-Ratings Breakdown:
It was a night of Wednesday leadership, with CBS the most-watched network (1.92 million more viewers than second-place ABC), and ABC No. 1 among adults 18-49. Third overall was NBC, followed by Fox and the CW.
NBC’s established Deal or No Deal was the most-watched show at 8 p.m. (with its best rating among adults 18-49 since December 11, 2006), but week three of ABC’s Pushing Daisies led among adults 18-49. Take a look:
Wednesday 8 p.m.
Deal or No Deal (NBC)
Viewers: 12.29 million (#1), A18-49: 3.1 rating/9 share (#2)
Pushing Daisies (ABC)
Viewers: 9.75 million (#2), A18-49: 3.6/10 (#1)
While certainly not a big it, it looks like Pushing Daisies is settling in for a respectable run as the ABC Wednesday anchor. CBS’ disappointing Kid Nation and Fox sitcoms Back To You and ‘Til Death shared the No. three and four spots from 8-9 p.m. as follows:
Wednesday 8 p.m.
Kid Nation (CBS)
Viewers: 7.41 million (#3), A18-49: 2.4/ 7 (#4)
Back To You (Fox) – 8 p.m.
Viewers: 6.91 million (#4), A18-49: 2.3/ 7 (#3)
‘Til Death (Fox)
Viewers: 6.98 million (#4), A18-49: 2.7/ 7 (#3)
One year earlier, former CBS occupant Jericho was considerably stronger at 10.88 million viewers and a 3.1/ 9 in the demo on Oct. 18, 2006. Growth for ‘Til Death out of Back To You of 17 percent among adults 18-49 is, meanwhile, worth positively noting. Capping off the 8 p.m. hour was America’s Next Top Model on the CW at a still healthy 4.97 million viewers (#5) and a 2.5/ 7 among adults 18-49 (#3t).
CBS’ Criminal Minds and ABC’s Private Practice shared bragging rights from 9-10 p.m., while week four of NBC’s Bionic Woman sunk to a series-low. Take a look:
Wednesday 9 p.m.
Criminal Minds (CBS)
Viewers: 14.87 million (#1), A18-49: 3.9/10 (#2)
Private Practice (ABC)
Viewers: 11.81 million (#2), A18-49: 4.3/11 (#1)
Bionic Woman (NBC)
Viewers: 8.52 million (#3), A18-49: 3.3/ 8 (#3)
The still positive news for Bionic Woman is, however, growth from year-ago occupant The Biggest Loser (Viewers: 7.54 million; A18-49: 3.2/ 8 on Oct. 18, 2006) of 980,000 viewers and three percent in the demo.
Capping off the 9 p.m. hour was Fox’s just renewed Kitchen Nightmares (Viewers: #4: 6.88 million; A18-49: #4, 3.2/ 8), and the CW’s Gossip Girl (Viewers: #5, 2.42 million; A18-49: #5, 1.2/ 3). While I understand that serialized dramas need time to find an audience, retention out of Top Model of just 49 percent in viewers and 48 percent among adults 18-49 is just not good. Former occupant One Tree Hill averaged 2.97 million viewers and a 1.3/ 3 in the demo one year earlier.
CBS’ veteran CSI: NY remains the show to beat at 10 p.m., with 13.86 million viewers and a 4.1/11 among adults 18-49. Second was ABC’s Dirty Sexy Money (Viewers: 8.83 million; A18-49: 3.1/ 9), followed by NBC’s Life (Viewers: 7.66 million; A18-49: 2.8/ 8). Both hour performed similarly disappointing to year-ago occupants The Nine on ABC and Dateline on NBC.
