Lets not forget that its numbers will drop come Finals. Grey's always has that 1 or 2 minute over run into the next hour.

I know slamming LOM as a loser has become a habit here, but isn't this the second week it a row where it has either stayed even or gone up slightly from the previous week? With all of ABC's problems almost 9 mil and 3.0 in the demo should be considered a success, regardless of the retention from Grey's: the two shows aren't really compatible, and ABC's demo in general is way down throughout the week this season...

Denver isn't much of a market for Smallville anyway, so I don't think it will drop the numbers much. Smallville seems to have really benefitted from the clock adjustment.
Side note: Marc's 10am numbers seemed to point towards Smallville doing worse that usual and now we have this data showing it doing better than usual. Odd fluctuation, IMO.
Survivor will be its only real competition. It may take a small step back with its ratings, but it could reestablish FOX back into the thursday picture.

I think its risky. But Bones always manages to find an audience no matter where it airs. And I think it will definitely jump-start the evening. While it probably won't do as well as it does now, it will clearly help Fox on Thursday.
Originally posted by BlueLick: NBC you might want to consider not ending ER this year. The network at this point can't afford to end its highest rated show of night. If NBC was smart they would either keep ER around or make a new medical show or some type of spin-off to ER.
30 Rock not funny at all and everytime I see 30 Rock in that timeslot I just want SNL to make a move there permanently and bring in Thursday Night Live. Once 30 Rock loses those guest stars the ratings will start going back down to Earl levels. NBC Thursday night is an embarrassment to the very successful Must See TV Lineup (1982-2006).
For one thing, ER needs to end, its been for 15 years. NBC shouldnt rely on old shows to do well, especially if they want to get out of 4th place. NBC is already making a cop drama with the same producers of ER, "LAPD," with Ben Mackenzie from The OC, and it will most likely replace ER if it gets picked up.
Also, you cant claim that 30 Rock's ratings are high because of its guest stars, considering that its had plenty of guest stars in the last two years and its ratings were still low. Truth is, the show has gotten tons of exposure that it would have never gotten otherwise (thanks to Sarah Palin) and now its most likely found an (small) audience. Its also one of the few shows this season to be doing better than its previous season(s).

I checked this board's ratings on Thursdays for The Office last year, and I recall most people, including myself, thinking that the cancellation clock was ticking for 30 Rock and it would not last a 3rd season (or past a 3rd season). However so far it is proving us all wrong.
Sure, NBC made a smart decision by waiting for the GOP to add a Tina Fey look-a-like to their party ticket.
And that would be equal week to week, which is a positive thing.

Bringing the "cop show" debate over from the previous thread...
To me, it's very simple:
"Life on Mars" is a cop show.
Most CBS shows are crime dramas.
If the people from the CBS series who are working on a case show disdain for the police ("This is our case, we're taking over, etc."), that by definition eliminates the series from being a cop show. Therefore, "Without a Trace," "NCIS," "The Mentalist" and (I assume) "Criminal Minds," "Numb3rs" (?) and even "Eleventh Hour" cannot be cop shows.
"CSI" and its spinoffs, and "Cold Case" are the only ones where you can make the argument -- because "CSI" works with the police, and "Cold Case" are the police (Homicide detectives).

I think it's a great move for FOX. I even have to admit, being a loyal "Survivor" fan, that "Survivor" is aging. It's amazing to consider that by the end of spring 2009, "Survivor" will have been on the air for 9 years! Wow! I've seen just about every episode in its entire run!
By the time "Bones" moves to its new time slot, it'll get a week or two-week head start on the new season of "Survivor". And even if FOX takes a small chunk out of the shrinking "Survivor" audience, there's no reason why the two programs couldn't co-exist successfully.
However, I have no confidence that any "Bones" lead-in will help "Kitchen Nightmares". I'm a "Hell's Kitchen" viewer but "Kitchen Nightmares" just doesn't do it for me. Also, it's just not must-see television in that hour, with 3 more appealing shows to watch then ("CSI", "Grey's Anatomy", and "The Office").
ABC Leads in A18-49, CBS Narrowly Regains First Position in Households and Viewership After 8 Days of November Sweep
After the first eight days of the 2008 November Sweep, ABC is in first place in A18-49s with 3.42, with NBC still solidly hanging on to second place with 3.21. CBS is in third, FOX fourth, Univision fifth, CW sixth and MNT last (6 nights only).
In households, CBS is first, just inches ahead of ABC in second, NBC third, FOX fourth followed by the mininets. In viewers, CBS is first, only 87,000 viewers ahead of ABC in second, NBC is third, FOX fourth, Univision fifth, The CW sixth and MyNetworkTV last.
In A18-49, households and viewers, MyNetworkTV is way up from last year. NBC is showing small growth in households and viewers, while Univision is up a bit in viewers too. All other nets are experiencing double-digit declines in all three measures.
Overall for the seven networks, A18-49 demo is down -12% from last year, households are down -11%, while viewers are down -9%.

The data for this this year is five nights of finals and three nights of preliminaries, with last years comparative numbers all being final Nielsen numbers.
Correct me if I am wrong, but if the Football game aired on the CW affiliate last night, then the Fast Nationals will reflect those inflated numbers, that will be adjusted down once finals are published.
I bet the Football game drew at least 200K and 300K viewers in the Denver area.
From Douglas' Individual Market reports, Denver is one of those Markets that do Support its NFL team by watching the games. The Oct. 12th game Denver posted a 34 HH rating and a 61 share for their game.

If consideration for LOM is going to be taken next week so should consideration for DSM. It is completely comparable to LOM in terms of what show comes before it and what that show gets ratings wise.
Bones will do just fine on Thursdays. I'm afraid for Christine and Gary -- can't they move to 9P -- now that american idol will be on at 8? And move CSI NY to 8P or even the Mentalist to WEd at 8? It sucks that it can't be allowed to grow.
As for pushing daisies -- why can't NBC pick it up instead of picking up awful shows like Kath and Kim.
I think Chuck would do better on Thursdays, along with Heroes.
