You can't use message boards as a sample of a general population. Even if 50 people beg for OTH info on a board, how many others visit it altogether?? More than 50! And probably more than 500! Even if it was 500 (though it's obiviously more if 50 ppl complain about that issue), that's still only 10%, which is rougly the clearance rate. Now if 40% of the users complain, that's a problem. Fox's clearance is only a few percentages higher than CW's!

I think it has been said previously that Smallville is most likely coming back for one more year. The questionable shows are Veronica Mars, 7th heaven, Gilmore Girls (contracts are expiring) and One Tree Hill. Based on the fact that Supernatural had a panel at the meeting, I would think it is coming back.

I've never had a pre-emption on the WB,UPN, or CW in my area and I used to live in the Boston market...now I'm in the Western Massachusetts/Springfield market and still no pre-emptions. I've only seen those sports games in big markets like LA and occasionally NY (I believe, I could be mistaken though). But you're right...they absolutely suck!

Yeah, pre-emptions suck

Here's my take...

For sure: Chris, ANTM, Geek, OTH, Smackdown.

Likely: GG (depending on contracts, otherwise its almost a guarantee), SN, All of Us

Maybe: 7th (if ratings can remain at 4+ million like they've been), VM, Girlfriends

History: Reba, Smallville, The Game

They've had pre-emptions once or twice here where I live. It totally sucks. Also, The CW channel sometimes doesn't even work, the screen is just black sometimes and of course once during my favorite show. Frowner And, I've also heard here where I live, my cable company may be taking The CW and the channel with all the soap operas and local news off my cable at the end of the month. It sucks. There were pre-emptions in Detroit on Wednesday night.

Okay, but those people can catch all the big channels like FOX, ABC, NBC but they can't catch The CW. It still adds up the amount of people who can't watch.

Smallville is coming back. The CW cannot afford to lose it right now. The ratings are too strong. A 7th season is expected and I'd expect it to be it's final season. No way they don't bring it back, unless Tom just wants out, which I don't think is the case.

Our preditions mostly match - hope Marc comments on them.

I can't see any way the CW cancels Smallville.

Given the probability, those small town people are more likely to check out the popular shows. No one can be sure without the official data but I'd bet on it.

I love the CW, but its clearance is no where near its main problem. While there are several, creativity is absolutely one of them. Heck, just about all its current popular shows (Gilmore, 7th Heaven, Smallville, Model, etc... ) will be gone within a couple of years. Sure, the netlet will find more people over the next few years but it needs a breakout hit...and fast!

total bull. well it might be so, all the smaller towns with 50-100K people don't get the CW (THAT ADDS UP MY FRIEND)

Actually at least in my town people always are talking about how they want the CW. I remember i called my local Time Warner Cable place and they told me they were getting tons of calls daily that people wanted The CW. Stuff like ANTM & VERONICA MARS (Those with satellite here) and most of the WB shows were "buzz-worthy" at my high school with a lot of the kids. That and all the MTV shows!

The CW Television Network Presents: Gossip Girl
Premieres Wed. Sept 26th at 9/8c after Top Model

But CW was surprisingly quiet about SV and Reba today. Believe me that is where you can take your cue from.

Quiet about Smallville? Dawn opened the session talking about the season high ratings from last night. I don't think she'd toot that horn if the show was ending.

I'm pretty sure one of the first things Dawn Ostroff did today was praise Smallville's ratings last night. I don't see that show going anywhere. As for Supernatural, I don't think the network would have given it its own panel today if they wanted to cancel it.

I'd be willing to bet Smallville/Supernatural Thursdays stay intact next fall.

yeah i highly doubt Smallville will be cancelled. SV and SN have the hardest night to deal with and still pull in great ratings. if smallville were on mondays tuesdays or wednesdays it would probably be pulling in over 5 million every episode. the fact is SV is the only show to be able to hold down Thursday nights, so i doubt they will get rid of it till its ratings start to really suck, and even then they have alot of character that they can get rid of and still have a good show (lana, lionel, martha, jimmy)while these characters are great to have, they are certainly expendable

Right now GG and OTH have the hardest night with AI. But SV will get it chance in 3 weeks when AI starts airing on Thursdays at 8PM too.
