I saw "American Gladiators" last night and I was pleasantly surprised at what I saw (hey, a remake that didn't actually suck!)Pretty true to the original series, which I was a huge fan of. It came on every Saturday on WPWR-TV here in Chicago (until 1994.) I heard today NBC is letting some of its O&Os and affiliates to run the first three episodes in non-prime time periods for three weeks starting Jan. 19. I missed Sunday night's premiere, so now I can catch up.
The hosts were okay, but does Hulk Hogan really talk like that?
This show, of course, spawned the "Crash TV" phenomenon in weekly first-run syndication in the early 1990's, which included "RollerGames", "The Grudge Match" and "Knights & Warriors" (which I recall, Samuel Goldwyn - the original syndicator of "Gladiators" at the time - sued to keep the latter program off the air because it was a carbon copy of their show.) Apparently, none of those shows achieved the same success "Gladiators" did.
I'm having a mixed feeling for OTH. Yesterday's episodes were decent, but i'm not so sure this mood change will work for many of the hardcore fans. It seems way too mature now. On the other hand OTH has always been a more serious show than other soapy dramas so maybe the change is not that big after all. Don't know, OTH could go either way
BTW i see that now even OTH has taken out the theme song with the opening credits. I don't know about you but i don't like this trend. I've always liked the shows to have a theme song and opening credits

I missed my gavin degraw! Maybe it was just due to be the first couple episodes. In the past they have opened with just the black scene before to stretch the time. The season 3 finale and the shooting episode come to mind. With the the promotion given to the show this time around lets see if it does anything to the ratings.

Usually with episodes like that, they don't use the theme, trust me, they will probably use it next week. I predict they pulled at least 3 million, it was a very dramatic episode. I can't wait to see next weeks episode.
OK - the promo was funny because I am one that actually recognized that Bay City Rollers love song b4 it was even mentioned. (It actually was one of my favorites even though relatively obscure, which is why I was so intrigued to hear it!).
Perhaps one more week. Thanks for sharing.

Yet another show trying to be another American Idol. These never worked before and won't again. Numbers will be dipping like crazy next week.
And as for October Road. Monday was the series finale for me. The show had promise at one time, but.... RIP.

Just Kiddin'.
Actually, I think AG will be, but it sounds like viewers are not pleased with DW, so its numbers will be down
I am sorry to here that you won't be watching October Road anymore. I do agree that this season has been weaker than last, but here is my reason for at least tuning in next week.
BTW what did everyone think of One Tree Hill this evening? It was actually a lot better then I thought. If ABC does cancel OR the CW should consider picking it up, it would fit prefectly with the flash forward version of OTH.
-Percent Change From the Year-Ago Evening (Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007) CW: +56, NBC: -10, ABC and Fox each: -32, CBS: -33,
----------
Note: The fast national results for Tuesday will be posted at PIFeedback.com by 12 p.m. ET. Go to the website, click on Ratings Box (the first category), then Last Night’s Results, and Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008.
----------
-Yesterday’s Winners: The Biggest Loser 5 (NBC), House R (Fox), Law & Order: SVU R (NBC)
-Yesterday’s Losers (Excluding Repeats): Just For Laughs (ABC), New Hampshire Primary (ABC), The 34th Annual People’s Choice Awards (CBS), One Tree Hill (CW), According To Jim (ABC), Carpoolers (ABC)
----------
-Ratings Breakdown: Led by a season-high performance for Law & Order: SVU, NBC dominated this second Tuesday of 2008 in the overnights. Second was Fox, followed by CBS, ABC and the CW. Another two-hour edition of The Biggest Loser 5 opened the evening for NBC with a solid 6.7 rating/10 share in the metered markets, building in each half hour as follows:
Considering the strength of The Biggest Loser falls in the young adult demographics, expect time period winning results among adults 18-49 once the fast affiliate results are posted on PIFeedback. Next on NBC was veteran Law & Order: SVU, with a solid 11.0/18 at 10 p.m. That was, by far, the highest rated show of the evening.
Fox aired repeats of Bones (#3: 4.6/ 7) and House (#1: 7.7/12) last night and still managed to finish second overall. Yes, that’s impressive.
The ongoing writers strike continues to create chaos in prime-time, with an absolutely awful taped version of The 34th Annual People’s Choice Awards plummeting to a historically low 4.3/ 6 in the overnights. Take a look at the erosion in every half-hour:
Comparably, this was a loss of a massive 49 percent in the overnights from the year-ago telecast (8.4/13 on Tuesday 9, 2007). And all the more reason to get this damn writers strike settled already! For a complete listing of winners, see TV Tidbits below.
ABC had nothing of note to report with its lackluster combination of Just For Laughs (#3t: 4.5/ 7), coverage of the New Hampshire Primary (#4: 3.3/ 5), According to Jim (#4: 3.6/ 5), the return of Carpoolers (#5: 2.5/ 4), and a repeat of Cashmere Mafia (#3, 2.7/ 4). Wasn’t it just great to have Carpoolers back?
Over at the CW was the season-premiere of One Tree Hill (#5: 2.3/ 4), followed by a second episode at a 2.6/ 4 (#5). Comparably, that was a decrease of 26 percent in the overnights from One Tree Hill’s year-ago season premiere (on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006 out of America’s Next Top Model). Without the benefit of lead-in support, it’s off to the loser’s list for One Tree Hill.

OTH doesn't look like a loser to me, but that's just my opinion
Nevermind, I just looked at mark's info again, clearly stated repeat for CM. DUH!!!!! This is what I just can't wrap my head around (despite all you trying to explain it before) OTH had a 2.6/4 Cashmere had a 2.7/4. Does that .1 make that much a difference that CM avoids the loser list but OTH doesn't or was it a repeat? Any guess what that will equal to in millions (or sadly million...)
That is a huge number for L&O: SVU (I'm assuming it was new even thought it is labeled above as a repeat) Was there some kind of special episode last night? (Someone leaving the show or a special guest star?)

Uh oh, Marc is mad now! I wonder if just maybe that has anything to do with the fact that the TCA press tour was supposed to be going on starting yesterday?
That's aroubd 3 million for OTH i suppose. Probably just under for the first episode and just above for the second. But this thibg is not sure based on overnights
