ES was not renwed and WMC canceled beacause of the ratings only, there must have been other reason. ABC knows WMC would've been a better rated show next season than ES when it made the decision
If you're saying WMC's numbers are better than Eli Stone's, you're wrong. In the demo, where it matters most, Stone was the clear winner. In total viewers, which don't really matter as much (they're just there for bragging right), WMC has about a 1 to 1.5 million viewer advantage with a Dancing lead in. I expect ES to pull around 8 million next fall and near a 3 demo, which would be at least a modest success.

Yeah, I agree there's more to this cancellation than ratings and ABC haven't given any explanation for the cancellation like they have for "Men In Trees" and "October Road", I would like Steve to explain why!

Yes. CW did try to dump the stations that regularly showed local fare rather than the scheduled lineup, but the problem still persists. Such is the fortune of those networks near the bottom of the food chain.
The main problem is that local sports probably do better in those markets than CW programming so its better for them to go after Cubs or White Sox or Twins or Yankees games.

Men in Trees and October Road both failed to hit 6 million viewers and a 2 demo on average. That's the reason they're gone. Both were given ample opportunities and while I agree MIT's time slots were an issue, it faced virtually nothing for most of the year and still faltered. Not a good thing.

Last night's episode furthered the mystery behind Sam's contract, but it was not the season finale. Last night also featured an 'escaped moncter from hell' that was a near replica of Charlie Sheen's 2&1/2Men character. It was another very funny episode and it is a shame more people are not catching this fine show. Meanwhile, next week is the season finale and people can even catch this most recent episode as it will re-air at 8pm directly before the 9pm finale.

I expect Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money to tank and be replaced by November sweeps.

Good scheduling by Cdub for once. Reaper is a good repeater and should do as well as B&tG has been doing if not better at 8pm next week into the finale. Hopefully it gets some promotion from the CW this week. And here's to them reairing the whole season this summer. BTW, what is the CW doing on Tuesdays at 8? Wouldn't back to back Chris into Reaper be a neat summer Tuesday option? Tuesdays Tools could be the theme. Farmer and other summer filler could fill Wednesdays and on Sundays, movies into double eps of the Game.

Yeah I know that, but even though those two cancellations were more than just Steve has still explained that in a few press reports I've read but he has not mentioned WMC at all in any of the press releases I've read so far, that's what I find strange!

Solid finale for SVU. I was sorry to see Diane Neal go. The numbers, however, not all that solid.

I don't. If anything, Dancing will hold up ES and DSM lasted all last fall. I don't see why it wouldn't again. In my opinion, the ratings falling had as much to do with Chimp scheduling than anything. On Halloween Night. On Thanksgiving Eve. Prempted the next week followed by a new lead in the next week then it was back to normal the next. It was ridiculous.

Why not bring in an establish show while your sorry network tries to develop something worth watching??
Which would be, what, 7 million and 1.7? Eh, they could live with that.

ES and DSM never stopped falling in the ratings. The trend will continue next season.

How about because ABC will have plenty of new shows to replace it with next time? Same for ES. They survived because options were limited. That was a onetime deal. quote: In my opinion, the ratings falling had as much to do with Chimp scheduling than anything.
The same people who did the scheduling last time are doing the scheduling this time, and they also scheduled the shows that did well in the ratings. Can't low ratings EVER be due to people not liking the shows? Only when you don't like them too, I guess.
