The networks have noted going into this week that the weekend's daylight savings time switchover will have a big impact on TV usage levels going forward. They were down across the board during primetime last night.

Well, if it was new I agree with others that it is a troubling sign...

But this is NOT just any new show. Its Oprah! The Leadin for her is not that big of a factor. C'mon, this in NOT "The Bachlor" or "Boston Legal"

Now I will defer to the Daylight Savings time change, but I don't expect it to do much better next week.

I disagree -- aside from her name in the show's title, she is only seen a couple of minutes in the show. Oprah's name propelled this show, but I don't think you can say that just because she's associated with it, it has to be a megahit bucking any other reasonable trends of tv viewing.

1.9 for a 6 million show it's not very old skewing

Improving on its 18-49 lead-in from Cold Case by a mere one tenth of a percentage point is not very young-skewing, is it?

I know on the board I frequent for BB news- a lot of people didn't watch the show last night because the action was on the feeds (there was a MAJOR powerplay this weekend- I'll put something in the show thread..) That's the problem with the big break between Wednesday night and Sunday- most of the interesting stuff for the week has happened already, and the TV show is just rehash....

But 27 letters of the alphabet? Nat, I know you ain't that dumb...

i don't think it helps that they rehash the last show for about 10 mins at the start of the show.

The Simpson was up against all first-run competition, including a new Big Brother, which it beat in both total viewers and the demo.

Family Guy was a repeat up against other repeats (except Oprah's thing).

Seriously, being #2 in the demo against mainly competition is embarassing--for a show that turns 20 years old next season?

Why set the bar so high for a true survivor, and so low for shows that are going to be lucky to last two full seasons--oh--I get it. Wink

20 years old or not, repeats or not for Simpsons to be beaten by a FG repeat is embarassing

Are you sure? It dropped in viewers, but grew in demo.

So what do you think of HBO's latest pickup? It's...interesting to say the least (I'm a librarian, and the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency books do go out- but I don't know if it'll translate well to TV.
