It will not be a matter of losing the 3 characters, but how well they cast the new cast members.
Some series like Cheers continued to grow as it had major cast changes.

A cable Net like VS. would be a perfect home for The Mole.

Perhaps they'll cast actors this time around instead of stage dummies...

Is that Versus? If so, I don't know why? It already repeats on Fox Reality. I see that as the best option. If the show could get back above a 2.0 demo, it may have a chance with ABC.

There is nothing comparable to Mr. David Caruso staring down upon the scene of a murder, placing his sunglasses upon his forehead, and boldly declaring "This is a Crime Scene Investigation!"
CSI won't be the same without Grissom, even if the ratings are.

I believe The Mole will soon return to its burrow, this time for good.
As for CSI...look how well L&O has handled a whole blarsh of actors/char changes. Why couldn't CSI do the same? (My fave L&O eps are those with Orbach & Noth, but none are really too bad, either.)
I bet ABC is glad they added an extra special on the Mole. Now they have two hours that underperformed for the week. I understand they want to burn it off, but its dragging down their numbers. Even with their half hour gains, a show not even getting above 4 million isn't acceptable, even for summer fare.
The good news for NBC is Nashville Star built off American Gladiator's numbers. Since one of the prizes isn't becoming a gladiator for next season, is it safe to assume that this will be its last season?
Thats so sad. Its really going to be hard for the show. The shows ratings are not what they used to be since the strike, and now 3 main caracters gone with in a year. I hope the ratings will not plumit.

I don't think it will be a melt down. As someone said before, its all about the casting. There might be a ratings dip, but not a disaster. Like L&O, there are enough fans of the show to keep watching after the departure of certain actors. After ten seasons, its almost expected that there would be cast changes.
