ABC Holds Lead Over CBS in A18-49 After Three Weeks of the 2007 November Sweep
With only one week remaining in the November Sweep, ABC continues to lead over CBS in the young adult demo with a first place 3.6 A18-49 average. CBS is second with an average 3.4 in A18-49, while NBC regained third place with 3.2 in A18-49 and FOX is close behind in fourth place with a 3.1 average in A18-49. The CW is in fifth with a 1.1 in A18-49 with MyNetworkTV bringing up the rear with its 0.4 in A18-49.
Only 0.5 separates first from fourth place in A18-49, and in the last ten years, the top four networks have never been as tightly bunched together as this season. Much of the crdit has to go to a resurgent FOX, but also that there is no dominant network this year and for the first time ever, no network is averaging greater than 4.0 in A18-49.
In households and viewership, CBS has a comfortable lead over ABC with NBC in third, FOX fourth, The CW trailing in fifth and MyNetworkTV bringing up the rear in sixth.
On a year-over-year basis, FOX and MyNetworkTV are the only networks consistently showing year-over-year improvement from the first day of the Sweep. The other four networks are mostly down in that 15% territory which is being widely blamed on time-shifted viewing. The most concerning year-over-year declines are being experienced by NBC and The CW, which are both losing about a fifth to a quarter of their demo, households and viewers from last November.

Data for first 20 nights are final Nielsen Media numbers as provided by TravisYanan and pavanbadal. Data for last night is FAST national numbers provided by Marc Berman.
It's interesting to note that during the second half-hour, KN improves by almost a million and almost tied ABC in the demo. On the other hand, PD lost half a million viewers and some demo numbers. Considering that PD costs way more than producing KN, CBS must be very happy by the results.
CM last night was one of those episodes that keep you glued on TV. Good job CM! PP on the other hand is spiraling down fast. Something needs to be done to stop the downfall!

I dont see PP spiraling down fast.. it's been doing a nice job, keeping 11 million viewers every week... only this week they lost a lots of viewers.. but it wasnt only PP.. it was ABC.. unfortunetly
(sorry if i'm writing anything wrong... my english isn't the greatest thing of the world )

You're very optimistic about PP. The fact that it's a GA spinoff helped the show for some weeks, that's why it still got decent numbers (i don't think 11 million is all that great really). But if the quality of the show does not improve this show will go downhill really quickly.
Wow, amazing to see how low HUTs are on Thanksgiving Day Eve (but not surprising). What is it about CBS that it's completely steady despite the decreased overall viewership? And why are the other networks wasting originals (especially ABC, with its all-scripted line-up)?

They will regret it again tonight. Grey's will be in the 9's with Betty and OR in the 5's if they are lucky.
Screw sweeps.
GA won't do taht badly. I still think it will get around 16 million. But that's not good news for October Road. I think it was a bad idea to air the premiere on Thanksgiving

Besides skewing older i think CBS has another advantage. Their audiences are the most loyal. And you can see that in the very consistent numbers they're getting during the year. Last spring when the other networks were bleeding CBS remained at very stable levels.
Is October Road airing the season premiere tonight and on Monday? The use of "special preview" on Thursday night and "season premiere" on Monday night in their promos confuses me (unlike last week's very clear "Women's Murder Club is all new on Thursday after Grey's and on Friday in its regular timeslot).
Grey's will be lucky to hit 16 million. It's advertising itself as the start of an event episode, but last season was the culmination of the Burke/tremor arc and it barely hit 18 million (when non-holiday originals were all between 22-25 million). At least nothing that airs tonight is counted in season averages since it's all designated as "special airing"...
