So, other than the 0.5 demo, we have no clue how Paradise Hotel 2 did in total viewers. I wonder if the mature version that aired later on the FOX Reality Channel did better than the MNTV airing.
Funny how everyone thought CBS was the most strike resistant with their crime procedurals repeats. But it turns out that the smartest network in dealing with the strike was NBC, who stockpiled programming, including scripted and unscripted. And the most strike resistant was FOX, who had Idol, as well as the Super Bowl.
But, with all that stockpiling, and extra cost for the extra series orders, its doing no better than CBS' repeats.
Plus CBS is just now starting to roll out its Stike Season programming. Thursday is Survivor, Next week is BB9, & Jericho. Plus Dextrer on the 17th.
Its just a matter of timing for each network.
ah, I almost forgot that CBS has March Madness coming next Month, so that should be a very nice bump for 3 weeks.
Originally posted by AL: Well, early speculation (or rumors) has 24 coming back in the fall for an abbreviated season, followed by a regular run next January.
Wouldn't an abbreviated season violate the series title/theme/structure?
Of course, filming another 16 episodes for this season and 24 for next season all in one year could also be hard as it would require the star to stay out of jail for the whole year.
I think they have decided that it won't be back this season, no matter when the strike ends. And waiting until next January would mean about 1 1/2 years between seasons. So they have talked about doing a 12 or 13 episode run in the fall. Followed by a regular season next January.

I agree. CBS has stayed on the map while spending no extra money. Now, they have a number of new shows to start that will help them even more. basketball and Survivor will likely find success. jericho will likely be a dud. The real key to their short term fortunes is how Big Brother does when faced with real programming and kids still in school.
Originally posted by AL: Putting a serialized show on a Friday night would be a terrible move. What FOX should do is build a drama night on Sundays and move the animated comedies to Thursdays. Put 5th Grader and Lyrics on Friday nights. This, IMO, would improve ratings on all 3 nights.
I agree that the Animation block would do very well on Thursdays and that 5th Grader & Lyrics would do well on Fridays. But would Bones and what ever other drama(s) do just as goo, or better on Sunday than the Animation block?
It would need to take HOUSE and BONES to do it. But that would then leave a hole on Tuesdays in the fall. Plus, what would you place at the 7pm hour when FOX doesn't have NFL runover and THE OT to fill in?
If FOX put 24 on at 8PM Sundays in the fall, followed by Bones at 9PM, I think the ratings would be great. Not sure about the 7PM hour on Sunday, but they always just dump repeats there anyway. They could still put animated repeats there.

24 is still an unknow at this time.
What would you put in its plce if FOX stayed with just the Usuall Winter/Spring schedule for 24? Only the one season.
I think My Network TV will wind up dropping Paradise Hotel, and it will air solely on the FOX Reality Channel. Probably the best bet as well. After watching both, the cable version is just better. Some scenes are longer, they allow a bit of cursing and some minor nudity. Might as well just make the show an only-cable program, as this will do nothing for My Network tv. Probably did not even crack 1 million viewers.
I'm sure the encore would do well on Monday (an hour prior to the MNTV broadcast) just as it did last time around. Right now, it's more a matter of awareness and getting people to tune in to MNTV for the first time.

When??
They would have to take hit in the rating to do so.

I also don't think CBS is in that bad of shape.
Statistically speaking, we're in a 3-way tie for 2nd place... its that close.
I actually think NBC is going to sink to 4th place. They have nothing new on the horizon that makes me think otherwise. DOND and AG have done incredibly well for them during the strike, but if this is all they have for the remainder of the year, it won't be good enough. If the strike ends, their scripted programming is not enough to take on the other 3.
CBS, as others have mentioned, will do decently with Survivor, NCAA b-ball, and repeats of their procedurals. If the strike ends, their solid procedurals will lift them a ton.
ABC has the most to gain if the strike ends. If it doesn't, I still think they'll beat NBC with their combination of the DwtS, Oscars, Oprah's BG, Lost and EM:HE... and it will be a close race with CBS for 2nd place. If the strike does end, they'll have DH, GA and B&S on the air for May sweeps, and I think they'll beat CBS in May... we'll see if its enough to take second for the year.
BBT does basically the same as ROE & NAOOC. I'd say that's pretty strong considering they have a strong lead-in and BBT doesn't.
And I'm sorry, but increasing on your lead-in by nearly 1 million viewers and half a point in the demo seems pretty strong to me, regardless of HUT levels. Not to mention, BBT was still growing before the strike started...

Old Christine or HIMYM?
Clearly, Old Christine is the one that would be gone. It did well when it first ran behind 2&1/2Men, but never recovered from last season's timeslot change. Along those lines, CBS would be wise not to move Rules of Engagement anywhere else, lest it do the same.
meanwhile, you can keep kidding yourself about how strong BBT is, but it barely outdoes HIMYM in a higher HUT timeslot and closer proximity to 2&1/2Men.
