Well, I can say that VMars rocked last night! I'm not suprised , I expected high ratings,it would be cool if we see more episodes like this one. Good job VMars
Next off... it's nice to see VM numbers's up a bit, but I've gotta question you when you label them as inching closer to a fourth season. I know you hate OTH, but it's performed better than VM this season (and better than VM ever did after ANTM), so why can't our fanbase taste a little of that optimism from you? The retention argument doesn't really persuade me given the fact that ANTM is CW's top ranked show by far, and given the fact that it's a reality show leading into a soap.
Otherwise, thanks as always for your numbers & analysis.
And. for whatever reason CW is airing a new Gilmore Girls next week and repeating the VM season premiere... that's gonna kill any momentum.
Well, it's going on hiatus, so it was going to kill any momentum no matter what. But I think that two weeks of new GG episodes, followed by the first couple of episodes of this season of VM might get some of the people who stuck around last night for the first time to watch the reruns this hiatus, and maybe keep the season average at a nearly respectable level. But I'm not too hopeful.
All I can say is that ABC was way to hasty canceling Commander in Chief and Invasion.
Completely true!
ABC would've had an amazing foothold in Tuesdays, probably winning in viewers if not Adults 25-54, if it had been Dancing with the Stars, Commander in Chief, and Boston Legal. What a great night that would've been!

OMG, we are so the biggest group of defeatest fans ever.
Hi TVGroupie. I don't hate One Tree Hill by any means. But the ratings are only up because it now leads out of Top Model. Don't you agree?

Marc what I find funny about CBS is ever since they called Judging Amy without giving the fans closure and it was still a solid show for them. It was an older skewing show but did well in viewers, this slot has been cursed for CBS. Smith was canned early but because it was a very expensive show but 3lbs was a House watered down ripoff. It also seems that Legal had an effect on 3lbs because Legal was off the two weeks it aired and Legal's return put some dent in the ratings. I have to give props to Legal. It will never be a huge hit like Grey's/DH but a moderate hit. It does about 6.5 to 7.2 but that is solid for ABC and performing better then most of ABC's 10pm shows. I think ABC forgot that their audience loves to watch traditional comedies with distant comedic voices that are family centered. These single camera comedies do not work for ABC or it's audience. I tried Big Day and clicked it off quickly. Help Me is a very niche show. ABC needs to look back at the days of Roseanne/Home Improvement and figure out what worked. Also moving Cold Case is a stupid decision because it is very solid for Sunday nights. CSI Miami is a big Monday hit. I think maybe CBS should try Shark out on Tuesday's at 10pm and give CSI a better compatible show. CBS needs something at 10pm that is more in line with NCIS-Unit. It needs something more male demo and fits with the whole male demo night.

Marc, have you actually seen it? Almost everybody who has seen the 2nd episode says that it is definitely no rip-off of House but pretty unique.
Personally, I don't think that CBS will axe 3 Lbs. any time soon. I bet they will move it or arrange a special airing after CSI or Criminal Minds before that happens.
If it had a worthy drama in the wings compatible to NCIS and The Unit, I would consider moving The Unit to 10 p.m. and putting the new drama at 9 p.m. What do you think?

I actually have been enjoying 3lbs since after the very poor pilot. (Therein lies the problem) I disagree that it comes off as a House clone. IF you watch either of the last two eps., I think they are very different from the far superior House. Doug is no where near as dark ad Greg House - as arrogent definately.
I'm hoping CBS gives 3lbs some time. I doubt they will but it's probably less expensive than Smith so maybe .....
If they do pull 3lbs, I not sure where to go. Repeats of the CSI franchises are CBS's fillers. Still, I don't think I would move the dominate CSI Miami to help on Tuesdays.
I only saw the pilot, and I think the network only ordered 7 or 8 episodes.

As for the ABC comedies....it really seems like no one wants to watch sitcoms anymore. If Two and a Half Men wasn't around, don't think there is ANY comedy that could pull any weight these days. HIMYM and Christine depend on people watching 2.5 to tune in for the whole night, and My Name is Earl and The Office are only modest performers. The sitcom may TRULY be dead! ..

I've kind of been hoping for this for years. Classic sitcoms like the BEVERLY HILLBILLIES (especially in its first year)were awesome formats for inspired comedic writing...now if you look at the log line in TV GUIDE describing the upcoming episode for any given sitcom...99% of them have some sort of plot revolving around the characaters having or trying to have sex. Now hey sex is great but its reached the point where its almost nauseating and they should be redubbed sexcoms.

Well the same argument could be made for Veronica Mars coming out of GG. That was The CW's hope... that these underperforming shows would fair better after big hits, and so far both have done that (OTH more successfully), but only VM seems to be getting the special recognition while OTH is continually lumped into the loser's column. I suppose that's where my confusion comes in. Thanks for taking the time to answer me! For what it's worth, I'd like to see both shows succeed... VM is smart, and OTH is just plain fun to watch.
