I have to doff my hat to the producers, though. They really did a nice turnaround of the series at mid-season, and made it into a much more enjoyable show.
The 'Heroes' producers could look to the 'Knight Rider' re-jig for lessons learned on how to get a series back on track.
I agree with dumont that a modern take on Dallas would be fascinating and readily-built. Dallas was a generational show to begin with, and to follow that next generation would be really interesting - especially as the oil industry is a lot more hated these days than they were in the 80's.
I admit I was thinking the same thing when watching an episode on DVD the other week.
It certainly makes more sense than sequelizing Melrose Place, which, despite having some memorable characters the first time around, never really had a "hook" beyond "these people live in this apartment building." And remember, the original MP didn't catch on until Heather Locklear came on, and now, what person in the CW's target demo even knows who Heather Locklear even is?

If I had the ear of Miss Ostroff, I would have told her that as tempting as the 'Melrose' spinoff might be (and I agree with you, it has a limited premise), the better spinoff that would have created more sensation and buzz for The CW would have been to update the 'Models, Inc.' series, which was itself a spinoff of 'Melrose Place'.
With 'Models, Inc.', they might even be able to speak with Miss Tyra Banks about working in a realistic 'America's Next Top Model' crossover (as opposed to the very lame past attempts with crossovers to 'One Tree Hill' and 'Veronica Mars').
But, alas, I am so very far from the earshot of Miss Ostroff, I might as well be pontificating from Pluto!

Now, a new Daily Game for the upcoming March 2009 Sweeps!
There was an error in the coding for the game set for Thursday, March 5 (confused with this weekend's Daylight Savings Time!) so from now until 9:00am eastern Friday, you can still play tonight's shows only. Of course, you can play any future date as well. Play right now! (click on the sweeps game logo above)

One of the CW pilots in development right now is called: The Beautiful Life and is a drama about a group of models living together in New York.
All I can say is the Playboy Playmates are about to takeover 2009 and Holly Madison being on Dancing being a replacement for Jewel is going to be hella funny!
This Holly Madison is really dumb and looks like Gwen Stefani.
Even more dumber but more funnier is Kendra Wilkinson.
Guys check out these two interview vids I found on YouTube during Chelsea Lately last year.

The should just rerun the episodes of Models Stink. No one will know the difference and it should pull the usual CW ratings. Throw CPW in for good showing.

As for Lost, yes, I still enjoy the show. But, let’s be honest: does anyone have any idea what happened last night? It’s truly insane already!
I feel sorry for you, Marc. With the amount of TV you have to watch for a living, it is no wonder it's hard for you to follow. I think I know what's happening, but it took me about 20 minutes to get back in the groove. It's like putting down a novel for a week and watching a dozen movies before reading the next chapter. I love the show, but they aren't making it easy for folks.
