December typically is a down month for viewers - with Holiday stuff going on and all. That's why I wasn't too upset with Weds DSM numbers.

WAT seems to have lost all or most of the boost it got from the CSI crossover.
Barbara Wawa usually does well with her specials. Not to be morbid, but I'm thinking that "the top brass" at ABC are thinking about pulling a "Ted Williams" with Barbara - just incase they need a special years down the road. Hey, it works on "Futurama."
They should have run a Grey's repeat in October, then they could have still run an original on Thanksgiving for sweeps, then run the two-parter the last two Thursdays rather than a repeat last week. Instead they pulled 13 million for part one of a two parter, then ran a repeat, then part two. I just don't get that at all.

You meant BIG SHOTS instead of DIRTY SEXY MONEY right for the 10PM hour? DSM is flopping over on Wed at 10.
Agreed on 30 ROCK...if they renew it again it would be astounding.
Since you're the only fan of that monstrosity known as Big Shots - I'll cut you some slack but your constant disdain for DSM is unimaginable.
If you don't watch it - how dare you talk about it like you know anything.
If you do watch it - you have no time on your hands! Read a book!
I stopped watching it because I know that it is a terrible show.
Look, I know where you're coming from...you don't want to accept that a show you like is flopping but it is. It happenes to everyone. I loved REUNION but its ratings dropped week after week just like DIRTY SEXY MONEY is.
I'm against DSM because ABC is wasting a slot when there might have been better pilots they passed on. Why should DSM be on the air still when a much better show called THE NINE was never allowed to complete its run with similar ratings.
This is a ratings forum and I'm going to express my opinions on DSM as I feel fit and I'll go read a book when I feel like it. Thanks

A regular BW show or even 20/20 would work better than any of the ABC soaps have in that timeslot.

As I said last week, The Office seems to have this halo that affects everything on NBC Thursday. The whole night has completely tanked since that one half hour has been out of originals.
Earl held its own last night. You have to remember that there were a number of 1 hour episodes of The Office to start the season, which is a much better 9:30pm programming than Scrubs. Scrubs and 30 Rock are anchors that simply should not be on the air anymore.
ER, for all Marc's chants of cancellation, outperformed all other NBC shows in viewers and demo (tie with Earl) for the night. It was a horrible episode, though.

If they were smart they would have aired a movie on thnaksgiving and saved the new Greys for the following week instead of breaking the momentum. I hope that next year abc stockpiles on original movies to air throughout the holidays i.e., Thanksgiving night and Sundays to help keep viewers from abandoning them on that night sans Desperate.

I also think that many views think all shows are in repeats right now. Originals have been below average across the board this week (with the exception of the HEAVILY promoted DH tornado ep.) Many viewers hear "strike" and "reruns" and assume the reruns have already begun.
Most people don't follow the industry closely enough to know better.
I agree with both of you -- in fact, I discussed that last week, saying that airing a holiday movie like The Polar Express on low-HUT Thanksgiving Thursday and saving the 2-parter Grey's to be aired consecutively would have been a much wiser decision. Hopefully ABC is paying attention and will do that next year.

I watched Bender's Big Score earlier this week on DVD. The first 10 minutes or so of that show were about FOX network and it was extremely funny. The rest of the episode(s) were pretty bland, but the sendup of FOX television network was pure gold.

Obveeus , what's a "regular BW show"?
I'm guessing a regular weekly Barbara Walters special.

Those 1 hour episodes of The Office were terrible. They should of just ordered more half hour episodes. NBC is really hurting. 30-Rock, Scrubs and few others on NBC would have been cancelled on any other network. In a couple of more years they will be the 5th place network behind Univision.

Yes but outdoing a 3.0 is not like climbing a mountain. NBC needs to move forward and start phasing out the older shows like Scrubs (which is ending), ER, Las Vegas, and Law & Order (althought I believe the latter will last until it becomes the longest running show in TV history).

Scubs and 30 Rock would last at ABC, but only becuase they have no comedies that work.
I used to watch "Futurama" back in the day, but Fox kept moving the show around and couldn't keep up with it. I'll rent "Bender's Big Score" and check it out.

I understand that by having aired an all-new Greys on thanksgiving night it also probably helped abc win the nov. sweeps. My beef is that by airing anything new on a holiday night is risky. Many people are out celebrating with friends and may not be home to watch their favorite shows. Thus, I feel abc should have held onto its new Greys for the following week so that the 2 parter could air in back-to-back weeks rather then be broken up and piss people off because they missed out on part 1 that was shown on a holiday. I truly believe that holiday evenings tend to skew older. That is why cbs tends to do well over the holidays as opposed to a younger skewing net like abc. If you dont believe me just look at the ratings over the thanksgiving holiday. The day before and the night of, cbs did extremely well with its shows that tend to skew older, while abc, with its shows that skew younger, I feel tanked. I believe the reason to be because that younger skewing aud. is travelling and dont have the time to watch their faves. So in a nutshell, I think abc should just invest in original movies that normally skew older and air them over the holidays and in the month of Dec. I feel they would be much more competitve with cbs. What do think?tanked
