ABC is still mulling the rest of its midseason schedule, but it's believed that the return of frosh sci-fi entry "V" will take over the Tuesday 10 p.m. slot behind "Lost."

The CW should do a male version of ANTM.
They should have started a male ANTM as a summer series YEARS ago. Now it's too late.
Who would be the audience for a male version of ANTM? I ask this as a fan of the current version. I mean, part of its appeal to me is the bitchy goings on of the hamsters when they're in the house and their generally stank behavior when they're not at a photo shoot (or even during the shoots). There's always at least one horrible bee-yotch in the group. It's what makes the show worth watching.
Men don't behave like that...or do they?
Regardless, I doubt I'd tune in for it. No matter how pretty they might be. Eye candy ain't everything.

No. I think it'll do just about the same, if not less, than last season.

It was doing what, around 9 million last spring? I bet we'll see the audience creep back in the final episodes at least. The 2 hour final should be pretty big in May.
For its series finale, do I hope it reaches 1st-season or 2nd-season ratings levels? Yes.
Will it reach 1st-season or 2nd-season ratings levels? No.

For the weeks it isn't airing against Idol, it'll probably be able to do 10 million. When it is airing against Idol, which it will be for awhile in March/April, it'll probably down to 8-9 million like last season.
For the finale, I would never expect it to do season 1 ratings. But, I bet it would be able to get up to 14 million at the most, especially in its final hour. Even people who watched just the first or 2nd season will probably come back just to see how it all ends.
And about V airing Tuesdays at 10pm - yeah, that was pretty obvious. Of course ABC is gonna take one last try to make a hit series out of Lost, and V is probably the closest they could come to that.

I don't think the Turin Olympics will be a very good barometer for ratings... as NBC was in the unenviable position of having to tape-delay nearly all the live events because of the time change. In the advent of 24 hour news and instant updates via websites and blogs, a lot of the nation knew the results before they aired.
Of course, with the Games being in Vancouver, the possibility of events airing live has increased greatly. But like I stated before, the big stuff will occur after Lost goes off-air, as they did in Beijing.

They learned their lesson in Beijing, and look what happened? Vancouver may not have a Michael Phelps, or even a Michelle Kwan/Nancy Kerrigan/Tonya Harding story to promote... but I can see it doing much better than Turin for the simple fact of much of the big stuff being live in the Pacific time zone.
As for those Beijing Games, the Michael Phelps swimming and Women's Beach Volleyball events were televised live but none of the Track & Field stuff were. Those Games aired in August vs. no competition. And, the big events from China aired after 11pm eastern, which may occur this February as well!
Vancouver will probably do better than Turin but that doesn't mean the other networks are going to "give up" those nights to NBC either.
With Lost airing on Tuesdays, I don't think it'll be that much of an issue. I believe the Olympics' biggest event nights will occur on those heavy-ratings Thursday nights, especially the Ladies Figure Skating final (as they've aired on Thursdays in 2002 and 2006).

Lost will muddle through both the Olympics and American Idol, and will perhaps be the most time-shifted show in the history of time-shifting.
I'll certainly add myself to the time-shifting audience!
I think that is still unconfirmed and more of a speculation done by Variety. My guess is they won't decide that until they see how The Forgotten fares after Lost and how Wednesday at 10 PM fares.

And in the end, I think that's why ABC programmed Lost there. It's not the best timeslot for Lost, but I don't think ABC expects amazing ratings for it (at least in live viewing) and with it being the last season, they have to protect other shows.

Of course, if they program V after Lost, that might also say something about their expectations regarding that show. Like how much longer they expect it to last.

NBC orders more ‘Trauma'
quote:
It’s alive!
A few weeks after NBC confirmed it would not order any more episodes of “Trauma,” the network has ordered more episodes of “Trauma.” Three more hours, to be exact. This is a similar "we canceled it, wait, maybe we didn't" fun the network had with "Lipstick Jungle" last year. Only that time, after some wavering, the show stayed dead.
So why order more episodes? Have its ratings improved?
Trauma strutNope. On Monday nights, “Trauma” comes in fourth place at 9 p.m. (Ratings track for "Trauma" this season: 2.2, 1.7, 1.8, 1.8, 1.9, 1.9, 1.8, 1.8).
Is this show a bargain?
Hardly.
Are critics raving about it? Is there Emmy gold ahead?
Um...
So why would NBC order more of a low-rated show that isn't particularly acclaimed and is expensive?
NBC is ordering more “Trauma,” sources say, because the network is short on inventory. Ten "Trauma" episodes will air before the holidays. Now they'll have another six, instead of an awkward three, to air at some other time which has yet to be determined. With the start of NBC's Winter Olympics coverage in early February, it's unclear if "Trauma" will finish before or after the Olympics. Remember that "Day One" is planned for midseason on Mondays and was shortened from a series to a miniseries.
So, it's more filler than faith, but for "Trauma" fans -- and they are out there and feel quite strongly about this show -- they'll take it.
With six more episodes and Heroes/Chuck taking up Mondays, I'm hopeful NBC actually will try Trauma Wednesdays at 8 PM. Although, Law and Order only has 16 episodes and hasn't been extended. Trauma could easily end up on Fridays also.
Chuck on Mondays isn't going to help it at all. The two hour try out on Sundays is interesting but I'm not sure how much it is going to help its Monday performance.

I agree with most of your points, Douglas... and I guess it will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Turin was a bitter pill to swallow for NBC, and I think they can only improve, and having it in North America will certainly help that. I'm wondering if they'll demand certain changes to the games schedule like they did in Beijing with swimming to ensure a stronger live audience in prime time. I wouldn't be surprised if Figure Skating events, for example, began at 6pm PT, so at least 2 hours air live on the east coast in prime time.
I see no outwardly compelling story right now for the Winter Olympics in the U.S., however. No Michelle Kwan. Not even a Sacha Cohen. I can't even name a men's, pairs, or ice dancing skater from the U.S. Bode Miller has turned off the worldwide public. No Picabo Street. What's left? Apollo Anton Ohno and Lindsay Vonn. When was the last time a Women's Downhill competitor was the Games' most compelling U.S. story? (To be honest... I'm excited to watch her - she could rock!)
