Note: Any prior rating results are based on the final nationals. Also, since the level of DVR penetration has increased from 9 percent in early 2006-07 to approximately 20 percent at present, the overall results may be negatively impacted.

-Friday’s Winners: Nothing
-Friday’s Losers (excluding repeats): Men in Trees (ABC), Movies Rock! A Celebration of Music & Film (CBS), The Next Great American Band (Fox)

-Ratings Breakdown: It was a Friday of split leadership, with ABC first in total viewers, and CBS No. 1 among adults 18-49. NBC finished second in both categories, with the CW a comfortable fourth and Fox a weak fifth.
NBC was the most-watched network at 8 p.m., with soon-to-be overused Deal or No Deal at 9.73 million viewers (and a second-place 2.2 rating/8 share among adults 18-49). How did you like that contestant that gambled away $110,000? Jeez! CBS won the hour among adults 18-49 care of repeat holiday specials Frosty the Snowman (Viewers: #2, 8.06 million; A18-49: #1, 2.7/ 9) and Frosty Returns (Viewers: #2, 7.42 million; A18-49: #1t, 2.4/ 8).
Also airing from 8-9 p.m. was ABC’s struggling Men in Trees (Viewers: #3, 5.97 million; A18-49: #4t, 1.3/ 5), which was far from convincing last night, and a repeat of Fox’s relocated Don’t Forget the Lyrics (Viewers: #4, #5, 3.88 million; A18-49: #5, #4t, 1.3/ 5). The CW’s always reliable Friday Night Smackdown! remained just that at 4.58 million viewers (#4) and a 1.5/ 5 among adults 18-49 (#4) from 8-10 p.m.
ABC was the most-watched network at 9 p.m. care of Women’s Murder Club, which tied NBC’s Friday Night Lights for first among adults 18-49. Take a look:
Friday 9 p.m. Women’s Murder Club (ABC) Viewers: 8.58 million (#1), A18-49: 1.8/ 5 (#1t)
Friday Night Lights (NBC) Viewers: 5.44 million (#3), A18-49: 1.8/ 5 (#1t)
Yes, it is sad when the top-rated series in a time period can’t even crack a 2-rating among adults 18-49.
Over at CBS, two-hour special Movies Rock! A Celebration of Music & Film did not rock in the ratings, with just 5.87 million viewers and a 1.8/ 6 among adults 18-49 from 9-11 p.m. And Fox dud The Next Great American Band moved into the Friday 9 p.m. hour with a mere 2.99 million viewers and a 1.2/ 4 among adults 18-49. Comparably, that ranked last in the time period.
Top-rated honors at 10 p.m. (and it was nothing to boast about) fell in ABC’s corner with veteran newsmagazine 20/20 at 7.88 million viewers and a 2.3/ 7 among adults 18-49. Worth noting was growth of 23 percent in the demo for 20/20 out of Women’s Murder Club. NBC’s Las Vegas was second with 6.82 million viewers and a 1.9/ 6 among adults 18-49. Does anyone know, of even care, that Tom Selleck is on Las Vegas this season?
Thanks for not labeling FNL a loser!! This season is so good! I know a 1.8 is not great, but it's tying in it's time period. If the strike really affects pilot season, there's a big chance FNL will see a third season and maybe a better time slot!
CBS' Grammy and movie specials have really struggled the last couple Fridays. They'll be looking forward to getting their regular lineup back next week.
The flipping of Lyrics and American Band gave a boost to Band, but it hurt the Lyrics rerun just as badly, so it was essentially a break-even move relative to last week. I guess you like it when you get more mileage out of originals, but I think they had hoped Lyrics wouldn't take such a big hit at 8.
It is amazing how old the Club and MIT skew. Even moreso than stuff like NCIS.
Nothing surprising on the NBC front. No real boost for Deal despite all the "models in bikinis" promos. I caught the last 15 minutes or so and couldn't believe she kept turning down those deals with only one big value! I think her last offer was actually positive expected value, which the banker rarely offers, but she still wouldn't budge.

I bet if these had been aired on Monday or even a Tuesday, they would have gotten about 50% more viewers.
Over at CBS, two-hour special Movies Rock! A Celebration of Music & Film did not rock in the ratings, with just 5.87 million viewers and a 1.8/ 6 among adults 18-49 from 9-11 p.m.
These specials, although needed, are killing CBS on Fridays.
