really? I watched the episode and I really liked it, it wasnt my favourite episode, but it was definitely good, KC and CMB were awesome as usual, plus I am getting used to Jim Dale's voice, and wierdly find it soothing
I thought last night's PD episode was one of the better episodes. Next week's episode airs at 9pm pre-empting Private Practice.
THANKS for posting ratings on Turkey Day! I guess Nielsen doesn't this day off, huh? I mean, somebody must be working over at Nielsen in order to process all this data.
Compared against last week's final ratings (as posted by Travis), here are the declines in the all-important adults 18-49 demo:
8 p.m.: Pushing Daisies: -27% Kid Nation: -19% Phenomenon: -7.5% ANTM: -38% (Fox sitcoms excluded because Fox was smart enough to air reruns)
9 p.m.: Criminal Minds: -12% Kitchen Nightmares: -31% Private Practice: -38% Deal or No Deal vs. last week's Bionic Woman: +11% (Gossip Girl was a rerun)
10 p.m.: CSI: NY: -4% Dirty Sexy Money: -27% Deal vs. last week's Life: +36%
These calculations were done a bit quickly so there could be some minor errors. I have to rush off and go fight with an old bread machine.
My comments: NBC: Smart, for once. Fox: Smart. ABC: Dumb. I know they don't want to pre-empt new shows this soon after premiering them, as they're trying to build and maintain an audience, esp. when they also pre-empted them two weeks ago for a music awards program, but with the writer's strike, they could've conserved eps. by running a movie instead.
Note: I didn't calculate losses among total viewers because demos are much more important. I don't subscribe to the belief sometimes found here that total viewer numbers or household numbers still matter. Advertisers are ageist.
ok so it seems that only the shows that heavily skew younger are the only ones down, PD, PP, DSM, kitchen nightmares and ANTM are the ones that are down, and those shows usually skew young, I guess its because younger viewers were probably out, while CM, DOND, CSI:NY which usually skews really old did very well, also KN did not decrease dramatically as it was a kids show, and the parents of those kids probably stayed to watch too
Well some things are right, but let's not forget CM has beaten PP in demos last week so it skews older but not really really old as you say, and still managed to remain close to last week's levels. I was the first saying the younger skewing shows are more affected by the holiday but yoy cannot balme the poor numbers only on that.

I actually find it to be really dull, I tried watcing two episodes to see if its any good, but I found it to be really dull, it seemed like any other procedural, and it didnt do anything to stand out, it had bad acting, bad writing, and boring storylines, maybe I should give it another chance

Agreed.
Next week looks AMAZING. I hope it can get a boost from actually having a lead-in for a change.

If shrek does really well, I think we will see a huge boost for PD, I mean both shrek and PD have fantasy elements and both are shown as a fairytale, as I said, I cant wait for next week

when you saw those 2 episodes?
one of the episodes, there was a murderer who kidnapped women and left a mask behind, the other episode was last week's when that blond computer chick got asked on a date
I am depressed but I suppose if the lead in lost 38% losing 27% shows we do have a good core, for DSM. I am concerned for the first time and I hope we get mid 8m and 3 or better next week...
Man CBS kicked butt.. Criminal Minds is simply destroying the other shows.
Happy TG to all,
and thanks for posting the numbers and taking time to discuss on a HOLIDAY

I may be on a limb here but I think most of CM's viewers are older than say PP's, even the people in CM's 18-49 demo number, they are older, meaning they are probably 35+, I mean I am in my 20s, and I dont know anybody my age who watches CM, but I know alot of people my age who watch PP, PD...etc

I watched a few procedurals this year, just to see what the fuss was all about, and the only one I really liked was NCIS, it is a quirky show and it has some good acting, and it doesnt take itself too seriously, and that makes NCIS the exact opposite of CM

Skews "really" old what do you mean by that 60-80 years or something. Beecause that is wrong it also attracts alot of people in there 20's and 30. those shows wins in that demo everytime. So that "really old" comment is really a stretch

CM is supposed to be gritty and serious. They chase serial killers and other very bad criminals for christ sake. Gezz what do you expect
I wonder if Dirty Sexy Money won its timeslot among adults 18-34 as usual. After all, that's why it was given a full season -- that's a very lucrative demo.
I tried to stay up and watch it, but having gotten up at 3 a.m. that morning to beat the traffic on a long drive, I passed out. My TiVo got it but I can't watch until next week.
And I didn't think last night's PD was as witty as usual. Still, from a creative standpoint, it certainly hasn't run out of gas as I thought it might.

I believe CM, CSI:NY, etc. skew very heavily towards the "49" part of the 18-49 demo. DSM consistently beating CSI: NY in the 18-34 demo implies that.
Yep, Thanksgiving Eve hurt younger-skewing shows more, because we 18-34s were busy traveling to our parents' and older relatives' houses for Turkey Day.

Agreed! IMO, CM is an embarrassment, quality-wise. I saw episodes that were dopey and cliche-ridden. I wonder if half the audience watches to snark on it, or if there really are THAT many viewers accepting of dim-bulb programming.
