I think you are right on with viewers, although I do see a slightly higher demo.

I for one, am really looking forward to it. To be honest, more for Jean Smart than Applegate.

The Bachelor will probably see only a slight drop. I'm not sure it fits with Dancing in the first place.

Tonight should be interesting with the arrival of SAMANTHA WHO...I've been looking forward to it as I love Christina Applegate and by chance Samantha is my favorite female name.

Anyone willing to predict the numbers for SAMANTHA? And do you think they will BEAT...the numbers for RULES?

It will probably beat Rules in viewers, but I doubt it will in demo with the older-skewing Dancing as its lead-in.
It had better beat Rules. If it doesn't then ABC may have a big problem on their hands.

I also wonder how The Bachlor will do without DWtS directly leading into it.

I agree that Samantha Who will open to good numbers due to people sampling the show. The real question will be week 2 numbers. If it isn't funny, I could easily see the numbers slide.

You could be right about the demo. I keep forgetting that tonight is the dancing performance show and not just the results, so the demo could be a bit higher. Plus, the show will start 2 mins after the half hour (9.32), so I think many DWTS viewers will stay for that half hour. ABC will probably run countless ads for it during the perforance show.

And the fact that 25 million other people were watching football at the time.

Thank you TV Fan. My thoughts exactly. I mean if a show goes down from week to week--before jumping to your conclusion about people getting tired of it-- look at the extraneous circumstances. And what are they you may ask?? It was up against a heavily popular matchup of football. NOt rocket science here. AFHV will be back to it's regular ratings next week unless there is also another popular matchup then also.

I agree that Desperate is on a roll. I have very much enjoyed the first three eps of the season so far. I can only assume it is only going to get better with the new gay couple moving into the neighborhood in next weeks ep. Dana Delaney is just the shot that this show needed to stir the pot with the other ladies.

I actually see it premiering a tick higher since it is the first really funny comedy after DWTS.

My predictions are 13 million viewers and around a 4.0 in the demo.

The Dallas New England game was over before the 8pm (ET) hour. It only had the not so great NBC game to compete with.

I'm so happy to see Desperate Housewives slowly creeping back to its glory days. While up from this past spring's 15-16 mil range, ratings are no where near season 1 but the show's creativity certainly is! This is by far the best season since the phenomenon of year 1...I truly look forward to the show every Sunday now.

Housewives was only 100K behind Grey's in viewers, based on fast nats. Will be interesting to see the finals. When was the last time an original Housewives beat an original Grey's from the same week?

I tend to agree with this. As great as the lead-in would've been last night, I don't think it's ever a good idea to launch a series premiere at an uncertain time. A lot of people tuning in at 8 probably would've tuned out.

And VL catches an unforseen break
anyway, as BIG SHOTS is doing worse
than even its skeptics might have
imagined.

Rachel Griffiths and Patricia Wettig...you were missed last night.

And I really love the uncle/nephew interaction between Saul and Tommy...that was one of my favorite parts of last night's episode.

Good Point. It should be easy street for VL this week.

With the CW, anything AND nothing is possible.
It may just depend where the spinning of the "decission wheel" stops. Wink
