I just watched The Forgotten, and it wasnt that bad. Not great, but still worthy of DVR'ing.

If the CW wanted to "spin" things favorably to them by picking another date for comparison or using "Everyone Hate Chris" and "Girlfriends", then I'd get it. I'm use to network cherry picking comparison dates.
This is different. This is claiming the numbers you're using for comparison are one thing, when they're not. That goes beyond spin. That's either a big mistake or outright lying.
The CW is part of a publicly traded company. They have ethical considerations in doing press releases. The CW can't misrepresent what the numbers are to the public like that.
If the numbers here at pifeedback are right, then the CW should retract that press release or fix it to be correct. Otherwise they're lying to the public.
The CW is NOT offering wrong numbers, guys/gals. The ONLY thing it is doing is leaving off the numbers from the year ago night, just saying that Smallville gave the best performance between that night last year and last night. It is not saying that Smackdown got those same numbers but that nothing AFTER Smackdown has done as well as Smallville did last night.
It's not that hard.
The press release should read something like this:
"The premiere of SMALLVILLE scored our best performance in the Friday 8pm hour among adults 18-34 (1.0/4-tie), adults 18-49 (1.0/4) and total viewers (2.5mil) in a year (Sept. 26 2008 - Smackdown), when Smackdown scored..."
And then it would list Smackdown's ratings from the year ago.
But The CW doesn't want to list the ratings from the year ago, because that would show how far the network has fallen. It would show that it's grasping at straws. 2.5 million is certainly no 4.2 or 4.4 or whatever Smackdown got, but it IS the highest rating SINCE then. Effectively, it's the best performance "in a year." There's nothing illegal or unethical about saying that.

Wow, those FOX numbers are horrible. If they drop any lower then I don't think Dollhouse has a realistic chance of getting all 13 second season eps aired.
And the L&O mothership really isn't an 8 pm show. NBC messed up bigtime. Maybe they should just move it to USA cable (like Criminal Intent).

Perhaps move Law and Order to Wednesdays at 9pm, and save Law and Order: SVU for midseason and air it Sundays at 10pm. Sundays could be: 7pm - Dateline 8pm - Celebrity Apprentice (2 Hours) 10pm - Law and Order: SVU
NBC could even hold Law and Order for midseason and air it at 10pm on Sundays.
I have a feeling one of the Law & Orders, probably SVU, will be going to Sundays at 10pm come midseason. SVU is too strong of a show to waste on Wednesdays at 9pm, and would probably considerably better out of Celebrity Apprentice at 10pm on Sundays.
Then, I'd move Law & Order back to Wednesdays and shift Heroes to Fridays putting Parenthood on Mondays. It's complicated, but it could work.
Or that, lol. I think NBC would be more likely to let go of Heroes, though. Would they really cancel both shows, especially if these new dramas dont work?
Well, Tuesdays and Thursdays will always be set for NBC. I think the biggest thing for NBC now is hoping that either Parenthood catches lightning (Which If I recall is what many of us were thinking) or L&O and SVU show improvement and prove them can headline an entire night.

There's no way NBC is getting rid of Law & Order. NBC has much bigger problems right now than a show that's a bit past its prime, especially if Leno goes away -- then they'll need a whole lotta programming fast! And it can't ALL be Dateline.

Personally, NBC needs to be like ABC this season. Get a lot of new shows and hope they hit. Be more ambitious with their shows and all that good stuff. I wonder how many things they have in the wings waiting. I know they have Chuck, Day One, Parenthood, 100 Questions and Southland but do they have anything else?

I was clearly watching the show that matches these ratings. And if anything, is still getting better ratings than it deserves.
What a hopeless mess. Whedon has completely lost touch with what he set out to do, in the process of trying to tweak it--and in tweaking it, he's going to lose old viewers without gaining any new ones.
Disappointed as I am with Fringe, it could be half as good as it was this past Thursday, and still be twice the show Dollhouse could ever be. With over twice the audience to prove it.
FOX has proven its point. They were right to cancel Firefly. It would never have caught on. And neither will Dollhouse. And frankly, I think we just have to deal with the fact that Joss Whedon is a one-hit-wonder whose one hit was in creative decline for more than half its run. He lucked into some collective zeitgeist with Buffy, but he hasn't written a truly first-rate script in over a decade, or a good one since the co-authored series finale of Angel (which I suspect he didn't write most of).
Dollhouse is a piece of mindless formula crap strutting around like it was The Sopranos.
