-Friday’s Losers: Brothers (Fox), Smallville (CW), Dollhouse (Fox), The Jay Leno Show (NBC)
---------------
Some Immediate Observations
-Friday overall is still very weak. -Medium fits like a glove out of Ghost Whisperer on CBS. -CBS’ Numbers is likely to be gone by next spring. -ABC got more sampling for encore telecasts of FlashForward, Modern Family and Cougar Town. -NBC remains a mess, with Jay Leno not even able to beat either 20/20 or Numbers. -Fox sitcom Brothers was absolutely dead on arrival, providing no lead-in support for the season-premiere of Dollhouse. -The CW’s Smallville plummeted to its weakest season-premiere ever. This has to be the final season for Smallville.
Good for Medium. The numbers went up during the 2nd half hour which is a great start. It would be nice to see the show last a few more years.
Ghost Whisperer is a little lower than last season from what I recall, but still good numbers.
Do you really think NBC expected higher numbers for Jay Leno? I don't and they aren't as worried as Marc is making it sound. Remember that a 1.5 demo = 300 Million Profit. Let's keep that in mind here. For a true definition of a mess, see CW or FOX Fridays.
I think FOX will continue to flounder on Friday until they bring back GREED!
NBC – Law & Order (season premiere) Viewers: 6.05 million (#2), A18-49: 1.2/ 5 (#3) NBC – Law & Order (season premiere) Viewers: 6.52 million (#2), A18-49: 1.4/ 5 (#3)
Good viewership for a Friday night, very low demo.

aw i'm sad about the low ratings for GW, it hasn't had this low of a rating since Season 3. let's hope with the coming wks it rises again. that said, great to see compatibility like this out of GW.
What's really impressive to me are the ABC repeats last night. For shows that seem geared to a young audience (and that just ran one or two nights earlier) those are impressive numbers. I don't think Greys or Desperate Housewives ever repeat so well on Fridays, did they?
L&O did okay considering there didn't seem to be a lot of promotion for it (at least that I saw) I expect the audience may build as more of its regular audience who are home Fridays discover it.
I don't think Southland is ever going to air on Fridays. I'll bet Dateline stays put and Southland ends ups in one of the (many) holes that start to pop up on NBC's schedule.
Leno? eh... for a Friday, the numbers seemed okay. Certainly not great, but sadly, probably passable.
I'm not going to like this season. I hate time jumps. They have ruined a lot of shows.

Slightly addicted to House and How I Met Your Mother.

Agree that FOX (whose performance may have cost them winning the week in 18-49) and CW are a mess, but at the same time the low numbers for Leno are a concern. Sooner or later will effect the rest of the network and you can see lower results on other shows.
