-Adults 18-49:

-Below Average:

-Yesterday’s Losers (excluding repeats)
Jimmy Kimmel’s Big Night of Stars (ABC)

----------

-Ratings Breakdown:
ABC aired The Emmy Awards, but football-ignited NBC still dominated Sunday with a hefty advantage over the No. 2 network (CBS in total viewers; ABC among adults 18-49) of 7.38 million viewers and 128 in the demo.

Dallas vs. Green Bay on NBC’s Sunday Night Football scored an estimated 18.50 million viewers and an 8.0 rating/19 share among adults 18-49 for the prime-time portion (from 8:15-11 p.m. ET). Earlier in the evening on NBC was pre-game Football Night in America at 8.78 million viewers (#2) and a 3.5/10 among adults 18-49 (#2) in the 7 p.m. hour (which included part of the actual game in the Central Time Zone). Keep in mind, of course, that results for any live sporting event are approximate.

ABC opened the evening with 7 p.m. special Jimmy Kimmel’s Big Night of Stars at a not-so-big 4.63 million viewers (#4) and a 1.2/ 4 among adults 18-49 (#4) from 7-8 p.m. Stay in late night, please, Mr. Kimmel. That led into The 60th Annual Prime-time Emmy Awards at a below-average 12.24 million viewers and a 3.8/ 9 share among adults 18-49 from 8-11 p.m. Take a look at the half-hour breakdown:

The 60th Annual Prime-time Emmy Awards (ABC)
8:00 p.m. Viewers: 10.56 million (#3), A18-49: 3.2/ 8 (#2)
8:30 p.m. Viewers: 13.07 million (#2), A18-49: 4.1/10 (#2)
9:00 p.m. Viewers: 13.19 million (#2), A18-49: 4.0/ 9 (#2)
9:30 p.m. Viewers: 12.69 million (#2), A18-49: 3.9/ 9 (#2)
10:00 p.m. Viewers: 12.06 million (#2), A18-49: 3.8/ 9 (#2)
10:30 p.m. Viewers: 11.87 million (#2), A18-49: 3.8/10 (#2)

One year earlier, The 59th Annual Prime-time Emmy Awards on Fox averaged 12.93 million viewers and a 4.3/11 among adults 18-49 on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007.

CBS was on the map, in particular, due to a prime-time football overrun, which led into 60 Minutes, two repeat episodes of Cold Case and a repeat of Criminal Minds. But since the individual program averages are not accurate due to the football overrun, here are the results for CBS by half-hour:

CBS/Sunday
7:00 p.m. - Viewers: 19.94 million (#1), A18-49: 6.2/19 (#1)
7:30 p.m. - Viewers: 14.63 million (#1), A18-49: 3.4/10
8:00 p.m. - Viewers: 12.78 million (#2), A18-49: 2.9/ 8 (#3)
8:30 p.m. - Viewers: 8.08 million (#3), A18-49: 1.9/ 5 (#4)
9:00 p.m. - Viewers: 8.19 million (#3), A18-49: 2.1/ 5 (#4)
9:30 p.m. - Viewers: 7.43 million (#3), A18-49: 2.0/ 5 (#4)
10:00 p.m. - Viewers: 7.62 million (#3), A18-49: 2.1/ 5 (#3)
10:30 p.m. - Viewers: 5.78 million (#3), A18-49: 1.6/ 4 (#3)

Fox populated Sunday with repeats of American Dad (Viewers: #4, 4.73 million; A18-49: #3, 1.9/ 6), three episodes of The Simpsons (Viewers: #4, avg. 4.94 million; A18-49: #4, avg. 2.3/ 6 from 8:30-10 p.m.) and a one-hour hour installment of Family Guy (Viewers: #4, 5.24 million; A18-49: #4, 2.5/ 6from 9-10 p.m.). And last-place the CW capped off Sunday with repeats of One Tree Hill (Viewers: 1.37 million; A18-49: 0.6/ 2), Privileged (Viewers: 1.11 million; A18-49: 0.4/ 1) and America’s Next Top Model (Viewers: 1.56 million; A18-49: 0.8/ 2).

Would anyone happen to know the ratings for ESPN's broadcast of the Final Home Game for Yankee Stadium (Orioles vs. Yankees)?

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Emmys moved next year from sun. to mon. It wont have to deal with all the football games. I also believe that so many of these awards shows are becoming a thing of the past. I personally did not watch any of the emmys last night because I was able to find out who the winners were online about the same time that the show was starting over here on the west coast, so why would I want to endure a 3 hour snooze fest. I would have to slighty disagree with you Marc on Jimmy Kimmel being labled a loser last night, its ratings were over double what it gets in late night, so that is a win-win for them and abc.

The Emmys are really a disaster. 12 million is barely a hit for a regular show. But that's what happens when you lose touch with the reality. Remember the days when the Emmys were awarded for shows people actually watched?

People do love their Football don't they?
Must be because I thought the Emmy would be a bigger deal.
Hated to see John Hamm not win but I can't root against Cranston either...both were excellent.
Props to IZ on DAMAGES for the Supporting Actor win. He's done many fine turns such as Gov.Devlin on Oz and finally he's been rewarded for his years of HITG performances.

FX and AMC should be proud to boast better dramas than on most of the main stream networks.

God protect TERMINATOR and PRISON BREAK-two of my faves against the ratings juggernaugts they are up against tonight.

Those numbers for the Emmys are below what ABC wanted to launch their premiere week. The fact that it lost ratings in the last hour when the big awards were handed out shows is not a good sign. The whole award show needs to be revised as it was boring and reflected in the ratings drop.

Wow. Look at those SNF numbers. 18 mil and an 8.0 in the demo? If NBC could average just HALF of that with only a THIRD of it's programming, it wouldn't be in fourth place...

Exactly. They shouldn't expect to get good ratings if the shows they highlight are not widely seen. I'm not saying the shows and people that won weren't deserving, but the large number of viewers who watch regular tv are only going to tune in if they can see their favorite actors. When the highlights of the show seem to be the bits with the older shows and actors, that should tell you something. I've seen more discussion about Betty White, Mary Tyler Moore, Don Rickles, Tommy Smothers, and the homage to vintage tv shows than anything else, other than how bad the hosts were.
I did enjoy the Jon Stewart/Steve Colbert and the Steve Carrell/Ricky Gervais bits. I caught those on youtube.

Um, no. Our schedule is not behind the East Coast. Why do you keep saying this?

Anyway, yay for Probst winning the Emmy, as well as TAR.

High rated shows are ALREADY awarded because advertisers pay big bucks.

They should find a balance between what they think is "quality" and what the people actually watch. OK, give a few awards to the cable shows but come on there are a lot of good shows on main networks as well . Give an award to 30 Rock but that's enough.

So what's everyone expecting for the season 3 premiere of Heroes? Both season 1 and 2 opened with 14mil.
