Is it just me, or is Scrubs doing A LOT better all of a sudden? My guess is because everyone thinks it's ending this season. Along with 30 Rock, they're both doing better. But I don't understand what happened to My Name Is Earl. It used to skew about 10 million a week.

I didn't mean for the comment to sound like I was suggesting that CBS was racist. Many of these cast departures are the choice of the actors involved anyway, not the shows. It just seems like there have been a disproportionate number of African American actors listed as leaving network shows in the last week or so.
It seems both Alexander and Dourdan were actually fired, so it's not their wish. But that doesn't mean CBS is racist

I agree. The entertainment 'news' business and the desire by networks to promote cast changes really diminishes the shock/payoff in the actual storylines for the regular/core viewers. In the same way, if I know I will be seeing a movie in the theater, I avoid watching the commercials/reviews/prmos since i don't want to have anything spoiled.

I think you may be projecting.

Its called a lead in. I expect 30 Rock to pull those sort of numbers in coming weeks if not better. The fact of the matter is its bleeding viewers like crazy and helping the decline for the nearly dead ER. I love how NBC justifies keeping ER when Las Vegas, which did as well on a Friday with less lead in doesn't even deserve a proper finale burial. Ridiculous. Last year Crossing Jordan received similar treatment when NBC left the show in limbo even though it had no chance of returning. Medium fans will probably get the same treatment down the road.

Sweetness. Office up a tick in finals. 5.0 puts it as the #2 broadcast this season behind the 5.1 for the season premiere. Nothing else last night got within a full 1.0 point in the demo. I am impressed. Boy, does NBC need this show.
Too bad they fail to utilize it and produce a solid hit behind it.

I think that title goes to Eli Stone, which has improved immensely during its 13 episode run. I'd also say New Amsterdam, Women's Murder Club, and Boston Legal are in that category too over Canteburry's Law.

I read all of that, and she seems like a complete idiot. How can you make a network to just a certain age group? The CW should be called the FN, The Failure Network.

The show is in limbo if you haven't been following things and ask any fan and they'll tell you how ABC's treatment of the show has jeopardized the show's future.

A bit harsh for a show everyone knows is going to end. Although, you're right. There's a new sitcom next year and it's going to a completely different night.

No. Everyone on this messageboard is a complete idiot. More seriously though, marketing to youth and then letting the network grow as the audience ages IS the smart way to do things. It worked for FOX and it can work for CW. Unfortunately, people will continue to slam CW for years to come, then claim that they were right all along when CW starts 'expanding to a wider audience' as their core viewership ages.

Yes, but Fox was successful with letting itself grow as its audience aged because it had shows that kept their audience coming back. Where is the CW's Simpsons, X-Files, 90210, Melrose and heck, even Married With Children? Sorry, Gossip Girl has yet to have the impact of those two young targeted Fox soaps. Similarly, when FOX did it they were only competing against the "Big Three," with smaller cable penetration and most importantly less choices in entertainment. Finally, FOX had much less of a budgetary worry with MR. Murdock more willing to spend than CBS and Warners appear to be.
