Originally posted by yankeesrj12: Pretty good numbers for Survivor considering it was Thanksgiving. I think CBS was able to draw in viewers by saying it was a new episode rather than a clip show.
Compared to the clip-shows of previous seasons it was much "newer"...not only 2 or 3 short new scenes but at least half of it was new material. Finally CBS realized how to do a good clip show which is also interesting for people having seen all the previous episodes so far!

Why did the networks stop airing new episodes on Thanksgiving? Still remember watching the Brad Pitt Thanksgiving Friends episode and the whole family watching.
Seeing how Joey's ratings are better than My Name is Earl -- was it premature to cancel that show since they are now so patient with the low rated single camera shows they have on thursdays now?
This year, Thanksgiving was not during sweeps like in previous years.
When Joey was on a few years ago, ratings expectations were higher than they are today. So adjusting accordingly, MNIE is probably doing better than Joey was.
