The procedural genre is definitely past its peak (it's hard to argue otherwise) and CBS knows that. That's why it's been trying different types of dramas, but to no avail.

As for Fox, 24 will still be a demo hit even if it loses audience, and The Simpsons continues to do well in demos. The point with Fox is that it has a balanced schedule; if viewer tastes turn away from procedurals, it's okay. If it turns against serials, it's okay. The net would be hit, but it's definitely not putting all of its eggs in one basket like CBS and ABC.

All the shows you mentioned (with the exception of Moonlighting, which was a great detective-dramedy back in the 80s) are not your run of the mill dramas. Cane was an attempt to create an "ethnic" oriented soap, VL was a musical and Moonlight, Jericho and GW are supernatural / sci fi, shows that have a priori limited audiences. CBS took some chances with them, and in the case of Moonlight and GW - it paid off. Unlike NBC, for example, that fails no matter what type of dramas it introduces, at least CBS enjoys stable viewership for its comedies and dramas. Hardly a failure or "putting all its eggs in one basket".

So put him on ignore or start taking the jokes as jokes. The ignore feature is really handy if you don't like communicating with someone on the board.

Thanks for posting the numbers for Doctor Who. I think that's about normal for DW on Sci-Fi. I wonder if it will go up next week when the episodes start catching up to within a couple of weeks of the UK broadcast time. Too bad these episodes aren't their best.

Not too bad a drop from last week considering that the Scifi website went to streaming the episode every hour on the hour for Most of the pre-air date.

Indeed and I wonder why. Is SciFi getting more ad revenue this way? It has to hurt the live ratings.

BSG can't deliver big ratings anymore, even for SciFi (watch it get outperformed by those Saturday night creature movies they run).

It delivers buzz and critical acclaim, and they want to maximize that in every way they can, while they can, since it's their only buzzed about show, and this is the last season.

It really deserves a better lead-in than that horrible Who remake.

But today online airing is only once, at 12pm, instead of all day like last week. SciFi strategy is confusing.

I think you may be being overly optimistic. The front page at SciFi.com states that you can see a preview of the episode at noon. It doesn't even say it will be full streaming of the episode.
