But, if nothing else, we got six great years.
Some reasons?
A.) It's the CW.
B.) It's Dawn Ostroff.
They cancel a show with decent ratings(Everwood) & keep a ratings-challenged show.(VM) That should explain volumes about their "intelligence" in show selection.
(BTW, I couldn't stand "Everwood", but I like VM. I'm speaking strictly from a business sense.)
Fox will introduce three new series – two dramas and one sitcom – this spring, while freshman entries ‘Til Death and Standoff and sophomore comedy The War at Home will move to new time periods.
New dramedy The Wedding Bells, which focuses on a family-owned wedding planning business, will debut on Friday, March 9 at 9 p.m. following a preview on Wednesday, March 7 (out of American Idol). The Winner, the first live-action comedy from Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, will launch with two episodes on Sunday, March 4 at 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. ET. It will remain in those two time periods on March 11 and March 18 until the return of King of the Hill and American Dad on March 25. New drama Drive, which tells the story of a diverse group of people who participate in an underground cross-country road race, will preview with a two-hour episode on Sunday, April 15 at 8 p.m. ET. One night later it debuts on Monday, April 16 at 8 p.m. ET.
Fox will also launch a new comically driven game show called Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader, which goes into production this week, at some point later this season.
Til Death, the struggling sitcom headlined by former Everybody Loves Raymond star Brad Garrett, will move to Wednesdays on March 14 at 9:30 p.m. (following telecasts out of American Idol on Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 27 and 28). Sophomore sitcom The War at Home is relocating to Sunday at 7:30 p.m. on March 4, and the recently introduced Standoff to Friday at 8 p.m. on March 30. Nothing, meanwhile, has been confirmed for Thursday. Sitcom The Loop, which premiered last spring, will return at a later time with 10 new episodes.
What follows is Fox’s revised spring schedule:

Supernatural had very little competition last year, and much better promotion. The CW only started promoting Supernatural starting this year, since when the CW did a lounge topic on what they should do; half the people complained that Supernatural wasn't getting enough promotion and attention. People complained about ho bad it did and hat hoorible preview they had.

I agree completely with you. The CW has done a pretty horrible job with promotion this year for all of their shows.
For whatever reason, I've stopped watching Everybody Hates Chris (one of my favorite comedies of last year) and I rarely if ever see good promotion for any of their shows.
ANTM, Smallville and Smackdown seem to be the only shows that are performing as well as they should be (Geek as well, but that hasn't been on long enough to really be sure).

FOX really should steer clear of game shows. The title itself is a turn-off.

Feb. 18. They're not airing it opposite the Super Bowl.

There's bad blood between the CW and 20th Century Fox. Spite trumps all in TV Land.
I can think of quite a few hit shows that were cancelled out of spite well before the point where they become unprofitable (or before the point where they were moved to terrible time periods with the express purpose of destroying their ratings) -- "Providence," "Me and the Boys," "Hail to the Chief," "Aaron's Way," "My Big Fat Greek Life," "Can't Hurry Love," "Mayberry RFD," "Evening Shade," "Webster," etc.

With all the talk here of Reba, and all the ongoing talk here about ABC returning to a night of family comedies on Fridays, would it make sense (given the show's resilience) for ABC to use it as a tentpole to start a new Friday lineup?
It might, but it could be too expensive at this point. Sadly, Reba is over.

Thank you, I agree 100%. Let's see if any other CW show can go against Grey's, CSI, Scrubs, and The OC. That can stay constant and climb after the long hiatus. There is a large audience overlap with CSI, Grey's and Scrubs. At the moment I don't see any other show that can do as well.
