-Ratings Breakdown:
Led by America’s Got Talent, NBC won Tuesday with a first-place finish in both total viewers and adults 18-49. ABC and Fox tied for second (in rating) among adults 8-49.

Week two of ABC’s Wipeout (which finished first for the week of June 23 among adults 18-49) held up well, dominating in total viewers (9.43 million) and adults 18-49 (3.6 rating/13 share) from 8-9 p.m. One week earlier, Wipeout kicked-off with a very similar 9.98 million viewers and a 3.7/12 in the demo. Keep in mind that most new series decline in the vicinity of 10 to 20 percent in week two.

Week two of NBC’s competing Celebrity Family Feud lost some steam with 6.96 million viewers (#3) and a 2.0/ 7 among adults 18-49 (#3). Comparably, that was a decline of 1.86 million viewers (8.82 to 6.96 million) to and 13 percent in the demo (2.3/ 8 to 2.0/ 7) from its debut one week earlier.

Also airing in the 8 p.m. hour was a repeat of CBS’ NCIS (Viewers: #2, 8.03 million; A18-49: #4, 1.3/ 4), Fox’s fading The Moment of Truth (Viewers: #4, 4.60 million; A18-49: #4, 1.8/ 7), and a repeat of benched Beauty and the Geek on the CW (Viewers: #5, 847,000; A18-49: #5, 0.4/ 1).

NBC’s America’s Got Talent was the most-watched show of the evening, with a very healthy 11.98 million viewers and a 3.2/10 among adults 18-49 from 9-11 p.m. Take a look at the half-hour breakdown:

America’s Got Talent (NBC)
9:00 p.m. Viewers: 10.95 million (#1), A18-49: 2.9/ 9 (#2)
9:30 p.m. Viewers: 11.74 million (#1), A18-49: 3.1/ 9 (#2)
10:00 p.m. Viewers: 12.32 million (#1), A18-49: 3.4/10 (#1)
10:30 p.m. Viewers: 12.89 million (#1), A18-49: 3.6/11 (#1)

In week two news, ABC’s I Survived a Japanese Game Show lost a large chuck of the audience, with 6.33 million viewers (#4) and a 2.6/ 8 among adults 18-49 (#3) from 9-10 p.m. Comparably, that was down by 1.67 million viewers and 16 percent among adults 18-49 from it’s week-ago launch (Viewers: 8.00 million; A18-49: 3.1/ 9 on June 25). And retention out of the second half of lead-in Wipeout (Viewers: 10.03 million; A18-49: 3.9/13 at 8:30 p.m.) was just 63 percent in total viewers and 67 percent in the demo.

Also airing in the 9 p.m. hour was Hell’s Kitchen on Fox (Viewers: #3, 7.88 million; A18-49: #1, 3.6/11), CBS’ 48 Hours Mystery (Viewers: #3, 7.63 million; A18-49: #4, 1.7/ 5), and a repeat of Reaper on the CW (Viewers: #3, 1.19 million; A18-49: #5, 0.5/ 1).

Tied for the No. 2 spot at 10 p.m. behind the second-half of America’s Got Talent on NBC was a repeat of CBS’ recently relocated Without a Trace (Viewers: #2, 6.72 million; A18-49: #3, 1.6/ 5) and ABC’s Primetime: The Outsiders (Viewers: #3, 5.72 million; A18-49: #2, 2.1/ 6).

Nice to see Wipeout on a roll. ABC finally has the summer hit that it has sorely needed. Too bad about Japapnese Game show, I personally find it quite entertaining to see how the contestants deal with being in another culture.

Now ABC just has to figure out how to expand Wipeout to 3 or 4 hours per week. Wink

While Wipeout continues to do well, I still stand by my opinion that this is going to fade after a few more weeks. If I'm wrong I'll say so but for now I'm standing by my original opinion.

I agree about ISaJGS. The actual game competition is OK, but the cultural aspect of the game makes it entertaining. We need a little more Mama-Son.

Wipeout held up well in its second week. I'm still not sure if it's strong enough to be on during the regular season.

Another good week for Wipeout, but ABC needs to be very careful in not overexposing this show. I have a feeling the show will return as early as December -- SAG strike or no SAG strike -- but the Alphabet should take a close look at a certain FOX show that aired opposite Wipeout last night and learn from its mistakes about overexposure.

CFF -- not surprised at the show's tumble, given the low-wattage celebs and poor gameplay as a whole. Could it hurt this show to promote the daytime version of FF which, I believe, was one of the few syndies to see a ratings increase this past season?

Japanese Game Show -- I'm curious if this show will see a ratings increase once HK finishes its run?

How/why would you say that MOT was "Over Exposed?" Roll Eyes

It never aired more than once a week and, befor this short summer run, was off the air for about 2 months

MOMENT OF TRUTH is turning out to be a match head.

Strike it and it burns brilliantly and then eventually flames out. I would be a much better show if they speeded things up. THey drag out the questions way to long...much the way DEAL or NO DEAL would be great if they eliminated spending any camera time on family and friends egging on the contestant.

FOX might want to re-think having MoT anchor Thursdays in the Fall.

Agreed! When they come back from commercial break, they repeat the previous few minutes of the show as a recap. How much is the average viewer going to forget in two minutes?

^More from watching this show than they did before. Shows these days are dragged out to promote short attention spans.

It's overexposure because that's two runs that are close together. It's ratings were inflated by the AI lead-in, but it can't hold up on its own.

This is a good reason for Wipeout to remain a summer staple.

I Survived a Japanese Game Show, I think I would cut the reality part and just have a game show. I found all the other drama outside of the game show to be quite drull.

And die Moment of Truth. It is a crap show that is just dirty and encompasses all that is wrong with society. The shock value has worn off and it is on its way out the door.

there is no way one can watch the show live (and i always to the DVR method for this one and am amazed how quickly I can get through this show). They repeat so much of it to stretch out one contestant (usually)for the entire hour. It's now biting them in the behind.

FOX is pretty good at this. Last Nights Hell's Kitchen was all review content until 10 minutes in the show. With all the other "Fluff" from this episode, I was able to watch the 60 minute episode in just 25 minutes. That is usually not the case for HK.

I guess they wanted one more episode, so last night was the "Extra" fluff episode.
