I've been crticized yesterday for wanting VL to bomb. Well not even in my dreams i imagined it would be such a disaster. Why CBS had so much faith in this show is beyond me. I mean they gave it a preview after the strongest lead0in possible. They could've done that with Cane GA is not anymore the HIT (like last season). I mean DH looks like ABC's jewel this season

quote: Shocked by Vivas #s... Guess people do listen to critics.
Sometimes, but this wouldn't have caught on if all the critics had raved about it. Name ONE show like this that ever succeeded. quote: Supernatural #s are disappointing.
Still high enough to give it a shot at another season. On CW. quote: Glad the hour versions of the office are over.. they have been dragging...
They fly by for me. I wish it were practical to do every episode at that length, but it probably isn't. quote: CSI and Greys.... when was the last time CSI beat Grey's in a head to head new episodes by that much?
Still a tie, though. The demo doesn't count for everything, but the HH lead isn't enough to offset the demo lead. Greys could bounce back once The Office isn't on for a full hour. No reason to think CSI will benefit much from that. quote: PDs should take a good long look at Ugly Betty. Don't get too quirky or you'll lose viewers.
Like Arrested Development hadn't already taught us that? Anyway, the show that's going to teach us that lesson this year is Pushing Daisies. quote: I didn't miss an episode for most of the first half of last year and then it got SUPER quirky and I lost interest.
It was always very quirky, but I know what you mean. They lost some of the early potential from running in place. They're afraid to let go of the ugly part, so they ended up stinting on the betty part.

VL's crash and burn is getting all of the attention, but this race above is the one with the most meaning. We are seeing two of the biggest shows on TV battling head-to-head and it seems that CSI is slowly gaining the advantage. I didn't watch the last couple weeks of Grey's Anatomy, but I did turn it on when I decided that I just couldn't sit through my timeshifted dose of Earl. It only took about 5 minutes of Grey's before I turned that odd as well. With CSI doing 'the big storyline' right now and Grey's being the same old tripe as always, this race may just have CSI ahead in the demo soon.
Just wait until the crossover episode with WAT. Both series will see a nice bump in the numbers.

I actually thought Grey was the best it has been in a long time last night. And Sara Ramirez (Callie) could win an emmy if she submits this episode for supporting actress next year.

For "Whom" ???? quote: Originally posted by PaulC: Agreed. Last nite was spectacular. quote: Originally posted by pisher: quote: P.S. What on earth happened to "Earl" and "30 Rock?" And, more importantly, why won't it hurry up and happen to "The Office?"
Um, because The Office is better than everything else on the networks combined? Nah, that can't be it. Even though it IS.

Last night's Smallville was a really good, fun episode. I don't think the show is spent creatively. As for Tom Welling, I believe he is already signed through Season 8, should there be one. And given these numbers, there should be. Maybe it's just me but I often find the Jim-Pam thing on The Office to be kind of annoying. I know we're supposed to like them, but they're rather cloying. Otherwise it's a great show. quote: Originally posted by pisher: You know, I'm having a harder and harder time seeing how CW can let Smallville go, assuming Tom Welling is willing to go on without too big a pay increase. Not unless it falls considerably. There's no creative reason for it to continue, of course. But then again, I never thought there was any creative reason for it to be on in the first place. Others clearly disagree.

Umm....Dirty Sexy Money. A much, much better fit after Grey than Big Shots. And Big Shots is a much better fit on Wed after Private Practice. ABC screwed up doing this from the very beginning.

Hmmm actually, not. Considering it has to fight against GA, CSI and now The Office. Throw in the mix baseball and the fact that the station kept cutting out because of weather in some parts (posters were complaining and there was tornado warnings) I'd say we ended up doing ok, since other CW shows that have less competition are doing worse.

They should've started with DSM after GA, but now i think it's too late. I don't think DSM will do better than BS

They have nothing to lose by at the very least, trying it out and switching both shows. Just see what happens for 1-2 weeks. At this point, if both shows are on the bubble (though some would argue that neither are), why not try?

Why do you want The Office to do badly in the ratings? It's a solid show that is well liked. I think its ratings are good too considering the competition.

I agree that they made a big mistake last night. On the other hand, I don't find the gravedigger all that inspiring what with his begging to be voted off and all. The reason Survivor remains strong in the ratings after so many seasons is that these 'twists' really do prevent the game from being too predictable.
