I notice nothing was mentioned by Ostroff re: Smallville and that none of their "stars" are at the party tonight.
I am surprised no one asked her about rumors that this is the final season for the show.
I've been seeing specualtion at SV sites lately that this is the last season. It is just too expensive and does not do much better in the rating than most of the other CW shows.
From your report and others I've read I say Chris (of course), ANTM, GG, OTH and Smackdown are definitely coming back.
Likely VM nd Geek as Otroff did a shout out to them.
Possibly 7Th.
Doubtful pick-ups are Reba, SV and maybe Supernatural.
Ostroff's replies to questions and what she did not talk about are very revealing as to next season on CW.
Reba is a goner, but I would count on Supernatural coming back. It fits well out of Smallville in a very difficult time period.

Actually I should have qualified my commnet better - it sure looks like Reba and Smallville are goners and perhaps SN but I have a feeling it of the 3 is the only one with a chance for a renewal.

So then why are the CW ratings only 1/4 to 1/3 of what CBS/ABC/NBC or even FOX can get? I mean if FOX can grab 40 million for a show then so can the CW if they play their cards right. To think that the WB's highest rating ever was 12.5 million (in 1999 from the birth of Sam/David on 7th Heaven) is baffling. I sincerely doubt ratings analysts would consider CW a 'weblet' or 'netlet' if it could regularly pull FOX numbers (excluding the recent bloated premiere numbers of AI and 24). Those will sink a little bit.

A lot of the people on this forum talk about The CW. Wonder why the numbers don't show the talk. Well (answering my own thing) but its prolly too much of a small population of people on this forum. Oh, and not everyone gets the C-DUB
total bull. well it might be so, all the smaller towns with 50-100K people don't get the CW (THAT ADDS UP MY FRIEND)

Marc, thank you so much for posting the transcript of the entire SPN session. Almost as good as being there . . . .
I assume you were there, Marc. What did you think of the show clips they showed? And I don't think I've ever seen you say whether or not you have ever watched Supernatural? If not, did the clips they showed entice you to watch at all?
Again, thanks so much for the transcript - you're the best!
Many people can't catch The CW. Just look on The CW OTH board. People are always asking for links to the full episodes and stuff because they can not catch The CW.
Of course it adds up, but it still doesn't justify as the main reason why the CW is struggling so much. The difference between 95% clearance and 100% clearance isn't drastic. Given the probability, those small town people are more likely to check out the popular shows. No one can be sure without the official data but I'd bet on it.
I love the CW, but its clearance is no where near its main problem. While there are several, creativity is absolutely one of them. Heck, just about all its current popular shows (Gilmore, 7th Heaven, Smallville, Model, etc... ) will be gone within a couple of years. Sure, the netlet will find more people over the next few years but it needs a breakout hit...and fast!

Not only that, but I know for a fact that in some of the larger markets, the CW shows are often preempted for sports or other local programming.
