How is it that such a low rated show like Friday night lights can still be on the air when shows like Reaper and chuck have to fight for their lives?

Leno can certainly beat FNL in the ratings -- I wonder if boston knows this.

i know this is great news if you are a fan of FNL but with these kinds of ratings why would nbc even want to program it on their network at all?

Seriously why is no one's head at NBC's programming dept anywhere near the ax?

NBC keeps it on the air by partnering with DirecTV. That defrays some of the costs and it helps keep a quality show on the air. Not a bad idea.

If they give it back to the affiliates, they might as well considered themselves dead, they will never get that time back. I think a supernatural/reaper combo on Fridays.

Did everyone year that supernatural creator and the actors don't want to come back after next season --for valid reasons -- check out the EW article with harry potter on the cover. Anyways, with smallville probably not going past next year as well (just a guess) -- why don't they develop reaper and keep it on the air???? Ugh, I just want to knock some sense into the CW. If they lose both smallville and supernatural next year, what will they have -- reaper is doing reasonably well with no lead in opposite american idol. It should be renewed.

What I mean is Sunday nights go with 90210 or One Tree Hill (which fans have always followed over the last 6 years). Reaper has also proven that fans will watch and may make a great addition to Friday night if accompanied by Vampire Diaries.

No more encores! Nobody wants to watch that crap!

With so many other problems, don't count out Reaper...yet.

Fast and furious makes 30 million on Friday alone on its way to probably 65-70 million for the biggest opening in April ever and the third biggest for universal ever. Great opening scene and fun overall.

has to explain some of terminator and dollhouse ratings.

I would say a fairly certain no on the extra viewers returning. I think it will start out with pretty decent retention of the 5+mm, at least 80% or so, and given the consistency of the fall ratings even at these low levels, it's more likely than not that group will see the thing through even if it is lousy.

I agree - I think Prison Break should be able to see a stable 5 million once it comes back on Fridays. Since it is the final episodes, I'd think the viewers who stuck around this season will stick around to the end.

Marc, I truly hope you have an inside source because I really think with the last minute renewal and the fact that they put it up against idol -- is just proof to me that they just don't care about this show and this is their best show on the network. It is the epitome of quality tv.

I think Wed. at 8 is a very likely option for Law and Order, leading into SVU. Southland can't possibly pair with SVU. Both are definitely 9pm shows.

I know its just a scheduling change since they need shows to fill in, but is NBC testing the waters for next season? (Law and Order at 8pm and Law and Order: SVU at 9pm)

There is just too much Law & Order on NBC, which is one of the reasons why the network has collapsed.

Nobody expected that.

NBC was third overall in total viewers and fourth among adults 18-49 with its uneventful line-up of two episodes of Howie Do It (Viewers: #3, avg. 3.56 million; A18-49: #4, avg. 1.1/ 4), just renewed Friday Night Lights (Viewers: #4, 3.61 million; A18-49: #4, 1.2/ 4) and Dateline (Viewers: #3, 4.89 million; A18-49: #3, 1.4/ 5).

NBC has viewers willing to watch shows, but the shows they produce are terrible! How is it that they can be number one in Morning News Show (Today Show), number one in Nightly Newscast (Brian Williams), number one on Sundays "talk" show (Meet the Press), and number one in Late Night (Tonight Show), yet be in fourth place in primetime? Obviously viewers just hate their primetime shows! Come on NBC!

I agree about L&O - 3 hours of it in one night is too much. But, I think the main reason NBC collapsed is Zucker.

Meanwhile, Bones will also be airing on a special night of Monday, 4/20 in edition to its special Wednesday airing and regular Thursday airing the week before:

That's a whole lot of Bones on FOX!

That's exactly what I would do also. If they don't want to give the night away, then continue with the movies. CW has struggled on Sundays and I think anything they place there is doomed for low ratings. With Fridays, the CW audience is used to programming there and CW could excel with a niche audience night like a sci fi night with Vampire Diaries and Reaper.

I think if FOX markets the last episodes angle, PB will do decently on Fridays. I could see somewhere in the 5 to 6 million range, which is better than T:SCC in that timeslot.

However, I don't think that audience will carry over into Dollhouse. The viewers that are interested in Dollhouse have more than likely already checked it out and the fact that Dollhouse's ratings are decreasing almost weekly means there is a disconnect somewhere.

Both shows have to be hugely expensive, SCC more than Dollhouse. With less than 4 million viewers, there's no way both shows will be back next season.

I wonder how Prison Break will do - will the 5 million viewers it had return, will some extra viewers also return for the final episodes, or will people just not care anymore?
