From Marc's newsletter -- solid results for "A Raisin in the Sun", at least in ratings -- this should translate into very solid viewers and at least respectable demo rating.

Prime-Time Metered Market Monday Ratings: A Raisin in the Sun Leads ABC to Victory
-Percent Change From the Year-Ago Evening (Monday, Feb. 26, 2007) ABC: +49, Fox: -28, CBS: -34, NBC: -37, CW: -43
----------
Note: The fast affiliate results for Monday will be posted at PIFeedback by 12 p.m. ET. Go to the website, click on Ratings Box (the first category), then Last Night’s Results, and Monday, Feb. 25, 2008.
----------
-Yesterday’s Winners: Movie: “A Raisin in the Sun” (ABC), Deal or No Deal (NBC), Two and a Half Men R (CBS)
-Yesterday’s Losers (Excluding Repeats): Welcome to the Captain (CBS), Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious (CW)
----------
-Ratings Breakdown: ABC opened the week on a winning note care of the made-for remake of classic A Raisin in the Sun at a comfortable 9.7 rating/15 share in the overnights from 8-11 p.m. But we’ll have to wait and see if that translates into victory among adults 18-49. A Raisin in the Sun finished first in five of the six half hours as follows:
A Raisin in the Sun (ABC) 8:00 p.m. 9.1/14 (#1) 8:30 p.m. 9.4/14 (#2) 9:00 p.m. 10.1/15 (#1) 9:30 p.m. 10.0/15 (#1) 10:00 p.m. 9.9/15 (#1) 10:30 p.m. 9.7/16 (#1)
Second overall in the metered markets was CBS with its combination of a repeat of How I Met Your Mother (#4: 4.3/ 7), waiting-to-be-axed Welcome to The Captain (3.5/ 5), a repeat of Two and a Half Men (#2: 8.1/12), The New Adventures of Old Christine (#2: 6.5/10), and a repeat of CSI: Miami (#2: 6.4/10). Retention for Old Christine out of the Two and a Half Men encore was a typical 80 percent. Fans of former 9:30 p.m. occupant Rules of Engagement will be happy to know that it will be returning this spring with four new episodes.
Next was NBC care of Deal or No Deal (#2: 9.1/14), which is expected to dominate among adults 18-49 once the fast affiliate results are posted at PIFeedback; week two of reality/competition My Dad is Better Than Your Dad (#4: 4.5/ 7), which seems like a tamer, more feel-good version of Fear Factor; and deteriorating drama Medium (#2: 5.3/ 9). Compared to its week-ago debut (5.1/ 8 on Feb. 18), My Dad is Better Than Your Dad was down by 12 percent in the overnights. Let’s wait and see what the demos look like before we pass any judgment.
Fox opened the evening with a Monday edition of The Moment of Truth (#3: 5.6/ 8), which lost steam minus its recent American Idol lead-in, and 9 p.m. time period warmer Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (#3: 4.9/ 7). For my thoughts on The Moment of Truth (and it will be interesting to say the least), listen to today’s PIPodcast at www.marcberman.tv. Last, of course, was an encore telecast of the CW’s Gossip Girl (1.0/ 2), followed by week two of Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious (1.4/ 2). While Pussycat Dolls did managed to build considerably out of the Gossip Girl repeat, comparably it was down by 33 percent in the overnights from year-ago occupants Girlfriends and The Game (2.1/ 3 each on Feb. 26, 2007).

Ratings Box: What’s Hot/What’s Not
-The Oscars Lose Steam on ABC: It’s hard to knock an annual event that attracts 32.0 million viewers and a 10.7 rating among adults 18-49. But based on the fast national ratings, The 80th Annual Academy Awards on ABC Sunday was down year-to-year (versus the final national ratings for the 79th annual festivities on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007), by a hefty 8.17 million viewers (40.17 to 32.0 million) and 24 percent among adults 18-49 (14.1 to 10.7 rating). The annual Barbara Walters Special also lost steam, with 11.7 million viewers and a 3.2 rating among adults 18-49 from 7-8 p.m. Compared to last year’s telecast (Viewers: 14.53 million; A18-49: 4.7, according to the final nationals), that was a decline of 2.83 million viewers and 32 percent in the demo.
-Monk Season Ender Reaches a New Zenith: USA’s just renewed Monk ended season No. 6 in the Friday 9 p.m. hour with 6.9 million viewers -- its most-watched episode to-date. Comparably, that beat its prior high by 8 percent.
-Survivor: Micronesia Benefits Live Plus-7 Day DVR Usage: Based on ratings for the week of Feb. 4, the season-premiere of CBS’ Survivor: Micronesia increased by 10 percent in both adults 18-49 (4.9/13 to 5.4/14) and adults 25-54 (5.9/15 to 6.5/16), while gaining an additional one million viewers (14.08 to 15.09 million), according to live plus seven day ratings.
No way NBC will regain second place now. The really sad part is that ABC should've finished second without the Oscars but low rated junk like Fridays serialized repeats and the 8 to 10pm block on Tuesdays drug the entire lineup down.

