FOX Builds Up An Insurmountable A18-49 Lead, While CBS Still Clings to Double Crown of Most Households & Viewers After 20 Days of 2008 May Sweep
After 20 days of the 2008 May Sweep, FOX has built up an insurmountable 0.46 A18-49 demo lead over second place ABC, with CBS in third and NBC trailing badly in fourth with a 1.91 average. The CW’s 1.02 is in fifth, and is about double MyNetworkTV’s 0.46 average in sixth. The biggest difference to last years sweep is that Monday nights have changed over from being an ABC night to FOX dominance with the move of House to Mondays at 9 pm.
Meanwhile, CBS continues to be the most popular network in households and viewership with ABC in second, FOX following in third and NBC lagging far behind in fourth. The CW is fifth in both measures, at levels that are roughly double that of MNT.
In year-over-year comparisons, the six network total is down year-over-year in A18-49 demo, HUT and viewership: the six nets are down 14% in A18-49, down 10% in households and down 9% in viewership. The worst performer networks year-over-year are NBC and The CW. NBC is down 22% in A18-49, down 18% in households and down 16% in viewership, while over at The CW they are down 19% in A18-49, down 18% in households and down 19% in viewers. The best performer on a year-over-year measure is MyNetworkTV: up 33% in A18-49, up 29% in households and up 37% in viewers. Whereas a year ago, MNT was trending at about one-third of CW levels, this May it is trending in the one-half range.

This years and last years numbers are based upon final Nielsen numbers except for last night which is based on preliminary national ratings.
AI is still down. Does anyone else think that that was the worst final 3 performances ever, since season 1 at least. Producers picked a horrible song for Syesha. It looks like David vs David in the finals. I wonder if that's what the producers were hoping for anyways...anyone stay conspiracy???
It seems that CBS likes to drop shows that pull in 10mil+ viewers like Close To Home last year and Shark this year. If I was NBC, I would be snagging those shows up. Their performance has been getting worse since Friends departed. Why not bring in an establish show while your sorry network tries to develop something worth watching??
Hrm, from the numbers for WMC it looks like ABC picked with wrong horse with Eli Stone. The season-finale of Eli Stone had 6.13 million viewers and a 2.0/ 6 among adults 18-49. And it looks like WMC is a bit better.

I didn't watch it live but from I saw later it was indeed completely boring. As for Syesha, the only producer conspiracy I can think of is that they carried her that far. Who the hell has been voting for that girl, hasn't she been in the bottom3 pretty much every week since the start?
Reaper didn't do well, let's hope it gets back up a bit for the finale.

AI is up some from last week. I pray it is David A. that goes. But most of the performances were uninspiring, I agree. I was surprised by SVU season finale numbers. Didn't particularly like how the 2 characters exited, it was somewhat OOC, but I liked how they tied them together at the end. It will be interesting to see how Warrick leaves on Thursday's CSI since he is also accused of killing someone.

Not in the demo. WMC will be lucky to have a 2.0 once the finals get here and the Dancing extra few minutes get factored out of the 9pm half hour. Besides Eli Stone's finale was behind a Lost repeat and it grew out of its lead in. Demo-wise, ABC made the right move.

WMC would be the better pickup if the open timeslot was Friday, but apparently that isn't where ABC felt they needed a program.
Side note: those timeslot runovers really show some viewer leaks for WMC and HK. Both shows will look much worse in finals.
Side note2: this looks like it will be the 7th day in a row that I didn't get a single show corrct in the sweeps game. A few of you could really help me out towards victory if you took a day or two off.

I thought last night was the season finale for Reaper? If not, than it will be interesting to see the ratings it will pull next week.

ES was not renwed and WMC canceled beacause of the ratings only, there must have been other reason. ABC knows WMC would've been a better rated show next season than ES when it made the decision

Yes. CW did try to dump the stations that regularly showed local fare rather than the scheduled lineup, but the problem still persists. Such is the fortune of those networks near the bottom of the food chain.
