Not necessarily, almost every hour show sees a spike in its viewership in the 2nd half hour. Look at the 8 o'clock shows.
Not necessarily, but in this case, I think so. That is a large spike for SVU.

I'm surprised to see Cougar Town pull in higher demos than both V and Flash Forward. If ABC is trying to attract a younger audience, they have to lose the young people like sci fi mentality and start programming comedies. Their audience is much more receptive to them.
I would say Mercy is "persisting" and from what little I've seen of it, its quality is improving, but not nearly enough nor getting the kind of attention that would affect the course it is on.

I think this show is a grower.

Well, V and FlashForward started with much higher demo numbers, it's just that less and less young people are watching those two shows. It's not necessarily a sci-fi vs. comedy thing; it's having a good show. Look at the demo numbers for the CBS Wed comedies.

Good point. One of the things that struck me about the ratings for FF was how older slanting it became for the content and being a serial, and V is showing the same characteristic.

Or how about the demo numbers for like every comedy ABC greenlighted for the past five years or so before they found MF and CT?
MF's numbers are terrific, and its helping Cougar Town with it. Finally... ABC has a comedy hit.
Word-of-mouth is growing for this show... and the 2-week break actually seemed to help as people are telling their friends to tune in, and you could see a noticeable change from November 4. Its become a topic of conversation on a couple of different dinner parties and family get-togethers. Its going to get bigger - and hopefully pull The Middle and Cougar Town with it.
I'm a bit surprised at the Glee numbers. While it's solid in the demo, placing 4th for the night overall can't be good. Will being paired up with Idol help it next year?

AI tends to have an isolated audience and if I recall correctly, the retention wasn't spectacular when Glee debuted after AI.
However, I do think it will help Glee some and AI is definately a larger platform than SYTYCD. If Glee and FOX were smart they'd find a way to tie the two shows in. Perhaps get one of their more famous alumni to guest star. I'm not sure if Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, or Chris Daughtry would do it, but Chris Daughtry did do CSI: NY so at least he's done network guest staring. If not, I'm sure one of the judges (not Simon though) would be available.
That being said, the demos are so strong with Glee that even if there wasn't a huge bump in the viewership, I don't think FOX would be that concerned. It's a show that is targeted for the 18 to 49ers and so far it's succeeding.
