At a first glance, I would first observe that only FOX has the right sort of programming in place for Saturday nights when it comes to ratings. The theatricals on CBS and ABC seem to have cancelled each other out, and the triptych of Law & Orders certainly didn't carry over their rating powers from Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
I'm curious how MyNetworkTV did on Saturday night with the return of NFL Total Access and Control Room Presents. What with the playoffs and the Super Bowl just around the corner, one would hope that NFL Total Access will finally start delivering a decent number. And the Control Room Presents episode on Saturday was an awards show honouring the best performances on that series in 2007, so it should have gotten a good number too.

Why isn't CBS poking at the NFL to move that Sunday daytime NFL playoff game to Saturday night instead? The crushing CBS could have put on the other networks would have translated into a massive boost in the weeklong average.
Meanwhile, I found nothing on the networks worth watching Saturday night and instead opted for 3 episodes of Girlfriends on BET. Good stuff.
This really wasn't an end of the world Saturday for the nets this week. CBS will likely get trigger happy and go back to procedural repeats on Saturdays here soon and that may end up helping ABC's movies, which from what I've seen are a much more high profile crop as a whole. If I were to guess, I'd say the Law and Order trio were the same eps from earlier in the week.
On the good side, WGA and AMPTP may be talking again by tomorrow: Those conversations are expected to lead to an informal face-to-face session this week, possibly as early as Tuesday.
On the bad side, the two groups are still far apart on agreement for online royalties: TV writer Jim Adler, noted that the DGA deal for paid downloads yielded less than a third of the royalty rate sought by the WGA, and he was skeptical about the 17-day window of free Web streaming of programs before residual fees kick in.
Anyone care to guess about whether the WGA will sign a new contract before SAG?
The two championship games have always been on the same day so one team doesn't get an extra day to heal and prepare for the Super Bowl. That would probably be the biggest impediment to getting a Saturday night game.

Add in the MyNetworkTV demo and you have 2.8 in A18-49 that just disappeared at 10 pm (or carried on with FOX/MNT affiliate programming).

I don't think the networks have much traction on pressuring the NFL. The pressure is usually the other way, hence the ridiculous rights fees. The NFL knows the Sunday afternoon games will almost assuredly be watched by more people than a Saturday night game.
Yep. That won't change. College Basketball might do it, but only for CBS.
Before the Sunday night thread pops up, I will say that was one of the most satisfying Finales for "The Amazing Race". The Winners won for being the quickest at the Final Road Block, not for just getting lucky at getting a cab.

They can give the conference winner of the Pro Bowl that extra day.
