Excellent finale for Terminator last night. Despite being a cliff-hanger, I thought it made a great end to the show. I'm a happy camper. It's too bad the whole run hasn't been as good as the past 4 or 5 episodes. Of course, then it probably wouldn't be the end.
Dollhouse was better than the week before, but I can't really get into it. I still feel like I'm waiting for the show to actually start.
Harper's Island was a mess. I really like the set-up, but the execution was horrible. I thought I was watching the CW with all those glossy, indistinguishable kids. It took me over half an hour to figure out which one was Katie Cassidy, despite watching her for whole year on Supernatural. Yay for Jim Beaver though.
I guess CBS was trying to hook a younger audience. For once I wish they had stuck with their regular audience. It would be a much better show with older actors playing more interesting characters. Still, I'll probably follow along because I do love a mystery and it did have a few bright spots.

I concur with that. FOX has not given Dollhouse a real chance yet. They should do that by putting it after Idol or Bones
I said it before, and I will say it again. Doing that now is just stupid. The ratings are way to low for FOX to make changes now. If the ratings would have stayed at a 2.0 or so for a few weeks, then FOX would have tried it. Now that its now so low, that would be a dumb move.

Fox gave Dollhouse a better chance than they've given most shows. While a post-Idol or post-Bones or post-something debut maybe would've been nice, this sort of show would not benefit much if at all from a one-time post-Idol or Bones episode because so few people like this sort of stuff. Fridays at 9 against virtually nothing was the show's best chance for survival. Granted, the lead in sucked but Fox more than made up for that with the massive amounts of promotion they gave it from December to February. Everyone I turned on Fox for 2 months I saw a Dollhouse promo. The show had a chance. It failed and failed badly. Its not even growing out of Terminator anymore. If it were still doing that and pulling around 4 million, I would consider a pairing with Fringe next fall, but that my friends is not going to happen now. It may be back just because Fox has a few holes to work with in the fall but long term its dead.
Fridays do work for sci fi If it didn't, then why would they air all those shows on Sci Fi on Friday night? Friday is becoming the new Saturday mainly because of crap shows being on and DVR usage up big time.

Fridays has become the new Saturday. How about trying chuck on Fridays and see if it sticks....
SOUTHLAND - I had previously just seen portions of this. Saw it all tonite. I addressed the "bleep" issue in the thursday thread.
I'd say the excellent production style carried it through this pilot. They dealt with a number of stories simulataneously with more skill than many shows. The camera work got it beyond the documentary look and yet it differed in look significantly from other scripted. I would not compare it to other cop dramas. I thought it was fairly obvious the production style was right out of the ER playbook.
Now, will the underlying content continue to interest people? Is there enough star power in this cast? How many 'days in the life of..." will we see before interest is lost? Remains to be seen.
But this certainly has the makings of a good show. Like most other shows, it will hinge on interesting characters and a pilot can only scratch the surface on that, especially when so much of the emphasis was on the dynamics of the scenes and the film style.

Isn't Chuck something of a male-geared show? Aren't you contradicting yourself by wanting the male-geared Chuck on fridays when you think those type of shows don't work on that night?
Southland is being overplayed already. Was it necessary to air it on NBC and USA today? It has already aired 3 times in 3 days.

They could've done that for Kings when it first premiered, but opted for a two-hour Apprentice replay instead.
The Executive Producers of Ghost Whisperer are suffering from the same type of syndrome as the Lost E.P.'s: The “We Are Golden Syndrome”. In reality, neither of the shows are golden. They need to get off the ego train. At this point, GW needs a new showrunner because Simmonds isn’t cutting it anymore.. I luv Ghost Whisperer but last night’s ep with Duff was TRASH - a series low in quality!!!!! I would grade it a strong C - .
The reasons why I strongly disliked the Duff episode: 1. Duff: She cannot act and as she tries to, she becomes increasingly annoying. (I hope the pilot she’s in crashes and burns) 2. The resurrection of Jim: This continued storyline is working my last nerves. The beginning of the story was interesting, then it dissolved into lovey dovey TRASH (ANYTHING to draw in female viewers, huh? That’s straight out of the ABC scheduling playbook). If I hear that Sting song which is used in the promos one more time, I’m gonna… 3. The story behind Graham’s character: This was probably the worst “task” Melinda had to complete. It had a very weak foundation
The producers/writers better watch it because the series will probably never leave Fridays, its ad rates will decline as it ages, and it skews older than many series on broadcast nets. If this crap continues, then GW deserves to be thrown out just like trash, even if DirectTV wants to play TV God.
Dollhouse: Last night’s episode was really good. I hwould grade it a strong B. I hope it gets renewed for another 13 episodes. The only problem I have with the series is that extremely annoying guy (character and actor) who imprints Echo. Why did they get rid of Reed Diamond!? He’s a very good actor who portrayed an interesting character. Just think of the story possibilities. The FBI guy researching the dollhouse is mighty fine, if you know what I mean.
FRIDAY 2009: There are several “leaked” CBS 2009 sked/projected ad rates floating around - Is this one the REAL deal? PAR = (Projected Ad Rates)
Friday: Ghost Whisperer ($81,000), Numb3rs ($79,000), The Unit ($82,000) Friday (March): Ghost Whisperer, Back ($61,000), The Unit
The Unit on Fridays!? Aren’t those with inside information saying that TU sets have ALREADY been destroyed like E! News? I would welcome this timeslot with open arms. I can just hear the theme song now: Give me a reason, give me a sign...LOL
When’s the last time a Friday series commanded more than $100,000 in ad rates? Family Matters (ABC)
In most cases, I think CBS should stay status quo. But with NBC (generally their biggest competition) bailing at 10:00 for Leno, it seems like it would be in the best interest for CBS and their affiliates to bone up in the 10:00 hour leading into the news.
If I were CBS, I’d get aggressive next year. Because NBC is fooling around with this Leno thing, CBS should re-tool to maximize their opportunity to bolster 10:00 with all proven hits. Their affiliates would approve – putting hits from 8-9 and 10-11 and using 9-10 to develop new shows (except Monday). It’s a bit more of a drastic move, but with NBC giving up 10:00, they have an opportunity to dominate that hour.
MONDAY 8:00 How I Met Your Mother 8:30 Happiness Isn’t Everything 9:00 Two And A Half Men 9:30 Rules Of Engagement 10:00 CSI: Miami
TUESDAY 8:00 NCIS 9:00 Back 10:00 Criminal Minds
WEDNESDAY 8:00 Big Bang Theory 8:30 Gary Unmarried 9:00 The Mentalist 10:00 CSI: New York
THURSDAY 8:00 Survivor 9:00 Washington Field 10:00 CSI
FRIDAY 8:00 Ghost Whisperer 9:00 Cold Case 10:00 Numbers
SUNDAY 7:00 60 Minutes 8:00 Amazing Race 9:00 NCIS Spinoff 10:00 Without A Trace

With CBS, I think they will keep the exact same schedule they have now for Fridays in the fall. Numbers might be moved to 9 PM and Flashpoint to 10 PM, but the lineup will remain entact. It does well enough that CBS doesn't have to waste any resources in changing it up.
