The Office is not a smash hit. It only looks like a smash hit when compared with the other NBC comedy offerings these days. Most of the growth for The Office can be attributed to Steve Carrell's movie career, not the actual quality of the TV show. NBC has fallen on very hard times.
The Office is a demo hit--a cult hit, if you will. Doing amazingly well in the most competitive timeslot in primetime.
But who knows what the rest of the season will be like--or if there'll even BE a rest of the season.
All I can say is that it's the only network show that makes me laugh.
It's the only network show I'm going to miss seeing during the strike, really.
Smash hit? Maybe not--but then again, by NBC's current standards, smash hit may be underselling it.
I agree with what you're saying about The Office. Unfortunately I missed the first 10 minutes yesterday though. Strange moment between Jim and Michael at the end of the show. I hope they're not foreshadowing a general progression of Jim becomming more and more like Michael.
Oh, believe me, I been called worse. I was just saying that it was irrelevant to my comments. Look to what I'm saying, not to who I am.
And in case you hadn't noticed, what I was really saying was that you were way overreacting to what I said--regardless of your motives. And you're STILL doing that.
It's called discussion, dear. You are way too quick to label it "overreacting." It's a forum for goodness sake.

Can't say I thought much of last night's Office ep. Show's still recovering from Whedonitis, I guess.
Are there going to be any more first-run Offices until after the strike is resolved?
I watched a bit of Ugly Betty, and it's doing better than it deserves to. They are not developing the characters at all. I'm all for primetime cartoons, but not live action ones so much. UB always had an element of cariciature to it, but that's pretty much all that's left now. I don't give a damn about any of these people. Should have been a limited-run series, but network doesn't do those--on purpose, anyway.
You're funny as usual. CSI has beaten GA last night clearly
In your eyes, but not advertisers! Add in DVR totals here in a few weeks and Greys will probably be neck and neck with CSI.

I don't think it will have much of an effect. WAT is a fifth year show, and has been behind CSI for four of those years. Most people watching CSI have already sampled WAT and don't watch it. They just watched because it was tied into CSI last night.
I agree, I've never seen WAT and I only watched it because of the CSI crossover. I thought the WAT hour was not as good as the CSI hour.

I don't get it either. That's better retention than Rules of Engagement has.
... and about 4 million less viewers.
Hey, that's vlis style spinning! Both are about in the same boat. I'd love to see what Rules would do on NBC. I'm guessing not too hot. Probably worse than 30 Rock.
NBC loses out again. Scrubs can't end fast enough and 30 Rock, critically acclaimed or not, really should be pulled. My Name is Earl can stay for now and The Office is really the only comedy that is keeping them afloat during the night.

That they wouldn't be too bad if they could act? That Bela would be ok, if she wasn't such a cliche? That Ruby might be ok, but the actress is horrid?
Wow Herm, I take it you do not like them that much. I like Ruby more than I like Bela. I think the problem I have with Bela is that she is not as strong of a character as Ruby is. By no means is Bela a bad character, but she is just not written as strong as I had hoped.

Peace!!
LOL, actually I've gotten where I can at least take Ruby. The actress needs some serious acting classes, but the character is interesting and I'm curious as to where it will all lead. As for Bela, they should have killed her off last night LOL

It does have a different pace, but that is the diffenence in style between the two shows.
I have Tuesday at 11.0. Also, I weight Sunday for 4 hrs of programming.

Are you Smoking Crack???
How is Rules 10.8 million average "IN The Same Boat" as 30 Rock's 6.5 million??? Rules even blows 30 Rock out of the water in the Demo.
I doubt NBC would ever go after a show like Rules, because....
- Its does to well in the ratings. - Is not Single Camera format - Actually Funny.