I believe that MyNet put out a statement a few weeks back stating that it would no longer air the IFL. The IFL now has a deal of some kind with HDNet.
ah.
I wonder if there is another programming possibility for MyTV to get that is compatitble with the WWE?
That was the one thing the CW was missing. They would get the 4.5 million Smackdown viewers, but very few would watch another program on the network. Nothing else was compatible to bring those viewers back to another part of the week.
I already think the movies MNTV airs, the likes of Jail, Street Patrol, the upcoming Flava Flav trainwreck comedy, and Whacked out Videos are much more compatible with Smackdown than the CW's lineup. Will it boost these shows? Maybe. But it will allow for them to at least get more people to sample their network.
Getting in late, that was the WORST Oscar Telecast I remember seeing! Jon Stewart did OK, but the UPS Opening was lame, the set was uninspired, and the direction was all over the place. Way too many clips. Why was Amy Adams left by herself during her song? They couldn't show a few clips during it? What was with that slippery floor? That pass to soldiers in Baghdad was awkward. Kristen Chenoweth's song had a good production, if only we could see it! And when "Peter and the Wolf" won for Best Short, they didn't play (duh) "Peter and the Wolf"!
The proof's in the ratings, It's past time to fire Gil Cates!!

I agree. MNTV's current programming is already geared towards the teen male audience so Smackdown! should complement its existing shows well. Ceretainly, it is a better fit than with CW.
Did we ever get the Sunday Final Ratings? How did the Oscars Telecast break down in Half-hours?

More buzz about the Busey kiss on Jennifer Garner: from medialife
quote:
Thank God for Gary Busey.
The odd, often volatile actor, a one-time Academy Award nominee and frequent celebreality show participant, may have provided the only buzzworthy moment of this year’s otherwise moribund Oscars.
Video of a rambling Busey crashing an E! pre-Oscars red carpet interview and lunging to kiss actress Jennifer Garner has become a viral hit, receiving a huge number of mentions on blogs, post-Oscars chats and entertainment forums.
It’s the sort of weird moment that just a few years ago would have died quickly because of its you-had-to-be-there quality.
But now, with YouTube, MySpace and just about every TV network airing their own online video, the Busey buss may be the only thing that lives on from this Oscars, which pulled the lowest viewership numbers ever with 32 million tuning in.
The 2-1/2-minute clip, which has been dubbed “When Busey Attacks,” has drawn more than 400,000 hits on YouTube alone and thousands more on ABC News, Dogpile, AOL Video and more.
“In an evening with few surprises, Gary Busey's cameo during Jennifer Garner's E! interview remains a highlight. Busey's demeanor can be most appropriately described as ‘spirited,’” writes Dallas Morning News blogger Jason Sheeler.
Here’s what happened. E! host Ryan Seacrest was about to do the usual “what are you wearing” with Oscar nominee Laura Linney and presenter Garner when a somewhat disheveled Busey wandered over.
He exclaimed to Seacrest, whom he’d never met before, “You! I've been looking for you for years!”
Seacrest replied, “Oh no. What have I done?”
“It’s what you haven’t done,” Busey declared before wandering away. Seacrest resumed his interview but was interrupted again a minute later when Busey lurched toward Linney to congratulate her on her nomination.
Seacrest then introduced Busey to Garner, whom the 63-year-old hugged and kissed like a long-lost friend. When the interview finally resumed, a miffed Garner responded to a question about her daughter by saying, “Ask me about getting kissed on the red carpet by this man. That was nice.”
Busey ended the strange interaction assuring Seacrest that the two of them would talk again soon.
Actually, they caught up Monday when Busey agreed to guest on Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio program. Though Busey was supposed to be explaining what the heck he’d been doing on the red carpet, he mostly rambled and anointed Seacrest “an innocent champion of honesty.”
