My beef is that by airing anything new on a holiday night is risky. Many people are out celebrating with friends and may not be home to watch their favorite shows. Thus, I feel abc should have held onto its new Greys for the following week so that the 2 parter could air in back-to-back weeks rather then be broken up and piss people off because they missed out on part 1 that was shown on a holiday. I truly believe that holiday evenings tend to skew older. That is why cbs tends to do well over the holidays as opposed to a younger skewing net like abc. If you dont believe me just look at the ratings over the thanksgiving holiday. The day before and the night of, cbs did extremely well with its shows that tend to skew older, while abc, with its shows that skew younger, I feel tanked. I believe the reason to be because that younger skewing aud. is travelling and dont have the time to watch their faves. So in a nutshell, I think abc should just invest in original movies that normally skew older and air them over the holidays and in the month of Dec. I feel they would be much more competitve with cbs. What do think?tanked

I totally agree with you on this one. I think abc did drop the ball. If they were smart they would have aired a movie on thnaksgiving and saved the new Greys for the following week instead of breaking the momentum. I hope that next year abc stockpiles on original movies to air throughout the holidays i.e., Thanksgiving night and Sundays to help keep viewers from abandoning them on that night sans Desperate.
If ABC was so intent on airing a new episode of Greys on Thanksgiving, why couldn't they just have aired the second part of the 2 parter last week and aired a repeat last night?

Or run one repeat in October, then run part one and two this week and last week, thus avoiding part one landing on Thanksgiving.

Is your plan to cancel everything on NBC or are you going to cancel the old shows and keep the fresh younger shows like Bionic Woman, Friday Night Lights, Medium, Journeyman, Life, Singing Bee, and The Apprentice?
Last year, NBC cancelled more shows than it newly developed this year. That mentality can only be repeated so many times before the whole network is down to L&O/DoND/Dateline.
Fox Don’t Forget the Lyrics (R) Viewers: 6.71 million (#3), A18-49: 2.1/ 5 (#4)
How is that in any way "Honorable"? Same goes for 5th grader, those ratings are horrible and CW-worthy. Too often in these forums Fox shows gets off too easily. Fox is a network for a long time now, and getting that kind of numbers is just a complete failure.
(not to mention that 30 rock out-performed both in the demo but is a 'loser')

Airing a rerun in October would not have been a good idea, IMO. October is still early in the season and would definitely stall momentum. The other recommendations given here (airing a holiday moving on Thanksgiving, or airing the 2nd part of the 2-parter last week so they aired consecutively sounds better. I know ABC wanted a new Grey's as a lead-in for the Barbara Walters special, but that's resolved by simply having the special a week earlier...

Have you seen their schedule for next week? Next week, they are the DoND network!

ABC thought that they could convince their viewers to watch TV over the holiday rather than spending time with family. They should have known that they were not CBS. It was a big mistake and it bit them on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

I agree. I hope they don't repeat this mistake in the future. Aside from the impact to Grey's, I think the worst part was premiering October Road on Thanksgiving night, which killed any chance that show had of being successful this season. Hardly anybody watched the premiered, and fewer yet have watched since...

How is that in any way "Honorable"? Same goes for 5th grader, those ratings are horrible and CW-worthy.
CW hasn't had a show with 6.71 million viewers this season. Lyrics did it with a rerun against mostly first run competition on the other nets. FOX's Thursday performance is a big step up from the prior year.

yeah totally, I mean just because a show does better than the show that was on last year doesnt mean its "Honorable", the ratings suks
ok, so it seems nobody here watched greys last night, because if anyone did, they would have realised how AWESOME it was, the best episode of the season, and much better than last years dismal three parter, Greys has been on a roll creatively this season, and last night was just at its peak

But it's still low low ratings. On any other network (except the CW of course) it would rightly have gone to the Loser category; 5th grader at least, since DFtL was a - lowrated, not 'Honorable' - repeat.
There is no reason to judge those low-quality ratings-challenged stupid games by specific standards just because they air on Fox. NBC is criticized a lot, but Fox does worse most of the time and without AI would be in terrible shape.

If anything, More people should be watching TV with more people taking advantage of online shopping.
but since viewership has been down this season, add to that the lower rated holiday period, I mean the highest demo on thursday this week is 7.1 for greys, and the highest viewed show is 18 million for csi, while last year, almost every thursday the highest viewer and demo number were usually both 9 demo and 22 million
