You know what, I disagree with all the comments about The New Adventures of Old Christine -- in the current environment, when only a handful or shows regularly break 10 million and even fewer garner over a 3.0 in the demo, I woulnd't consider 9.33 million viewers and 3.1 in the demo a "dud." True, it didn't even match the repeat numbers of 2.5 Men, but those numbers are still pretty lofty, even for a rerun. And each of the other networks, especially ABC and NBC, counterprogrammed very well: NBC with their on-going stunt to give away a million on DOND, and ABC with the 20/20 special on Natalie Holloway. And there was SCC on Fox with all the Superbowl coverage, which Old Christine beat. Even without being a fan of the show, objectively I consider it a solid return, and if CBS is silly enough to cancel it, one of the other networks should pick it up to help build up their multi-cam comedy blocks back. When there is such a complete lack of sitcom hits anywhere on tv, I would be very slow in getting rid of anything remotely resembling as having a decent fan-base.

I think the reason both were renewed for this year was their critical acclaim. CBS gets plenty of viewers (overall and in the demo), but they rarely get Emmys. Whether that's enough to get either of them another year now depends on what other options CBS has.

That sounds good, although I believe Christine has a laugh track and Samantha Who doesn't -- they typically don't mix the two, but ABC could definitely use it!
