ES was not renwed and WMC canceled beacause of the ratings only, there must have been other reason. ABC knows WMC would've been a better rated show next season than ES when it made the decision
If you're saying WMC's numbers are better than Eli Stone's, you're wrong. In the demo, where it matters most, Stone was the clear winner. In total viewers, which don't really matter as much (they're just there for bragging right), WMC has about a 1 to 1.5 million viewer advantage with a Dancing lead in. I expect ES to pull around 8 million next fall and near a 3 demo, which would be at least a modest success.
this debate is funny considering BL after Dancing gets 10 million, a 2.6 or higher in the demo and adds over a million on dvr. sort of glad BL is out of the way of WAT and LAO next season. I still don't get the need to announce it's the last year. I think it really might do well on Mon. Eli is gonna have a hard time with switching places with a popular show, following a reality show (which is not easy no matter how popular), and now adding WAT as competition.

But this had NOTHING to do with scheduling? ES had a much stronger demo lead-in, on a much stronger demo night, and when you factor that in, and look at the dropoffs, it's anything but a winner.

It looks like whatever hit CW last week on Monday hit CW this week on Tuesday. I'm guessing that some markets were interrupted for sports.
It's being preempted next week in Chicago for baseball.

Not in the demo. WMC will be lucky to have a 2.0 once the finals get here and the Dancing extra few minutes get factored out of the 9pm half hour. Besides Eli Stone's finale was behind a Lost repeat and it grew out of its lead in. Demo-wise, ABC made the right move.
Eli Stone also grew at the half-hour for it's finale while WMC lost viewers and demo.

I couldn't care less about WMC. But it's going to be so much fun watching ES fans try to explain away its ratings next fall. It's been given a great lead-in, and the competition is hardly a huge demo magnet. So it's going to be expected to perform--and when it doesn't, ABC will bring in the midseason replacement, and it will be time for Eli to DIE.

I can't believe Casey gets booted for that, but they had no problem with her staging a confrontation the previous week that resulted in two deaths, when they should've arrested the lawyer immediately. Un-frakkin'-believable.

That's what I'm thinking, I think Eli is kind of being thrown to the wolves rather than ABC killing a new show there.

Here are the estimated voting results from last night's American Idol ( Source): Producers picked "Longer" and "Hit Me Up" for Mr. Archuleta and Miss Mercado, respectively, while Mr. Cook gets the memorable "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" - think there might be a conspiracy here to ensure the Idol title to David Cook?

ES 8 million and 3 in demos? WOW you're way to optmistic. After a couple of new episodes (the return mat stir up some interest) this show will dip below 6 million and 2 in demos

I don't. If anything, Dancing will hold up ES and DSM lasted all last fall. I don't see why it wouldn't again.
ES and DSM never stopped falling in the ratings. The trend will continue next season.
Well in Reality, Eli Stone was not falling each week. It was staying in the same range. Thas why it was picked up. But yes, Dirty, Sexy, Money was falling every week.

But look at the lead in for these shows! WMC had a lead in of 17.7 million viewers and 4.3 in 18-49, WMC ended about 8 million and 2.1 for the hour. Back on 4/17 out of a lost repeat ES grew by almost two million viewers and .5 in 18-49. Wait til next year if ES can't pull over ten with DWTS lead then the show will be done before mid season. I love this show and hopes the viewers will watch next season. Guessing its going to be the number 3 show behind WAT and L&O:SVU! just have to wait and see!

Personally, I think ES has a shot here. Both WAT and SVU are aging and losing viewers. ES was a character that kind of grew on me at the end of the season. I find his character likable, unlike the other 2 shows. If he retains a certain quirkiness and compassion, it will work. Depends on the storylines, I guess.

Interesting that the SVU repeat shot up from 1.4 to 1.9 this week. I wonder if the print listings still showed SNL in that slot last week.
I imagine that was a big part of the reason this week's original went up a couple ticks from last week, probably moreso than a "finale bump" for the departures of two less than important characters.

If you look below, it fell every week, on Thursdays, except the final to airings. Its small bump at the end is directly attributed from airing after Desperate Housewives. Eli Stone 2007-08 Weekly Ratings Track
