So Castle's lead-in goes up by half a full percentage point in the demo from the previous week.
And Castle goes up by one tenth of a percentage point in the demo.
And I'm supposed to feel bad about this?
If ABC is desperate enough to renew this show, they will regret it--as they regretted Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone, Dirty Sexy Money, What About Brian, etc, ad infinitum.
And I will get the last laugh. Again.
And mushu will say he always thought Castle was doing badly in the ratings, and he never liked it anyway.
Originally posted by TheMBC: BBT will be the number one comedy pretty soon, it seems. What was that, about 300,000 off 2.5 Men's numbers in total viewers?
HIMYM's episode last night was exactly what you would want from this series, I would even say it's a classic episode, full of the crazy windiness that we've come to love of it.
Well, it depends on your measurement method. Most TV people already consider BBT the # 1 comedy, because it is the 18-49 year old leader. Only CBS values total viewers, and calls Men the # 1 comedy.

I think some people need to see what's really going on here.

I hope ABC does have the guts to repeat Castle as I'm very interested in how it does sans DWTS, too. As a procedural crime drama it should, theoretically, repeat decently.
Dancing with the Stars 9:45-10:00 - 19.328 million viewers - 12.3/19 HH - 4.0/10 A18-49
Dancing with the Stars 10:00-10:02 - 20.599 million viewers - 13.1/21 HH - 4.5/12 A18-49
The 10:30-11:00 segment is stable enough... the question is, of course, "can ABC do better" at 10pm post-DWTS and, history has shown it pretty much can't, so I support to position that Castle will be around next season... but only from a lesser evil / risk-averse standpoint.
Little People, Big World (8pm) - 1.554 million viewers - 1.1/2 HH - 0.5/1 A18-49
Little People, Big World (8:30pm) - 1.716 million viewers - 1.2/2 HH - 0.7/2 A18-49
Jon & Kate Plus 8 (9pm) - 1.939 million viewers - 1.4/2 HH - 0.8/2 A18-49 - 1.6/4 W18-34
Jon & Kate Plus 8 (9:30pm) - 2.348 million viewers - 1.6/2 HH - 1.1/3 A18-49 - 1.9/5 W18-34
*yes, average those together... even as it winds down, Jon & Kate Plus 8 beat Heather Locklear's return to Melrose Place... though on a different night*
Cake Boss (10pm) - 1.793 million viewers - 1.2/2 HH - 0.8/2 A18-49
WWE Raw (9pm) - 4.917 million viewers - 2.9/4 HH - 1.8/4 A18-49
WWE Raw (10pm, 76 minutes) - 5.183 million viewers - 3.1/5 HH - 1.9/6 A18-49

The Nov 30th episode for Castle will be a repeat and ABC was planning to air repeat episodes on Saturdays in December.

How I Met Your Mother (97% coverage, CBS normally is 98%) - 8.162 million viewers - 5.1/8 HH - 3.4/9 A18-49
Accidentally on Purpose (97% coverage) - 7.278 million viewers - 4.7/7 HH - 2.8/7 A18-49
This kind of retention will not get AOP renewed for a second season. AOP's pattern is just like The Class which also got 18 and out.
I think the Class had better retention than this towards the end, but Christine came in that year and they were more willing to work with JLD than try to help the Class grow. If the Class had aired on any other network but CBS (ditto for AOP) we wouldn't be having this conversation. But since its not, keep on chattin!
* One of TV's biggest gainers in the 10 o'clock hour this season, ABC's "Castle" is generating substantial increases over its first-reported numbers through DVR playback, picking up an average 1.7 million viewers and an additional 6-tenths of an Adult 18-49 rating point (+26%) from the initially reported Live + Same Day Numbers to the Live + 7 Day DVR finals.
* On average, "Castle" is greatly improving the time period year to year for ABC, growing its hour over the same nights last year with "Boston Legal" in both Total Viewers (+1.7 million - 10.8 million vs. 9.1 million) and Adults 18-49 (+17% - 2.8/7 vs. 2.4/6).
I FOR ONE AM TRULY SICK OF YOU USING CASTLE AS YOUR WEEKLY PUNCHING BAG PISHER. The show is great, you want to do comparisons -- compare the forgotten after dancing.

These are finals, so yeah, it did.

We know that first half hour is affected by the minute overrun from DTWS.
And that Castle gets sampled by DWTS viewers, and that most of the samplers drop out before 10:30pm.
The second half hour is the real audience. Less than 10mil viewers, 2.3 in the demo. Eminently cancellation-worthy.

We know "Castle" delivers about 9.5-10m viewers and a mid 2 in the 18-49 for first-run episodes.
Excuse me, but a lot of people here do NOT know that. They think it's been doing better. Because we don't always get the half-hourly #'s for Castle.

It doesn't really fluctuate much. We also know Pisher doesn't favor the series. Nothing new here, folks.
Nope. Castle's still a demo flop that can't hold its lead-in, against one other scripted show and Jay Leno--and both those shows went UP at the half hour, btw.
So probably Castle actually lost some viewers to Jay. That might be new.
No that's your style with Fringe "not being good this season". Castle is number 8 on the dvr list and actually increases 1.7 million viewers -- so maybe people are just tired at that hour and/or voting for dancing with the stars. Give it up and move on to a new target. This was old months ago and very irritating, if that's what you want to do is annoy people than you have succeeded.

Easier solution.
Don't read my posts.
And just to set an example--(puts filmakr on ignore).
