Just ran through thefutoncritic's listings and here's how I see NBC Sundays and Mondays shaping up:
There are 18 non-Olympic Mondays from Chuck's 8pm debut (January 11) through the end of May sweeps (May 24). 36 hours total. Chuck airs 17 of those 36 hours, most if not all of them at 8pm. Futon projects Heroes will air 5 hours, from January 11 thru February 8 (the last Monday before the Olympics).
That leaves 14. 6 for Trauma, 8 for reality newbie Breakthrough with Tony Robbins? Conveniently, it has exactly 8 episodes (they could do a two-hour premiere at one point, using up the remaining 8pm hour since Chuck has only 17 of 18 8pm hours covered).
Day One was slated for Monday, but it seems to be low on their priority list, and they may just throw it away on Sundays before The Apprentice shows up, as they have for previous miniseries in the last couple years. They have the Chuck premiere on January 10, then the Golden Globes on the 17th, then two open Sundays, then Super Bowl Sunday, three Olympics weeks, and The Apprentice (along with Dateline and/or other reality shows like the Seinfeld one) probably premiere the Sunday after the Olympics. So those two open Sundays may be the perfect spot for Day One.
I gotta say that this is the best season of Survivor I've seen in years. Tonight's episode was one of the best in a long time. The tribal councils alone are must see TV, and watching Russell become arguably the best Survivor player ever is great. So glad to see this show remain so fresh after 19 editions.
I love to brag about stuff that has the odds against it and it ends up coming out in my favor but I tried to tell people Mercy was going to last longer than the first two months. Not only is it lasting a longtime but it got a full season order along with growing ratings. This show could be a huge hit for NBC in the future. They should definitely make a switch with Trauma and SVU which needs to get out of that spot against Criminal Minds. Trauma should fit in with Mercy like a glove.
The CBS comedies seem to be settling very nicely into that 7-8 million viewer range regularly outpacing ABC's comedy hour. Gary has been getting a younger 2.5 demo the past few weeks so that's a good sign going forward. Gary had a very funny episode last night that made me laugh out loud.
Criminal Minds had its best episode of the season last night. CM no doubt about is still the best CBS procedural in my opinion and the best duo on television with NY seems to have found a new life with finally reaching back closer to 14 million viewers. NY had a terrible eppy last night.
I watched Janet's interview with Robin and I thought it would do better b/c it deserved it but I guess people had better things to do. It was definitely the best interview I watched since Michael's death.
Top Model is dead and has fallen flat on its face. I keep forgetting its still in existence but I think Dance on FOX is making a difference for its lower numbers. Gotta give Glee credit as always rather you like it or not.
Overall, a pleasing Wednesday for most programming.

Oprah Winfrey will end her syndicated daytime talk show in 2011. The top-rated talk show host told her Chicago audience while taping tomorrow's episode that she will end her show on Sept. 9, 2011 -- at the conclusion of her current contract. The episode will air tomorrow. Oprah draws about seven million viewers a day and her departure was first reported a couple weeks ago. After the show concludes, she plans to focus on her cable network, OWN.
CBS statement: "We have the greatest respect for Oprah and wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors. We know that anything she turns her hand to will be a great success. We look forward to working with her for the next several years, and hopefully afterwards as well."
I was looking, and it seems like a lot of ABC affiliates air Oprah, while in my area its the NBC affiliate.

I agree with you up to a point. I don't think the Turin Olympics will be a very good barometer for ratings... as NBC was in the unenviable position of having to tape-delay nearly all the live events because of the time change. In the advent of 24 hour news and instant updates via websites and blogs, a lot of the nation knew the results before they aired.
They learned their lesson in Beijing, and look what happened? Vancouver may not have a Michael Phelps, or even a Michelle Kwan/Nancy Kerrigan/Tonya Harding story to promote... but I can see it doing much better than Turin for the simple fact of much of the big stuff being live in the Pacific time zone.
Lost will muddle through both the Olympics and American Idol, and will perhaps be the most time-shifted show in the history of time-shifting.
If they want live primetime events all they are left with is figure skating. That's it. All the other major sports have their events scheduled way earlier in the day, so basically most of NBC's prime time coverage will be just as tape delayed as before

I think the Pacific time for the Vancouver games will let NBC get most of their events airing live after 10pm if the event starts at 7pm local time over there.
The 2010 games will definitely perform better than the 2006 games and the one thing about the Olympics is they create a new superstar and major storyline almost every edition so the numbers should be able to hang between 15-25 million viewers most nights. With the rebirth of hockey in this country I can see that sport standing out a little bit since people love world hockey and Canada is the hometeam this time around.

The only sport that will do well is figure skating.
