMovie.com: So quickly then, what is your favorite series, movie and episode?
Damon Lindelof: Favorite movie: Wrath of Khan. Favorite series: Next Generation. Favorite episode: the series finale of Next Generation, where it starts with Picard picking fruit with Geordi and he sees Tasha Yar and so on and so forth. I would go on to say that it is probably the best series finale of any television series ever.
TrekMovie.com: In a way it almost feels like Lost feels now, with the flash forwards and flashbacks.
Damon Lindelof: The episode tonight ["The Constant"] is our version of "All Good Things" which we had to do at this point in the series and not at the end or we would be really ripping it off. It is definitely an homage to that sort of storytelling.
And this is my homage to you and all hapless online fangeeks who miss the forest for the trees, Chimera.
Paying homage to a show/episode and ripping it off are two completely different things. As I mentioned that is my favorite episode of ST:TNG as well. I'm happy to hear than Damon feels the same way.
There are so many bad copies of both good and bad movies and tv shows out there -- I still believe "the constant" was a great episode of LOST regardless of where they got the inspiration from. It fit perfectly within the LOST world they created, and nothing you've said takes away from that.
Well, on the plus side, you did get my name right, this time. Zitrone will be relieved...

Perhaps a bit less happy that you went on record as saying you didn't see any great resemblance between "All Good Things" and last week's episode of Lost.
And for the record, I didn't see this interview until Saturday, when a friend brought it to my attention. I didn't need confirmation from Lindelof to know who they'd been ripping off/homaging/whatever. But you did. You could at least say thank you.

I liked it too, but "All Good Things" is a lot better. And there's no 'regardless' about it. They took the idea directly from STNG. And if Lindelof is being unusually honest about that for a TV producer, I might mention in passing that the production company he works for is currently making a Star Trek movie, so he'd look pretty silly NOT admitting it.

I wasn't trying to take away from it. It was a good episode, however derivative, though hardly the instant classic you wanted it to be.
I was just pointing out something that should have been blatantly obvious to anyone who had seen both "All Good Things" and whatever that Lost episode is called. Can't you just admit you were wrong, when shown direct evidence from an unimpeachable source that you were, in fact, wrong?

And I called my parents over the weekend. They're still fine, thanks for asking.
I said I didn't think about "All good things" while watching the show, as did you. The difference is that you said you realized it afterwards, and are now making a big deal about it. I don't see how it's relevant.

I knew by the time the ep was over where the idea for it came from. And after I told you the next day where the idea came from, you said you didn't think the two eps were all that specifically alike.
