I watched Criminal Minds after the Super Bowl last season and hated it. Something was bad wrong with the show. The characters for one thing are just there, there is no development for them at all. It sucked.
exactly, the only reason it is a hit is because it aired after the superbowl, I mean even a show like journeyman would become a big hit if it aired after the superbowl
btw I know that the superbowl will air on fox this year, but the year after that, which network will it air on? and when does abc get it?
Before posting here maybe you should inform you. CM's numbers before the Super Bowl were pretty much like they are now - around 15 million viewers. How can you say it's only a hit beacause it aired after SB, it was a hit long before that. Please inform you next time
That's beyond absurd on TWO counts - (1) going into the SB it was ALREADY a hit that had taken LOST out
I beg to differ. LOST was beating Criminal Minds by more than 2 demo points each week and their total viewers were within 500,000 of each other. While Criminal Minds numbers were impressive, Lost is clearly the winner in the battle.
Well CM was beating Lost by around 1 million viewers when Lost was moved. And trust me if Lost was the winner ABC would've kept it there.

the fact that lost was beating CM in the demo pretty much makes it the winner of the hour, and neither I nor you decided that, but rather the advertisers that pay the bills to keep these shows running
WOW, I totally forgot how HIGH those totals were. I must have been thinking of the last contract fees.
I guess that's why ESPN gets about $3.00 per subscriber from the cable sat. companies. With about 90-100 million subscribers, ESPN is raking in around $270-$300 million per month from the viewers, plus advertising.

Per season, ESPN is paying the NFL 1.1 billion dollars.

I myself is in the 20's and many of my friends also watch CM. So i really don't know what you are trying to say by that statement
yes, but you and your friends are not in the majority, most people in their 20s watch something other that CM, which is proved by the fact PP always wins in the 18-34 demo
Its pathetic how people always find ways to spin things negatively. Come on, when ALL the shows drop, it means that there is a reason for it. Thanksgiving is the reason folks. Also, remember that ALL of three of ABC's shows have been given a full season order. With their ratings, nobody was expecting a second season.
Plus, didn't PD win it's timeslot DESPITE the severe drop?
So how do you explain the drops at the half hours on both PD and DSM. These shows are just plain awful and people are finally starting to tune out. ABC will soon be regretting the full season orders for both of these shows.
CBS didn't miss a beat. Their numbers were great. NBC's was pretty good too by putting DOND on. That's what hurt ABC not the holiday. These shows have been doing better because of weak NBC line up
the shows are aweful? or is it just you that doesnt like them, both shows didnt lose a lot, its not like either of them lost a million or so, they had small drops, and it was probably because of the holidays the fact that both shows are critcally acclaimed, launched on a night made up from all new shows, and usually have the #1 or #2 best ratings of the hour, shows that they are doing pretty well

exactly, everyone seems to be cheering abc about their scheduling decisions this year, but the one time the ratings for abc are bad, and there is a clear good explanation for it, everyone jumps ship, I mean its clear that abc did badly because its young viewers were out
and PD did win its timeslot, no matter how anyone spins it

Not all the shows dropped. Criminal Minds may end up having a season high in viewers (15.82million FN) and CSI:NY will end at abouve 14 million for the first time all season. Turkey Day eve had no effect on them what so ever. Even the 7.2 million Kid Nation will get is not far off its average for the season.

that is because the viewers of those shows are a bit older than the shows that dropped, and that has been posted a dozen times already, so you either havent read any other posts stating this, or you are ignoring them so the shows you like somehow seem more impressive
Procedurals are usually affected if there is a huge game or such, while non procedurals are affected by holidays

I personally find it pathetic how people try to make these terrible numbers look good. You can't blame Thanksgiving. The fact is PD and DSM lost 500,000 and 700,000 in the half hour. How do you blame that on Thanksgiving? People tuned out which means they didn't like what they were seeing. PP increased at the half hour.
Both shows have been losing steam. ABC gave a full season order to DSM for one reason. They think Berlanti is the next Abrams. The fact that they gave it a full season means nothing. Don't forget they gave What About Brian a second season, is anyone going to say that was a good idea?
Look at the 10:00 hour for last night. CSI NY was up, NBC's airing of DOND was up a lot from Life. The only show down was DSM. Total viewers at 10:00 were up. DSM hasn't been making 3's in the demo for a few weeks now.
