I think it'd be a good chance - FOX will probably want to see how the show does in a regular environment. The show DOES seem to be pulling in the scifi/genre/online fans which haven't been looking at FOX in a while, which I'd take as good. But either way, I think they'd at least order some episodes for next season before even considering pulling the plug.
Often times shows like House had slow starts, but once FOX found the right "fit" things were fine. Hopefully it'll be that way for SCC, too.
I'm not here regularly so I don't know everything about the posters here,
And that's why you're going to talk about one of the posters, instead of the ratings. Okay.

Yeah, but always DIFFERENT shows, because they keep getting canceled, darnit. Spoil my fun.

This is especially true if it is in any way related to the guy who created Angel, Buffy, Serenity, Firefly etc. (Blanking on his name).
Heretic.

I'm pretty sure the Terminator was on the show Firefly, so he hates it.
Nah, I'd hate it anyway--hated the idea of it before I knew she was on it (and anyway, I've got nothing against Summer Glau, an attractive young woman who simply doesn't have star power or serious acting chops, not that her roles have really called for them). Having the Browncoats ONCE AGAIN predict dazzling success for a show with a Firefly alum on it, which once again fails to deliver (as it already has)--icing on the cake.

We all have shows we don't like,

Yes, and I am concerned with all of those things.
But being OBSESSED with them hardly helps anything, now does it?
What you call my obsession takes up a few minutes of my time per week. How many of yours are you going to waste psycho-analyzing me for annoying you by posting opinions you were in no way obligated to read in the first place, but did anyway, because you just couldn't help yourself?

Right. But you're interested in why somebody on a forum about TV ratings is talking about TV ratings.

However I agree its numbers are good for FOX.
If it wasn't so expensive to make, and if they hadn't squandered so much promotion and lead-in on it, and if I didn't know the audience was going to get smaller and smaller, I'd agree--good. Not great. But FOX wasn't spending all that money for 'good'. And it won't even be good for much longer.

FOX owns the Terminator franchise, and wants to keep it going, sans Ahnuld. So as I already said, they might well renew it, but it would just go on failing to deliver, and would be canceled in the second season.

Actually, Warner Bros. Television controls the Terminator franchise, in this case. If you're going to bash something at least get the facts right

SCC doesn't seem to be the kind of show you can jump into late though so it may be tough to build up more viewers. But I agree it would get a second season if its numbers hold because they seem good for FOX. It looks like a T4 is being made as well so that may help out the show if it's around long enough.

To this point, I don't think anything has happened in the series that would even slow down a first time viewer for 30 seconds in understanding the backstory. I suppose it might take them a few seconds to figure out that the one cute chick is a robot or that the kid is 'important to the future', but really, there is no 'cannon' that has to be absorbed to make sense of the current episodes as of yet.

I do agree the numbers are good enough to warrant a 2nd season...I'm not sure the show is good enough to make it through a 2nd season. It's an OK show for strike filler, but I doubt it would be growing out of Prison Break if it were facing full-fledged competition in that hour.

Good points about the show and I think you're probably right.

Terminator faced more competition than Prison break, though. Certainly, facing Heroes would be difficult given the demo crossover, but Terminator ratings to this point show that the program would be worth keeping even if it needed to be relocated to a different night.
Funny how everyone thought CBS was the most strike resistant with their crime procedurals repeats. But it turns out that the smartest network in dealing with the strike was NBC, who stockpiled programming, including scripted and unscripted. And the most strike resistant was FOX, who had Idol, as well as the Super Bowl.
CBS' repeats do alright among total viewers. Not so hot in the all important demo (not saying that's right). Fox was in the best shape all along. Only someone who was delusional would've thought they didn't have the season wrapped up. ABC's strike shows are low rated overall, but no worse than NBC or CBS programs in repeats so they're still alright. Adding in Lost and dumping some low rated clunkers would go a LONG way for them. NBC had a good strike strategy but the Apprentice and American Gladiators quickly lost their luster. The comedies are complete disasters in repeats. Their Friday originals that could do alright in midweek or better are instead left on Fridays (although then they would have holes there). CBS's main problems right now are the low demos from Friday nights, Sunday nights, Wed at 8, and Tuesday 9 to 11. Saturdays aren't helping either (but that's not a major problem).
Originally posted by AL: Well, early speculation (or rumors) has 24 coming back in the fall for an abbreviated season, followed by a regular run next January.
Wouldn't an abbreviated season violate the series title/theme/structure?
Of course, filming another 16 episodes for this season and 24 for next season all in one year could also be hard as it would require the star to stay out of jail for the whole year.
I think they have decided that it won't be back this season, no matter when the strike ends. And waiting until next January would mean about 1 1/2 years between seasons. So they have talked about doing a 12 or 13 episode run in the fall. Followed by a regular season next January.
Sounds like you heard only half of the rumours. They consider splitting the season in two halfs, showing 12 episodes this spring and 12 episodes next fall.
The other options are starting in September 2008 (with the start of Season 8 still unclear) or January 2009 which would be the easiest to schedule but too far away.
Since 8 episodes are already finished, the 12/12 split sounds pretty plausible.
I highly doubt they will risk destroying the concept with a shorter season. And why should they? There is no need for a shorter season.
I was expecting at least 10-12 million for Old Christine. It was a really good episode, the show is better than ever, I just hope the show gets double-digit numbers next week.

I disagree about Tuesday at 9:00 pm to 10:00pm .. The Unit has averaged much better demos lately than it did before but you'll never admit it since you hate The Unit .. Also SCC is still impressive despite droppage and beating out PB badly.. PB is continuing its downside pattern and hurting now in demos too. I could easily see FOX moving SCC in the PB timeslot and putting PB on hiatus or cancellation ..

FOX will move PB before SCC . Prison Break is simply losing steam more and more .

Prison Break has it's audience. Terminator is getting sampled just like K-Ville did at the beginning. Once K-Ville had to face established shows in that timeslot, it tanked.
