Ideally I would like to see them program a more family friendly show with Smallville. And have something like SN and Reaper (or something similar perhaps another drama) on another night. Competition wise overall during a normal season I would take Tuesday and Wednesday. Sure there is Idol, but typically (at least last year) Thursdays was as busy as those nights during Spring and were that way of course during the fall.

I would also like to see CW at least attempt original showings on Sundays.

STONE will probably keep slipping every week but the strike will save it. Enough with the pretentious dramas like STONE and DAISIES...can't we get a good show like MAGNUM PI back on the air? That was a great show..good stories, solid characters and not pretentiousness!

Lipstick Jungle is a total waste. I don't know why NBC decided to put on this tired, old formula. Brooke Shields is a terrible actress. NBC would be better off showing repeats of ER than showing another episode of Insert new show here. Cancel it now.

Cool

How long has SN been on the air? Three years or something like that.It has had time to develop ratings, but it has't. Smallville is a known entity with ratings well above SN even though SV is in its seventh season.

You may think SV is crappy but a lot more people disagree with you, and that is shown in the ratings.

If it did, we can expect a drop in ES's final numbers. Last week it lost a 1/2 million viewers and .2 in the demo from fast nationals to the finals.

But the ratings are just a sample of people who watch. There are more people who watch SN, but they do not have a neislen ratings box. I have watched the show since the beginning and I do not have a Neilsen box, so my viewing is not counted.

Peace!!

Same can be said for SV. I just think its a little funny when someone thinks they should move SV out the way for SN. I personally have tried watching SN, but could never get in to it.

Smallville built its ratings while still on the WB and if you haven't noticed, has dropped quite a bit. Smallville is based on a comic book character that draws a lot of fans, and also had movies to help it out. Supernatural started with just a unique idea in a genre not as popular as comic book heroes.

Like I said, to each his own. I find American Idol crap too, and look at the millions watching that.

There are a few different "Final" numbers.

The Numbers Marck postes at the beginning of each days thread are the Fast Nationals. Those are the numbers for each 1/2 hour and matched with the show for that Time Period. If a show like LOST ran long and over into the 10pm hour, those 2 minutes are in Eli Stone's numbers when Fast Nationals are rleased

Later today, the Final Live+Same Day Numbers will be released (TravisYanan usually posts them). Those are the actual numbers for each show.

In about 3 weeks, Live +7 Day numbers will be released. Some other sites only list the top 20 shows from that list.

I am not saying move SV out of the way. I am saying split up SV and SN, putting the shows on different days. Say, keep SV on Thursday nights and move SN to Tuesdays and pair it with something else.

Peace!!

I honestly don't know how any ratings can be considered valid if only some people have a Nielsen box because how can you be sure that you have a fair average? There is no guarantee...the only way you could really trust those numbers were if every household with a TV got automatically a Nielsen box...any other data is just plain wrong...for any show...becuase it is true, I am sure SN ratings would be better if every viewer would count but that can be sad for any show.

And also I find it sad that US TV networks who produce the shows don't take into account what they can sell overseas...some shows have more demand in other countries...it is not every always so centred on the US, at least it shouldn't be...anyway...everyone has their own opinion I guess...I just find it really sad that any excellent TV show (regardless of what show it is) has to depend on ratings that are totally false by definition...crazy...Smiler

Not sure about that. ER now only gets about 3-4 million for a repeat.

FOX Towers Above Other Nets After Eight Days of the 2008 February Sweep:

After eight days of the February Sweep, FOX continues to tower above the other networks in all key measures, with an average greater than the other five networks combined in the young adult demo (FOX 11.16 vs. 5-nets 8.25) and viewership (29.181m vs. 25.590m) averages, while only slightly behind on the 5-net combo on households (FOX 14.5HH vs. 5-nets 16.7HH). This unprecedented lead over its rivals has been fueled by the enormous Super Bowl numbers in combination with the powerhouse American Idol numbers on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

After one week, ABC holds a 0.3 A18-49 margin over NBC for second place in the demo, while CBS holds second place in households and viewership.

After one week, FOX is showing triple-digit year-over-year improvement in demo, households and viewers, with MyNetworkTV also showing significant double-digit year-over-year upward movement (seven nights only). Of the remaining networks, ABC, NBC and The CW are all showing low double-digit year-over-year slippage while CBS (last year's Super Bowl broadcaster) is showing very large year-over-year fall-off.

Also of note: despite the WGA-strike addled line-ups of the six networks, after one week the six networks are showing minor year-over-year erosion: the young adult demo is down by 5% on a year-over-year basis, households are down 6%, and viewership is down by only 2% year-over-year.

The main reason Fox is doing as well as it is, is because it was lucky to have the big events that it did(World series, college bowl series,Super bowl and then of course the return of AI). With the exception of House and 5th grader, I dont recall anything even regestiring a blip on the radar.

I think FOX being #1 for the season was a given once the Stike actually started. I thought it had a chance even without the strike since it had a better fall than it usually has.

Thoughts:
It appears that Lost's repeats are going to be an alright 8pm option so long as Lost can continue to grow by 9 million at 9pm. Eli Stone was so-so with the declines somewhat concerning but its still to early for make or break imo. Another good episode last night though.
Fox's gameshows are some of the most accessible on the air last night and not overused like DOND is.
The CW was down from yearly averages but Supernatural's week to week declines were somewhat alarming. So much I guess for it not having crossover with Lost.
CBS did about what I expected with Survivor continuing to erode.
NBC did mediocre. The DOND ep was below average. The Apprentice did its usual 8 million and Lipstick Jungle debuted right where I expected: in third place with dippage on the way next week.
