Note: Any prior rating results are based on the final nationals. Also, since the level of DVR penetration has increased from 9 percent in early 2006-07 to approximately 20 percent at present, the overall results may be negatively impacted.
----------
-Friday’s Winners: (Keep in mind that the expectations are lower on this HUT challenged evening) Ghost Whisperer (CBS), Friday Night Smackdown! (CW), Numb3rs (CBS)
-Friday’s Losers (excluding repeats): Men in Trees (ABC), The Next Great American Band (Fox), 20/20 (ABC)
----------
-Ratings Breakdown: CBS won this final Friday of the Nov. 2007 sweeps, with a first-place finish in total viewers and adults 18-49. Last, and very least, was struggling Fox.
The Eye net’s Ghost Whisperer scored an easy, albeit non-spectacular 8-9 p.m. victory, with 9.98 million viewers and a 2.7 rating/8 share among adults 18-49. Second was the first half of repeat theatrical Family Man on NBC (Viewers: 6.42 million; A18-49: 1.8/ 5), followed by ABC’s disappointing Men in Trees (Viewers: 5.57 million; A18-49: 1.5/ 5), the first-half of the CW’s above average Friday Night Smackdown! (Viewers: 4.96 million; A18-49: 1.6/ 5), and Fox’s waiting-to-be axed The Next Great American Band, which was far from great at just 2.61 million viewers and a 1.1/ 3 in the demo. As much as I like Men in Trees, the storyline with Patrick having amnesia is just plain dumb.
Leadership from 9-10 p.m. was mixed between older skewing Women’s Murder Club on ABC (Viewers: #1, 7.76 million; A18-49: #4, 1.6/ 5), which deserves positive mention for building by over two million viewers out of Men in Trees, and the second half of theatrical encore Family Man on NBC (Viewers: #3, 7.21 million; A18-49: #1, 2.4/ 7).
Also in the 9 p.m. hour was CBS drama Moonlight (Viewers: #2, 7.33 million; A18-49: #2, 2.2/ 6), which dipped by 2.65 million viewers and 19 percent among adults 18-49 out of Ghost Whisperer, the second-half the CW’s still potent Friday Night Smackdown! (Viewers: #4, 5.20 million; A18-49: #3, 1.7/ 5), and Don’t Forget the Lyrics on Fox (Viewers: #5, 4.27 million; A18-49: #5, 1.5/ 4). Although Don’t Forget the Lyrics finished last in the time period, it did manage to build by 1.66 million viewers and 36 percent among adults 18-49 out of lead-in The Next Great American Band. Overall, Friday Night Smackdown! averaged a very respectable 5.08 million viewers (#4) and a 1.6/ 5 among adults 18-49 (#3t) from 8-10 p.m. Too bad the CW’s schedule is not as solid on the rest of the week.
CBS moved into the 10 p.m. winners circle care of Numb3rs, which rose to 10.07 million viewers and a 2.6/ 8 among adults 18-49 (tied with the last hour of Family Man on NBC in the demo). Second in total viewers was the Family Man encore, with 7.56 million. Overall, the Family Man repeat averaged 7.06 million viewers and a 2.2/ 7 in the demo from 8-11 p.m. Last in the hour was ABC’s veteran 20/20, with 6.43 million viewers and a 1.8/ 5 among adults 18-49. Comparably, that dropped from lead-in Women’s Murder Club by 1.33 million viewers.
I have been lurking on pifeedback for awhile now so I decided it was time I registered and tell you Marc how much I appreciate what you do. I think a forum like this is great and I find myself laughing and admiring a lot of the posters. Thanks again.
Women's Murder Club is quickly fading... I don't think those Thursday runs are doing it any good. Also, poor Men in Trees. It's a fantastic show, but these ratings are incredibly terrible.
I wouldn't bash Moonlight too much: sure, it looses a good chunk of its lead-in, but comparing it to CBS's other new shows like Cane, it's doing pretty fine! Especially as it's on Fridays and Cane is on Tuesdays. Moonlight still does better in the ratings.
And those who continue to criticize the CW for keeping Friday Night Smackdown are once again proven wrong. America likes watching garbage, deal with it.

I can say that I don't remember hearing anybody complain about SmackDown here. However, it is a very good show for Fridays. It is consistent through summer and holiday weekends
As for MIT I am hopeful that the ratings will start to go up. A lot of us, myself included, thought the show was over last year when it disappeared off the map, and as the entire seaon aired in a lot of other countries, just not here, I am sure a number of the fans got copies of what they thought were going to be the final episodes of the show. I know I watched them with an out of country friend. And last night (being the night after a holiday challenged anyway) was the first episode that WASN'T supposed to be part of last season. I am anxious to see if it gets any fans back next week. Iknow last night was the first one I watched...but only parts of it as I was doing other things.
As for Moonlight...i think it is still holding it's own...and that's good!
The good news for ML is that, while it continues to dominate WMC in demo's, it is also closing the gap in among viewers. The bad news is that it continiues to be the weak link in the line-up Friday's for CBS.
Hey, skiman...welcome aboard. And thank you for the comments.

If a network already in the dirt is finding itself with a hit in Wrestling really says nothing about their network as a whole.
Congrats to GW, maynot have had Deal or No Deal to compete with but still.
I doubt ABC is too pleased with Women's Murder Club. A 1.6 rating in the demo when you have 7.76 million viewers overall means it's skewing VERY old... heck it skewed older than 20/20! When you skew older than 20/20, which undoubtedly costs FAR less to produce, you're probably in tons of trouble. WMC only built by 0.1 points out of Men in Trees in the demo, too.
In the demo, Moonlight is down 19% from last week when it got a 2.7 and held all of its demo lead-in from Ghost Whisperer. Did the holiday weekend affect it somehow? If so, why didn't it also affect GW? Maybe NBC's Family Man hurt it?
It probably didn't help to air a "mythology"-type episode that continued the story arc from two weeks ago, either. People are traveling and visiting family members, who may not watch the same shows. If you DON'T manage to wrest away the remote from your family members, and you also don't have a DVR back at home, then you've missed something crucial. And if you DO manage to grab the remote control, then you have to explain the continuing storyline to your confused family members. If a net must air a new episode of anything during a holiday weekend, it should air a stand-alone episode.
Really, Moonlight's survival depends on just how young it skews. If it significantly helps to bring down the average age of the CBS audience overall, then they'll keep it. They hate being seen as the old fogey net. If it does well in adults 18-34, then they'll keep it -- they can charge advertisers a big premium for that audience. However I suspect that a lot of the audience is women 35-49 who are tuning in to drool over Alex O'Loughlin....

Men in Trees is an excellent show. I hated it when it first came out last year and then I listened to Marc, he was right about Brothers & Sisters and I just thought Men in Trees got better and better as the season went on. Give it a break. I am sure it will be doing a little bit better with GW going into repeats and October Road on Monday Nights. I think MIT should be paired with October Road. I happen to like that show too.

Ghost Whisperer aired an Mythology episode continued from 2 eps ago to so I doubt that is the reason for ML's drop. Family Man also aired during GW so also not the case.
