-Ratings Breakdown: ABC closed the week of Feb. 26 on a winning note, with a first-place Sunday finish in total viewers and adults 18-49, and an advantage over No. 2 CBS of 680,000 viewers and a hefty 55 percent in the demo. NBC and the CW shared the No. 3 and 4 spots, while cellar-dweller the CW was barely visible.
CBS’ older-skewing 60 Minutes was the most-watched show at 7 p.m., with 12.99 million viewers, but ABC’s also veteran America’s Funniest Home Videos was No. 1 among adults 18-49 (2.9/ 9). 60 Minutes ranked second in the demo (2.5/ 7), while AFHV was No. 2 in total viewers (9.68 million). Obviously, the two shows will remain intact in this time period next season.
Also in the 7 p.m. hour was NBC’s uneventful Dateline (Viewers: #3, 5.82 million; A18-49: #3t, 1.7/ 5), Fox comedies American Dad R (Viewers: #4, 3.79 million; A18-49: #4t, 1.7/ 5) and the time period premiere of The War at Home (Viewers: #4, 4.31 million; A18-49: #4, 2.0/ 6), and two repeat episodes of the CW’s now defunct Reba (Viewers: #5, 2.52 million; A18-49: #5, 0.9/ 3). Needless to say, the cancellation clock is ticking on The War at Home.
ABC moved into the winner’s circle at 8 p.m. courtesy of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (Viewers: 14.63 million; A18-49: 5.3/13), which built from lead-in America’s Funniest Home Videos by a significant 4.95 million viewers and 83 percent among adults 18-49. Second was CBS’ The Amazing Race: All-Stars at an improved 10.74 million viewers and a 3.7/ 9 among adults 18-49. Growth for The Amazing Race out of 60 Minutes in the demo was a considerable 48 percent -- hence the honorable mention. Damn that Rob Amber!
In series-premiere news, Fox comedy The Winner was marginally sampled with 7.10 million viewers (#3) and a 3.5/ 8 among adults 18-49 (#3) at 8:30 p.m. Comparably, retention out of lead-in The Simpsons (Viewers: #3, 9.09 million; A18-49: #2, 4.2/11 at 8 p.m.) was respectable at 78 percent in total viewers and 83 percent in the demo.
Also in the 8 p.m. hour was NBC reality dud Grease: You’re the One That I Want (Viewers: #4, 6.21 million; A18-49: #4, 1.8/ 5), and a two-hour repeat of America’s Next Top Model on the CW (Viewers: 2.21 million; A18-49: 0.9/ 2 from 8-10 p.m.). Why does NBC keep hiring Billy Bush?
ABC led the 9 p.m. hour, of course, courtesy of Desperate Housewives, but 18.26 million viewers and a 7.4/17 among adults 18-49 is a noticeable decline from the average 22.24 million viewers and a 9.3/21 in the demo from 2005-06. Second in the hour was CBS’ older-skewing Cold Case (Viewers: 13.20 million; A18-49: 3.3/ 8), which is a shoo-in for renewal for the posters at PIfeedback wondering, followed by the time period-premiere of NBC’s Deal or No Deal (Viewers: #3, 10.99 million; A18-49: #2t, 3.3/ 7). Comparatively, Deal or No Deal was an improvement over the most recent performance of former occupant The Apprentice 6 (Viewers: 6.04 million; A18-49: 2.3/ 6 on Feb. 18) of a hefty 4.95 million viewers and 43 percent in the demo, with double-digit growth over lead-in Grease: You’re the One That I Want.
A second episode of Fox sitcom The Winner dipped to 6.07 million viewers (#4) and a 3.1/ 7 among adults 18-49 (#4) at 9:30 p.m. Comparably, retention out of lead-in Family Guy (Viewers: #4, 8.52 million; A18-49: #2, 4.4/10) was a disappointing 71 percent in total viewers and 70 percent in the demo. The second half of the expanded America’s Next Top Model repeat on the CW capped off the 9 p.m. hour with 2.16 million viewers and a 1.0/ 2 among adults 18-49.
Leadership at 10 p.m. was mixed between ABC’s Brothers & Sisters and CBS’ Without a Trace, with the time period premiere of NBC’s fading The Apprentice 6 in the distant No. 3 spot. Take a look:
Last night B&S was great! Sara telling Rebecca about her father to get even with Holly: classic. Every episode gets better, IMO. I really hope the show sticks around. Quality writing and acting. ABC needs to have a couple of new shows on continuously though. There's only a new episode every other week, it seems, which kills momentum.

The War at Home is the only sitcom i watch these days so i'll probably have sitcom-less season next year. So-so numbers for B&S and DH. But the good news for DH is that the decline has stopped.
Marc--I thought I'd heard that "Apprentice" had already received a go-ahead for another edition, this time set in Miami. Is this true? Is NBC under some sort of obligation to run another low-rated season of this reality show (or are they just afraid to be tongue-lashed by Donald in the media?)? Or can the net go ahead and still cancel these plans?
It certainly seems that this show drags down the net anywhere it airs...Mr. Trump certainly can't complain about not getting a fair shake...NBC has bent over backward to try to get this show to succeed.
Nice to see Without A Trace (and the other CBS Shows) get back to a normal schedule and ratings. I was afraid all the recent preemptions and delayed start times would permanitely hurt the shows.

According to USA Today NBS has still to decide on another season (which would be set in Miami).
My favorite new show this season is by far Brothers & Sisters. But I would really like to see the ratings increase, when ABC airs 6 consecutive episodes starting April 8 with the season finale on May 13.
They could always schedule it for Saturdays and burn them off, perhaps even two episodes a week

I hope CBS find AMAZING RACE number satifactory enough to green light two more editions for fall 2007 and spring 2008.
Hard to believe it MAKEOVER gets more viewers. Must be a female driven audience over there where as TAR has more of a family appeal (despite Eric shouting about his girl friends boobs every five second during the fish competition!)
