I was flipping channels so maybe i'm wrong, but she basically threw him out, and shw didn't do it very gentle

Roxy was a female, so not a "he". Gabby was hostile to the dog from the beginning, which is why Roxy reciprocated. Then, even after Gabrielle lured the dog into her car early in the morning and took her back to the trainer, the dog chased the car all the way home. Gabrielle lied about the dog being outside, and went out to get it. She was caught by Carlos struggling to remove her from the front yard by force. Who knows what she was about to do next. Gabrielle has become intolerable lately, with her treatment of animals, her blind husbands and the handicapped. Definitely NOT cute.

That's true. Last sunday's episode was very offensive towards the handicapped people also. I think the writers are exaggerating. After all it's supposed to be "funny show"
On the other hand it started with a suicide so it's not exactly the most cheerful shows

It is supposed to be a show with DARK humor

ABC Re-Gains A18-49 Lead in May Sweep; MyNetworkTV is Most Improved

After four nights of the May Sweep, ABC has re-gained bragging rights as the top network in A18-49 demo while CBS continues to hold the lead in both households and viewership.

With the exception of MyNetworkTV, all the networks are down year-over-year in A18-49 demo, ranging from 10% to 17%. However, based on its showing over the first two nights of numbers, MyNetworkTV is exhibiting impressive year-over-year gains: up 80% in A18-49, up 58% in households and up 64% in viewers. Whereas a year ago, MNT was at about one-third of CW levels, this May it is trending in the two-thirds range.

That is just absurd, dumont. You count CW's weekend numbers, don't count MNTV's weekend numbers, then use the 'skew' that results and call it a 'trend'?

I thought last nite's 2 1/2, RoE and SW were all at the top of their game. Anyone else have thoughts?

Networks also make money of their shows from DVD's and other merchandise and channels in other countries

That isn't nearly enough to compensate. Shows being sold overseas is nothing new--nowadays, there's more and more competition from other countries, all of whom are making soap operas. You think DH will ever mean as much to a spanish-speaking TV viewer as the latest telenovela?

DVD sales for a show like DH aren't all that strong, though they do help make up some of the deficit. The third season DVD set for DH is currently #856 in DVD sales on Amazon.com--it was released last September.

In any event, a lot of network shows weren't produced by companies affiliated with the network--in which case, the network doesn't get DVD or foreign syndication revenues. DH is produced by ABC Entertainment. That helps--of course, it also means there's no outside company sharing the expenses.

This is one of their most successful shows (much less so than DWTS--also one of their most expensive (much more so than DWTS). They are not happy about the fact that it's reaching 16 million people--and falling. Nor are they happy with the fact that its longterm resale value is so poor.

If the show is running several more seasons, what does it really matter to DH fans whether ABC is happy, anyway? Why is that important to you? Is your enthusiasm somehow diminished if fewer people are sharing it?

I don't get it, and I guess I never will.

The only one of those 3 I watched was 2&1/2Men. What occurred to me is that this show is popular because of the supporting cast. The mother, the maid, the stalker neighbor, the mother's new fiance, the kid, are all more entertaining than the leads.

That being said, it seemed like this show was based upon the exact same script as at least a dozen past episodes of 2&1/2Men. Nothing new.

Frankly, the ONLY thing I've ever enjoyed about 2.5Men is Melanie Lynskey's sexy stalker. She's much too good for Sheen's character. She should be stalking somebody who appreciates her. Wink

Without the leads, the supporting cast would dissapear.

Imaginge if it was Jay Mohr and Skreetch (Saved By The Bell) in the leads. The show would have been gon before their first November sweeps.

Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer have mastered their characters. This show does have a strong and complete cast.

I still don't have MNT's Saturday final numbers, so I can't report them yet...when they are revealed, they will be incorporated into the average.

Even just looking at Thursday and Friday of last week, MyNetworkTV is trending much stronger this Sweep than a year ago, and it is the only network that can make that claim.

My point was more along the lines of: without the supporting cast, this show would be another 6-7million viewer sitcom. The reason that it is the top sitcom on TV today is the supporting cast elevates the show.
